Urgently need help ... came into forum and after reading comments i shortlisted 5 IDs and met them between 17th Nov to 19th Nov

please help me to analyse... sign ... only 2 gave me quotation... 1 is way way over my budget 65K!!! ...

the other 3 , drop 1 because cant click, 1 after smsing twice and 1 call (2 weeks) trying to arrange appt went MIA ... 1 say will email me quotation as he is really busy to meet up as he knows that i have to decide pretty soon..

mine is a 2bedroom apartment with 1 toilet , 915sqft

Hulage - $2500

to hack kitchen floor, kitchen entrance wall, kitchen cabinet, entrance built-in fixture, living room built- fixture long bookshelf, hacking of wall and door area between living room and open terrace, of wall and door area between master bedrm and open terrace, toilet floor, wardrobe at master and 2nd rm, false ceiling ****, dining and toilet area.

using the most expensive WOOD avaliable on planet earth? ask them for per sq ft charges.

your kitchen and island costs are over the top man... even though i think my ID is premium priced, yours is wayy over

sign... i really wonder too.. is it that expensive .. its L shape full length cabinet from top to bottom, in between the longer side of the L shape will be a place for the fridge... ya.. didnt ask for /ft quote.. how much is it normally?

the island kitchen part is exp too? anyone did similar design? (i search through the forum only see ppl talk about the island kitchen in term of design but not really the price.

i have not start negotiating... but he is not the most exp wan.. the IDs like trying their luck on us... maybe we look too gullible

yes, id/contractors do charge higher for private properties but this one is ridiculous.

Its a small private apartment... no facilities ... of cos im not going for the 65K ID ... what the ID proposed to hack and do good the hacked part he quoted 39k already!! ... i was yawning away halfway thru the quotation... some part i hinted that i dont want to do... he just not interested in what i want... its more of what he want to do to own place and our pocket..

well for the above quotation of ard 36k , i called up the ID guy yest to ask for /ft pricing.

for kitchen cabinet.. it will be from Top to Bottom ... hiding the washing machine.. rice cooker etc.. there will be a hole for the fridge.. for the part covering the washing machine.. the cabinet is to be swing open and slot in so that i look neat ...

covering will be glossy laminate.

inside ID say wont be white wood, it will be woodgrain polyester,

some place will have pull out tray for pots etc.. of cos not the whole cabinet..

the edge will be machine press ABS edging.

ask he for /ft he say 280/ft i see that normally people do top and bottom cabinet.. that will be like 2/3 of full height cabinet, so if i use simple calculation it will be 280/3 x 2 = $187/ft.. can i say that?

granite top for island cabinet part will be $121/ft, thickness is 20mm..

whats the normal price range like?

have not start negotiating with him as waiting for another ID to quote... as i dont want to neg if im not going to use him...

I need to know too. I have 2 quotations for my kitchen cabinet - one is abt $3.5k , another is abt $2.8k.

Problem is ..they quote at different level of details.

Meaning one just give me a bao-ka-liao price ($2.8k) and say price includes a laminated top and 6 drawers for the bottom cabinet. Cheaper but dunno reliable or not. As far as this forum is concerned, he is an unknown - a neighbourhood shop contact. But the guy who came is nice ( but young) and respond to my emails fast.

Another one quote me separately for the laminated top and the drawers and I add it all up to $3.5k. He is supposed to be quite well-known in both Renotalk n sgbrides and reputed to be economical. So far he is also quite efficient in responding to my queries. Bit of headache how to choose

Btw, is it also normal to charge for installing hob & hood ? First contractor said FOC but 2nd contractor ask for $50. Small sum but i wonder if this reflects that the contractor is a bit 'picky'.

2nd contractor also want to charge me $50 for removing old/ re-applying new silicon around my existing sink. I thot it should be FOC too but now not sure if I am the picky one!
