Aircon Repair Or Replace?

Hi,

Currently I am using a Toshiba System4 aircon, Model : RAV-M240A.

All 4 bedrooms were connected with 9000BTU FCU.

Unfortunately, the compressor was dead and I am still deciding whether to repair or replace all.

Please give your advise. I have two options at the moment.

Option1 :

To repair the compressor, does anyone know of any shop who can recommend to me?

Option2 :

To purchase a new system 4 unit. I have shortlisted two brand/models:

a. Daikin System 4, Model MA56EV1, 4 X FT25, 20,000 BTU

b. Mitsubishi Electric System 4, Model MXY-4A28VA, 4 X MSXY-GA10VA, 28,000 BTU

My flat is an old one and can only use 8.5A compressor.

Does anyone has other brand/model to recommend?

In most case you've to chck how much to repair, if repair cost is half of the new set then you can consider to replace a brand new set.

Hi,

I understand that in most compressor, there are two motors each support 2 FCU. The cost of repairing two motors should be at around $1200, so I guess I have to buy a new set.

Just received quotes for :

Daikin System 4, Model MA56EV1, 4 X FT25 $2500

Mitsubishi Electric System 4, Model MXY-4A28VA, 4 X MSXY-GA10VA $3600

Can anyone advise if it's a good deal?
