hongss 3 Report post Posted November 19, 2007 a metal bracket is a metal bracket. my cheapo ikea brackets no problems so far...and BTW my curtain rods are STAINLESS STEEL PIPES. Go imagine the weight.Hi Mace, im also using ikea's bracket and rod. But i dont really like the rod becos when i try to draw my curtains, it tends to get stuck at the "joints" of the rods. As my living room is rather long, i bought those that extendable rods which will have the "joints" when it is fully extended. im thinking of buying aluiminium rods that comes as one long piece, abt 3.8 metres long.Anywhere i can buy?Curtains... May not be as nice as those custom made curtains but still acceptable for me. I rather spend on electronics which i know i will fully utilise. i bought those on the shelf and my wife does the alteration Curtains for my whole house under $

Lakmy 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 Hi Bro Mace!!You are a gem of a find!!I was wondering abt the rods. I got the brackets fixed today(Ikea) and did not buy the rods... esp dislike the extendable one.Was wondering why there were not slimmer bamboo poles which i can slot into the ikea bracket!!Thanks again:I am quoting from Bro mace's blog:1) Stainless steel water pipes as curtain rod - $44+ for 40ft ( cut to size, sells by per 20ft)remaining SS pipes were used as bamboo.2) Copper end caps(stoppers) - $1.50 each x 6Why use stainless steel rods? Cos You cant scratch stainless pipes.Curtain rods from ikea are a lot cheaper but the paint on the rod will peel/scratch off when you drag open/closes your curtains, and they are flimsy too.Use the remaining as clothes hanging poles (as mine is a ground floor unit I can hang in the yard and they will be purrfect )Et Tu means You too?? Max383 1 Report post Posted November 23, 2007 Hi MaCe,Do you know if the Pipe Shop helps people to bend and cut the pipes as well? I have installing a long bath in my master bathroom so I would require a bent pipe for my shower curtain. Ikea sells the L-shape shower pipe but it is paint quoted and comes with joints, so not sure if that is a good option. Would rather have the whole bar in one piece made from stainless steel. Not sure how to mount the bar into the wall though.Any advise? çava bien? single bracket for living area, double for mbr.bought only their brackets, not their curtain rods.go tembeling street or any industrial park(amk, ubi..etc) that sells water piping to plumbers.http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel.../travel_site_1/opp haig girls school there is a Pipes shops - think the shop owner already knows very well what you want cos some forum members here also got their "curtain rod" water pipe from him.18ft around $20+ nia - REAL stainless steel pipe hor.below are the my ready made curtains with ikea brackets + stainless steel water pipes.http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...9970&st=
