Hi, this is my first post and I am creating a new topic to gather users to write in about their experiences with Greening their homes. I use solar heater for hot water and energy saving air conditioning. LED lighting is used in most cases. However the house have large windows all around, the house is North facing and no afternoon sun as the left wall is adjoining the other semi-d. A garden on the east side with the greenery causes a fanning effect which does helps in some way to cool things down. The glass windows are hot to the touch, I will need to solar film them. The 2nd floor is a very high roof in the common landing (about 20ft), with a small attic accessed by a Mezzalad ladder. I have installed three roof ventilators which expels any trapped heat in the ceilings, Vornado vans blasting away in the day. However, in a hot day, the heat upstairs is uncomfortable. I have to spend some $ to improve that environment to make it more bearable. This may require additional insulation of the roof, an air con in the attic, more roof ventilators'... I hope this posts will draw in subject matter experts to support a Green home and vendors to sell their Green products in the Singapore marketplace. To give you an experience, I wanted to instal Coolerado air con for my home 5 years ago, but the distributor refused as he said that they handle commercial properties. I wanted to instal solar panels for the home for electricity about 2 years ago, after a phone call or two, they stopped pursuing me. I wanted to green paint for the walls of the house, no one actually bothered to make an effort to sell it to me. ... So there you go, this section is dedicated to anything Green.
