An Chuang

Recommended Posts

I also believe marital bed if havent an chunag cannot sleep on it 1st. Got plastic cover also will be meaningless. A bed is a bed. If ppl say must an chuang 1st cannot sleep means cannot sleep lor.

No point taking the risk to sleep on it for a few mths b4 AD and then having the marriage not so smooth for life.

btw, an chuang is a chinese custom not 100% FS.

just that FS has a touch of everything - customs, taoist,...etc

Thanks cherlyn, I go find out how to work around this...hopefully I can get a solution cos moving in next month...not much time liao...:notti:

Air, cannot sleep on the bed.

What happens during an chuan is that the bed cannot lie flat, so if delivery must put beside the wall, leaning against it. Then when it is time for an chuan, lie the bed on the bedframe, dress up with the bedsheet and stuff. Closed the room to prevent anyone from sitting or jumping on it, esp pregnant woman. Till it is time for the newly wed to enter into their room on their AD. When an chuan, can let male children jump on it.

Must move in the new house already? don't you want to spend more time with your family?

Haiz...our mattress was already placed on our bedframe the day the delivery arrived cos we didn't know at that time....and we even sat on it and lie on it but with the plastic still intact....we didn't know we weren't supposed to do that until I went to a friend's house and discovered her mattress was not fully in the bedframe yet....so i guess any an chuang ceremony is futile now??

Reason why we are moving in before customary is because the house has been empty for over a year now and we didn't even stayed in during weekends

Another reason is because whether i move out or not doesn't make a difference to me cos my family isn't as tight knitted so now i go home everyday my whole house is empty so doesn't matter whether i spend more time with my family or not

So at least if i move in with my hubby, I won't face an empty house everyday :dunno:

Since that's the situation, maybe you can buy sofa-bed if you haven bought any sofa. Use it for the time being. But an chuan is like neither here or there, so heck care and just sleep on it :bangwall:

It is good to know you have a loving husband :( As long as you and him are comfortable, so do what you want. Future is uncertain, so better to build a stronger foundation with him now rite.

Ya... Air, if in your heart it doesn't make sense to do the an chuang since you can't follow all the way and don't want to buy temp bedding... then, just forgo it lor. Just be conscious of the need to treasure each other, and to be consciously aware that on the night of your AD that you are now formally man & wife. You belong together, and this is officially your bed together from now on. Perhaps thinking that consciously will fulfill, at least in part, the original intention of the an chuang ceremony.

My hubby and I are still very happy and loving together, so I don't think not doing the an chuang will be catastrophic... It's all about your mind and how you hold the principles and meanings of these customs close to your heart daily.

All the best!

Hi,

Actually the ang chuan procedure does not constitute putting mattress on bedframe. I do my ang chuang after putting my mattress on bedframe.

If your bed has already been sleep on, just move the bed can also consist of ang chuan process.

Therefore, if you have already sit on yr mattress but have not sleep on it, u can probably still carry out the procedure. If in doubt, consult a master. Our ang chuan procedure is advice frm our master (same master who give us the date and time).

Hihi cokelight...thanks for the explanation but i'm a bit confused by the sentences in blue.

So does this mean that I can slp on bed but when it comes to an chuang day, just shift the bed??
