does anyone know what is ARCYLIC solid top?

in 1 of my quotations, this is stated as the kitchen's solid top. i asked the contractor if this is the Corian top, he said no.

so is arcylic top some cheapo top??

acrylic is the material that solid top is made of

generic term being solid surface, corian is a brand of it (by dupont if i'm not wrong)

the higher end brands are made of 100% acrylic whereas some are not

difference between brands are the durability, warranty and hardiness

acrylic is the name of type of material... there are many brands for this material, the most expensive is Corian and it is 100% acrylic... the cheaper brands like Cresto is a mixture of acrylic and ester, and is less durable than the 100% acrylic type...

I only recommend Corian and LG. Expensive but worth every cent.

any idea roughly how much i shd be paying for corian top by per ft run?

how can i be sure that the contractor gives me corian and not cresto, they look pretty similar to me.

i was quoted $140 pfr for corian...

i also dun know how to differentiate cresto and corian... maybe ask ur ID for the invoice from the corian supplier??

Is the quote of S$140 per foot the price of the Corian solid top only, without the cabinet??

That means the cabinet is separate charge?

My contractor charge me S$100 per foot for lower cabinet.

And also S$130 for the Corian solid top per foot run.

Is this what U mean, separate cost for cabinet and Corian top?

wah corian comes with a cert? none of the IDs/contractors mentioned this before. thanks! now i know.

i can't decide between using a corian / granite top. i understand from ids that corian scratches more easily..is it true? while granite is more lasting. but granite will not come in 1 pc and upon looking closing, u can see the 'joint' lines, whereas corian does.

another word for acrylic is plastics.

granite will last you forever.

hey phx i remember my contractor quoted me the pricing for my granite top, it was around the acrylic pricing you have mentioned.. and yes i agree with mace granite is a natural stone not plastic and as for the lines or gaps mentioned, mine is non noticible!!
