We chose the Contiki 16 days European Explorer Tour cos it covered most of the cities that we wanna visit. We chose Contiki becos we wanna travel with a younger and more fun loving group. But I would say this trip is not really ideal...becos most of the day time (precious sightseeing hours) is spent travelling in the coach. You can only view the scenary from the bus. Then when you finally arrive at a destination, it is usually in the evening or late at night and for some places we're departing the next day. There isn't enough time spent at the various location. But the good thing is we are given enough free time on our own to roam around the city and live like a local..they even provided the day passes for us. This is pretty considerate from them. Another issue is, Contiki tours usually consists of mainly Australians...no doubt they are quite nice generally, there is always a social gap between us and them...so unless you're really "western", be prepared that you might feel quite left out during the tour. Lucky for us, our tour had some asians from Japan and Thailand which we mixed pretty well with. For me, I would rather choose to travel with fellow Singaporeans or really go F&E for my next Europe trip. cheesecake 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2007 (edited) Prettibride, thanks for advice! Errr...im not dat 'western' type, most like 'hokkien' type 16 days u also feel its too rushed? Dats wat im worried abt also...but i feel dat if go on tour with local ones, cfm is touch & go type lor. And the prices are quite cheap compared to the ones offered by Insight & Globus..But how do u F&E? I feel quite intimidated by the prospect of gg F&E. We arent reali interested in visiting alot of places at one go, preferably juz concentrate on Switzerland only. Read dat the train system in Switzerland runs like clockwork & shld have no problem getting around but i scared leh...Do u plan to go F&E to europe again soon? heh.... chew@PPLe 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2007 I'm also thinking of doing F&E in Europe next spring. Any particular reasons why you choose Switzerland? I'm thinking of going to... Greece island hopping, Austria, Italy and Holland... but haven't planned yet...

I did F&E in Switzerland in 2005, crossing over by train from Italy. I started off with a good travel guide book(s). Accomodation wise, other than the travel guides, I relied largely on recommendation from fellow virtual travellers. Train and bus travel in Switzerland is relatively easy and very reliable... check out their website http://www.sbb.ch/en/
Prettibride 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 I did my honeymoon with Contiki end 2006...its a winter tour. As Contiki is more popular in places like Auzzie, so expect to see many australians on board...and strangely enough most are single travellers. I wouldn't suggest this tour for honeymooners if u wan to take things easy cos this tour is indeed quite rush with many places just touch n go...we din have enough time to really take in the sights and sounds..Most of the time was spent travelling on the coach across continents...and it is done in the day..so imagine precious day time wasted on the bus...and some places, we arrived late at nite where all the shops are already closed. IMO, bus travel shld b done at nite where we can sleep on the coach and use the day time for sight-seeing. But the good thing abt them is...they do provide enough F&E time for us...more than other tour companies i feel...with good introduction maps of places of interests and sometimes they even provide us with travel pass for trains or bus rides. But u have to be really brave and good in directions to do that...there was one occasion that we were asked to go back to the hotel by ourselves in rome...If you're realli keen in touring Europe...F&E is still the best way to go.
