niwdehos 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 As part of my reno i'm seeking to replace the steel grills at the foot of the balcony parapet using aluminium material of the same original design. My contractor has submitted the proposal and i was told by the technical officer i need a QP (qualified person) to endore this piece of work... has anyone encountered this before and do you know what are the charges involved in engaging a QP for such matters? appreciate your advice! oh oh 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 Hi there,Qualified Person normally means a PE (Professional Engr). Charges ranges from $300-450. HDB required these professional to endossed or sometimes supervise the work so that if ****s happens next time, they are responsible and not HDB. Following are useful links.. : http://www.hdb.gov.sg/__48257038002FBAD0.n...;Highlight=2,PeBelow is site for List of registered PEs, you can choose your fav surname and call their Co to ask for prices. www.peb.gov.sg
raincole 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 Quite true, esp if you go around messing around with the building structure, HDB will not approve your permit unless some PE approve.

zirhk3355 1 Report post Posted December 28, 2007 (edited) QP prices can ranges from few hundreds to few thousands! Really depends on your work if standard or not, need him/her to supervise on site or not, etc. BTW why call QP instead of directly just PE, is because QP can also be structural engineer, civil engineer, etc. Hence the overall term Qualified Person, which means this person is qualified to endorse that particular works.I hacked two walls and engaged a QP (I think is normal PE), cost about $400. Later I was caught for illegal hacking and need to do pressure grouting, engaged another QP (think this is a structural engineer), cost near to $3K+! On paper say QP to supervise at site, but even until payment date I also never see him before!Maybe it was because illegal works so I kana 'carrot' by the QP and contractor lor, I duno, but that's how easy the QP can earn money lor. Next time you know what you should let your children work as...hehe... Edited December 28, 2007 by zirhk3355
