Hi guys, renovated my BTO flat 2 years back. so back then i did an overlay of the floor tiles over the hdb tiles. however i recently realised that there is a corner of the toilet where there is ponding during to floor gradient problem. So now i am considering to re-do my bathroom floor ties to solve the ponding issue. is it possible to just hack the overlay tiles and keep the original hdb tiles intact? will my waterproofing membrane be affected? or if i were to really re-do my flooring i have tp hack everything away, re-do the waterproofing as well? anyone done this before?

Hi All, I was thinking of doing overlay of Vinyl Tiles on my existing on Terrazo flooring for my 3 NG resale flat. However, as the existing skirting is the curved kind (common for Terrazo flooring), it is necessary to hack off the existing skirting right . Was quoted $700 just to hack off the skirting for living room and 2 bed rooms. Need advise to know if the charges are reasonable. Also, I also prefer if its possible to overlay without any hacking. Appreciate all good advise. Thanks all !

hi, recently one of the contractors quoted me for overlaying the floor tiles in our 5i resale bathroom (both toilets). however, we prefer to hack the floor tiles altogether as my best friend experienced a problem when she initially chose to overlay. the neighbour's bathroom ceiling started leaking. so they had to stop work and then redo the entire thing by hacking, thus incurring double cost. so which would you suggest? overlay floor tiles or hacking? this is for a resale flat. any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Hi! I bought my air con from MDS and the air con guy that came fixed the pipe in the main BR toilet in this manner. We are overlaying the toilet with wall tiles, so he said there are 2 choices. Choice (1): As attached in the image, the overlay of the wall tiles will meet the air con pipe, and not go under it. In this way, if the air con pipe is gone, I can see the original HDB wall tile. Choice (2): Install a white casing over the air con pipe, and the have the overlay wall tiles underneath the white casing. My main contractor, who is doing the overlay of the toilet, said it might look ugly. And I believe he hasn't done it before. We are also not sure whether he would do a good job since he hasn't done it before. Anyone went for this approach of using the overlay of wall tiles to slightly over up the sight of the air con pipe?

Hi All, Background of house - Resale flat and old tiles (small tiles) (Living Room Tiles) (Kitchen Tiles) (Condition of wall covered with wallpaper) Due to budget constraint, would like to find out from anyone who had experienced with their resale flat living rm & kitchen overlayed with homogeneous tiles instead of hacking and laying it with 3-in-1 prepacked cement and tiles. ID said better hack existing tiles and do up with new tiles then just overlaying it as new tiles might popped later due to:- 1) potential hollow space in old tiles 2) the moving of the soil etc... Worse case scenario, was thinking of overlaying Living room with homogeneous tiles but hack the kitchen and re-do all the tiles. So, needed advise badly for those who had overlayed their resale flat living rm and kitchen with homogeneous tiles 1) Has it popped so far? 2) Advisable to overlay living room and kitchen? Last qns, 3) as the condition of the wall and ceiling is very original and 'raw', should I plaster the wall and not the ceiling? All advise are welcome. Many thanks in advance for the reply.

Hi all, Just got a premium flat and decided to overlay only the living room and walkway. However, the flow into each bedroom would have uneven flooring. My contractor put a trunking to conceal. I really think it is very ugly. Any advice as to what else I can do to improve it asethically? TIA!! Eh how to add pics.. Lol add later

Hi there everyone, my dad just told me that we can get cheaper price if we outsource separate companies rather that taking an id to do the whole unit. He said that for vinyl flooring, doors and grilles, false ceiling go direct to the company for quotation is much cheaper and its true. i Asked several companies for vinyl flooring and all quoted around 3800. Whereby id/contactor quote me 4454 to almost 5K. As for kitchen cabinet and tiles overlay for toilet & kitchen can ask contractor and id to do. I know it seems a lil trouble but at least can save up a bit. Has anybody done their home this way?? Any vinyl companies to recommend? Any doors company to recommend? And any id to recommend for my kitchen and toilet? Thank you!
