I check with the buyer they say they gonna get lawyer letter if i postpone the 1st appointment. hmm, is it really im in the disadvantage here? is there really no option that i have to listen to the buyer?? if they really get a lawyer then can the buyer get the compensation they want? if it is so, do you guys know how much? im curious.. what about the seller side, anything i can do to avoid the compensation? karen77sg 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2007 Perhaps can hv a discussion with the buyer...if yr delay time is not too long, then perhaps can cometo a compromise...If too long, mabbe they cannot accept cos they also need a place to stay, and yr delay may cause theirdelay too....its all connected... zirhk3355 1 Report post Posted September 24, 2007 hi guys, need your advise..Can you tell me what is the consequences if i postpone the first appointment?? I check with the buyer they say they gonna get lawyer letter if i postpone the 1st appointment. hmm, is it really im in the disadvantage here? is there really no option that i have to listen to the buyer?? if they really get a lawyer then can the buyer get the compensation they want? if it is so, do you guys know how much? im curious.. what about the seller side, anything i can do to avoid the compensation? Sorry to be straight here, but you do understand that you had agreed to the date for 1st appt and the buyer, since they are so concerned about it, had obviously made other commitments as well, eg sell their flats, reno, fengshui, etc. Thus, its quite unfair that you said "have to listen to the buyer" - you are in the wrong, my friend! The buyer is actually in the right to ask for compensation, which would probably be the reasonable loss they would incur if the 1st appt is postponed, eg rental.IMO, to settle this amicably, first you got to explain to the buyer about your situation (remember you are asking for a favour here) and ask for their understanding. Then, ask them about their situation why they are not willing to postpone, then be creative and see how you can settle their problems. Eg if they got no place to stay or to put their stuff, maybe you can let them move in early, reno early or pay for storing their stuff in the warehouse?Word of caution: Once you managed settle amicably, remember to put it down in black and white so as to protect yourself. raincole 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2007 $$ is not the issue compare to the trouble of the other parties have to endure due to the change in appointment....If you need to change the date, discuss with the buyer. If they are agreeable, then shouldn't be a problem.
