ak123 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2007 Dear Friends,Please guide us based on your experiences - we are noobs:We are doing up our 2 bathrooms and lots of electrical work and the contractor says:1. All bathroom piping has to be exposed / visible even if we are redoing everything from scratch (HDB Regulation)2. Single / double sockets can only be BOX type and not flush with the wall (HDB Limitation)Is there such a thing? I cant bear to see exposed plumbing after spending 5-6K on each of the bathrooms. Ditto electrical - we are spending close to 2K for rewiring the whole house and will eventually have those boxy sockets everywhere? Please help. Thanks in advance for all your valued feedback.Cheers,Ftak
waileong 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2007 You should check the HDB website then.As noobs, I think you're being too aggressive on these things.

lawry 3 Report post Posted October 31, 2007 I already threw in a lot for the renovation. Still turned out not quite to my satisfaction, mediocre worksmanship aside, it's hardly even "designer" standard .. Quite sick over the whole thing. -_-I wasn't even told about the options to hide the pipes or to hide the wire trunkings behind the walls.. Sounds like an expensive project.Screw HDB, they have a lot of stupid restrictions which I find **** irritating. I wanted the exhaust fan, but ID said HDB said cannot. I wanted a socket inside, ID said toilet wet area, no electricity, HDB regulation!! If I had that, I could at least plug in my Ambi pur airfresher!I should have blogged some of the nonsense encountered during my entire renovation and seek some advice from you guys back then.. *sigh* .. Too late.
waileong 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2007 I would suggest you don't take your ID's word for it. Check the HDB site to confirm anything the ID says...

KDK Exhaust Fans. Its quite expensive but can steal the idea and get somebody else to do it. indee

Too late.I had asked my HDB TO abt the ventilating fan in toilet... he said no problem, can install... if need to change the toilet window to accommodate the fan, then must get a BCA window contractor and apply a permit...better to ask HDB direct... dun rely too much on what ID said...
