mint 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2007 Your ID / contractor ok to seal the gaps for u?I requested my ID to do it for me, but he said usually they do only if the whole house is plastered by them.Did I ask for too much? I just want him to help to apply some plaster powder to seal the gaps along the electrical casings. My home not a lot of casings actually. If its too much, maybe I just do it myself. Which I did, I used the painter's silicon and seal up most of the holes. But heard use silicon is not so good, cos will become black stains in the future. Cos hear that there are 2 types of siliconNot sure which type, but its a silicon. Think its easier to fill the overhead gap using the silicon gun along the electrical box. Yes its the painter's job to smoothen the wall and ceiling (if you shift lighting point, there were be uneven patch, need to smoothen), fill holes and gaps before painting. But heard some painter will say not their problem and ask for extra $$ to do that. They only use the white cement to fill the rest of the holes on the wall, fill the chips along the edge of the wall, etc. Edited October 24, 2007 by Brainstorm

Natasha 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2007 Initially my painter wanted me to pay for plastering/ filling the gaps. We checked with our contractor and he said most customers did not request to cover the gaps. So if we want, we have to pay his painter to do... But after negotiating for awhile, the painter say he do "foc" for us So i still dunno if its included or not...
