What To Check After You Get The Keys?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Needs some guidance in this. So what happens after you get the keys? What defects should I be looking out for? Do I need to get contractor/ID to check?

Will the contractor/ID check for you FOC if you have not signed the agreement with them :sport-smiley-004:

If you already got a contractor/ID, then it is best that they walk thur the home with you to check for defects. Cos if they dun, any defects after they start work could be blamed on them. So they will usually be quite thorough when checking with you.

If not, then visit my blog to get you started. I used to like you, lost after getting my keys... so i worked on a blog to get people in the same situation started on something :dancingqueen:

Congratulations! Welcome to the homeowners club! :yamseng: heh heh...

depends on ur flat is premium, standard or design n built.

check for cracks, door functional test, toilet bowls, sinks, househod shelter able to close properly, window handle, mailbox, test every key, switches or even shower head etc...

any problem need to report early becoz it'll take some time for them to rectify

Another thing are the wall tiles - try to knock on most of them if possible to see if they are hollow, which may drop out after awhile.

Not sure about your site but I am quite happy with my building centre; I reported some minor defects like bomb shelter door too tight, light switches too stiff and bad TV antenna signal after I moved in and renovation works are over. They came over to rectify them swiftly the following day.

IMO now that the contracting is outsourced, the main con also want to impress HDB mah, so they usually would help to rectify anything possible, unless its an obvious defect done by renovation works.
