Help For Home Owners By Renoguru

Recommended Posts

Hi all, i am RenoGuru.

I am here to provide advice in how to select an ID firm to the best of your choice.

Please post your questions and i will try my best to answer them.

I have worked in many ID firms before and therefore know their methods and of course credibility.

I am not in this industry anymore so please do not as me for quotations.

A few helpful topics that i can share with all of you is these,

HDB home owners.

Always refer back to HDB for their list of registered renovators.

http://www.hdb.gov.sg/bn25/isos118p.nsf/BN...RChome?openform

1 reason why you should get a registered HDB renovator is because the min requirement is that they must follow certain guidelines when renovating and that is for the best interest of your new home

Secondly, Some firms which do not have their own License, "buy" from off road contractor firms but if anything were to happen, you will be held liable for it not them as they can push away the responsiblity

Example, ABC ID firm is doing up your place but their permit is under XYZ company. So when anything happens, who should you look for... ABC ? Or XYZ ?

If you happen to be at the expo home living fairs, pleae go with an open mind...

Number 1 concern you should be looking at is Company credibility.

Under the Registry of Companies, You are able to find the companies Info and of course more importantly, their business capital, many companies are running on 1 dollar - 6 dollars start up and have never increased.

This reflects strongly on their ability to take up big projects.

Secondly is Company Accrediation.

Companies with a whole list of Accrediation is good but make sure it is relevant.

Some of the accrediations that is Important is

1. HBAY

they only have 13 members out of the 3000 renovators in Singapore

2. Casetrust

Who better than the consumer association to protect your interests

3. RADAC

The watchdog for the renovation industry

4. RCMA

they ensure material and production quality

this is just some information about the relevant certificates that is personally, i think, needed for a company to be called Professional.

I shall end for here...

Feel free to comment or post questions and i shall answer them 1 by 1.

Please do ask me for recommendations if you need.

Hi Reno Guru,

i had renovated my hse 2 years ago but only officially stayed inside since Feb. But these few months, i realised that things are falling apart, eg :

1) Hanging TV console is loop-side now, which means it is starting to give way from the the support from the false wall. Thus tis lead to one of the drawers not able to close properly.

2) Some of the hom. tiles had cracked

4) Kitchen table top is scratched

3) Toilet pipes are leaking

My renovation company can be considered a reputable company and they claim to have 8 years warrenty, plus case trust. But when we called out designer (whom we deal with), he did not pick up his call at all. After all these months, despite of us keeping calling to get them to send our warrenty cards as well as official receipt, they failed to do so.

So now how shd we hound them to come and repair? Can I go to case trust?

Looking forward to hear from you. Thanks

Only 1 company offer 8 years warranty. So far as i know...

Pm me which co and i maybe able to help

btw, warranty if i am nt wrong covers solely on workmanship thus they will most probably call someone to inspect the extent of the damages...

Call up the main company. They will be able to address the problems.

Leave casetrust aside unless main co does not respond...

Pm me for more info.
