Recommended Posts

Hey guys, any idea where to find water features for the home?

I've been to the following places but found none close to the design or the price we want. Perhaps u can share what are the other places that sell water features?

We've been to:

Thomson nurseries

Farmart

GardenAsia

ParkMall basement water feature shop

Hi MaCe,

For Astoria, I noticed they have many outlets? Which one that stocks the most number of water feature to select from?

Hi! Hi! Sorry for hijacking this thread but my wife has been quite insistent on getting a water feature.

For a long time, I resisted because:

- I think that water features need to change water every now and then

- There can be algae/fungi growing on it after some time.

- I like the sound of running water that a water feature provides as much as the next person, just not the whole day

- Consumes electricity when on, breeds mosquioes when off.

Can anybody convince me that this is not the case? I am not saying no to a water feature, just saying that I need to be convinced first.

Hi Light,

Ppl get water features for reasons of fengshui or probobaly to suit the theme of the house e.g resort, zen, balinese. We intend to get one for both reasons. If you are superstitious, the placement of this item in the house is quite important as it is associated with wealth.

It is something like maintaining a fish tank, whereby you need a pump running and probably have fishes inside to prevent mosquitoes from breeding. If you have been keeping fishes, the maintenance should be rather similar.

Thanks for that. My wife and I don't know much about fengshui and are motivated by the aesthetics of a water feature. Never kept fishes before and we are concerned with the maintenance part of a water feature.

Let's say we don't want to keep fishes(another added complication), does that mean that it that the pump has to be constantly on? Are there any additives that we can put into the water to prevent mosquito breeding and algea from forming? WE don't want the water feature to become a white elephant.

yes. put a dash of bleach to prevent flies/mosquitos

- There can be algae/fungi growing on it after some time.

yes, put some salt also.
