Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

Hi!

I found out the name of the granite that I chose.

I found out that it cost around 70 pfr to get a raw cut stone.

It has to be further polished and edges smoothened

and then the installation so all in all 90 pfr is what

it wud cost. So it was a good deal :sport-smiley-003: !!

If get good deals also paranoid :sport-smiley-004:

that's where they 'earn back' the money mah... give you cheap price but give you cheap stuff also. i don't think they will give you the india granite lah. if you take a closer look at the contract u signed it is probably skewed in their favour anyway so you can't use their contract against them.

think the only way you can get your india granite is to threaten to complain, but i don't think that is a good idea cos it will make future communication difficult...

actually frankly speaking if you have only paid a $500 deposit it MAY still be worth it if u choose to drop them and spend the next month looking for the more reliable ID firms (who don't advertise) who quote you 'as is' - without hidden cost, and everything stated clearly in black and white (e.g. XXX brand laminate at up to $yyy psf). those firms usually will usually give you less problem during reno also.

yes they may be more ex, but it is because they usually have a 1-2K buffer included in the quotation so that they can give you some 'freebies' (and make you feel happy) and correct carpentry/flooring errors without complaining.

your own choice lah...

yes yes yes, talking about $1 to $2 buffer, I totally agreed with you.

Each item contain a certain amount of buffer add into the price.

During my first meeting with one of the id, the quotation is abit too high.

And I was talking and looking at the quotation...the boss will walk near me and told the id : can! give discount.

Eg) item 6: $1850, the boss will say: Give him $1750.

Of course I will feel happy about it.

And only they see you happy, you will ask or rather pressure you to sign on the dotted line.

Of course I dont want lah.

After a few days of pondering...I find that I nearly con by their tactics!:sport-smiley-003:!

:furious:

Hi LAK

For kitchen granite top, do bear in mind whether there will be joining line or whole slab of granite.

If there is line, it will be cheaper.

If whole piece of granite slab and cut into the size, then it will be expensive. By how much? I am not so sure.

This is what one of the contractor told me.

Either has a line and pay more to have one piece.

Its surely going to be a whole slab. since mines an L shaped kitchen it will be cut accordingly.

Definitely not those piecemeal type. Tho not Indian granite its a China granite.

He showed me pics of one kitchen he did where he use the same.

Like in wood u can see a pattern ..look somewhat like tiger skin pattern if see whole slab.

i believe upto 8 feet can be one slab ( if I'm not mistaken ???)

hi all, yday I went to a stone & tile shop to look for granite w/o my ID. i asked abt china and india granite, whether its true that china granite is ligher in color while india granite is darker.

the manager told me that china do not produce their own granite. they buy over quarries in India and send the stones back for treatment and resell as China granite.

granite are imported from all over the world. its also difficult to tell which is from what country.
