Dragging Of Work...

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I got this company ** ** Engineering and Renovation Work to do up my window grill at my house.. but the first time they came down and fix there were some miscalculation on their side and one of the window grill at my Living cannot fit.

So they promise they will come back to fix it up again in like 3 days.. So hearing this i paid 400 leaving a balance of 130 to pay when they come..This was on 15th Oct which is one month ago.. Till now they have been dragging and dragging.. Please advice me on what to do? Is there any place i can complain to get my justice down or something?

thanks!

Jason

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

hi jason,

you have to keep chasing them (if you can everyday) and irritate them until you get your window fixed.

it seems to me that they are not prepared to re-do a new piece to replace as they may need to you

to top up the difference, BUT DO NOT PAY....ITS THEIR MISTAKE

also, you can check with HDB see if they are their licence contractor and make a complain to HDB

about what happen .... i hope it helps....

IF they keep dragging.

go to the CASE to make a complaint

http://www.case.org.sg/

i'm afraind it might be difficult to get them back to fix a new set cost i believe the $400 already covered their initial cost and manpower. so they will not be keen for the other $130 as if they redo the set. they be making a lost.

i've learnt that the best way is to give just 10% deposit and pay all upon completion of project. usually the last 2 or last payment is their profits. the earlier payment is their material cost.

not sure if this helps, but for myself, since i am in the trade, the contractors are supposed to make good their promise and deliver by the promised date and the promised specifications. Since its their mistake to miscalculate in the first place, they are required to replace them... My practise is to deduct a percentage of the total sum for the total amount of delays experienced.

however, since you have already paid such most of it, it would be advisable to proceed to CASE if it still doesnt work out...

I suggest you go to Small Claims Tribunals. Its better than CASE.
