armani 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 hi... anyone here know whether IKEA's Kitchen sink tap is compatible with most local pipings or it's special size. http://www.ikea.com.sg/products/product_display.asp?id=3470I find this a good deal becoz most kitchen kitchen taps will easily cost 100 over dollars. Even a normal kitchen sink tap without mixer would easily cost over 50bucks. my only worry is that whether IKEA is using special size fittings.

leen 2 Report post Posted September 25, 2007 if you are having a new sink and you purchase the sink at elsewhere, there are no sink tap holes provided. there are 2 options:1st, bring your tap to the hardware shop where you bought your sink and get the people there to drill a hole for your tap.2ndly, give the holeless sink and tap to your contractor. they will do all the necessary work. but do check with your contractor 1st, they are able to give you a better guide.and if you hv an existing sink, suggest you turn off the water supply to your that particular sink and dismantle your current tap. but dismantling the tap need some study into. if your tap is easily dismantle due to its design and the space allowed at the bottom of the sink where the tap and pipe connects, den you only need a normal spanner to turn it to dismantle it. but you need to hv the right pattern (the correct 'seh') in dismantling the tap. but if your tap space underneath the sink is too cramp, you need a box spanner to dismantle which can be bought at hardware shop.so its best to get your contractor to do it coz he will hv all sorts of tools to do it. armani 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2007 ermm... wat i meant was the diameter of the threading on the tap. most of our hdb taps come with a standard size. (i.e. if u buy any tap from any hardware shop, u'll be able to screw them in without any problem.)
