Hood Wire - What To Do/ How To Keep It Neater

Is this hood wire supposed to dangle like this? Is there any way we can tidy it up/ keep it neater?

I dont feel like want to waste the space on the top shelf. But looks like my pans will be touching the wire if I keep them on the top shelf.
