Renovation loan
Goh Lee posted a topic in Reno t-Blog Chat - HDB Resale Renovation & Interior Design
Hi Everyone!!! I want to apply for renovation loan but I don't know if I am eligible. 1) Basic Salary: $2600 Gross $6k-$9k per month. 2) I just work with the current company for 9 months only. Before I join this company I worked as a freelance(no payslip). Cpf contribution only show 9 months. 3) I had checked my credit bureau report it shows GX. No outstanding loan with any banks. 4) Will the bank need 12 month payslip? 5) My gross pay for 9 months of work already reach $58k My ID quote me $40k to renovate the whole 5 room house. Anyone knows how the bank calculate or any chance bank will approved my renovation loan? Thank-you. 31/07/2020- 3 replies

Hi guys, I am getting my bto flat next year. Wish to extend my hdb bto toilet. Wish to ask if anyone has wrote in to hdb and done this successfully before? I dont mind voiding the warranty and do waterproofing on the extended areas. Also appreciate if anyone has a letter template to write in to HDB on this too. Thanks much!

Hi all, I have chosen to use KRONOs Original hardwood laminate flooring for my two bedrooms. I would like a seamless ending so have spent to hack the existing floor tiles and work is now in progress. I did not intend nor have budgeted to change the flooring of the existing living area. However, my id has recommended to overlay it with the same wood flooring due to: 1) existing condition is not good - very old retro tiles with chipped corners here and there 2) he says they will 'warp' in time after hacking and laying the wooden laminate from the two bedrooms and most important and which I find quite incredilous is that 3) he said that due to the 'hollowness' of the existing tiles, when they do the endings at the joints between the bedroom and living floor area, there will be cracks due to the hacking and they WILL NOT be able to use/find 'matching tiles' to replace and the end result will not look good honestly, I was quite shocked and very disappointed. Now it seems I have no choice but to continue the wood laminate all the way to the living area. He has suggested overlaying it at the living area to cut costs (as I was strict about this unbudgeted item yet i want a seamless joint). I am ok to spent another $1500 just to make it smooth and nice for everyone. However, as I am using a light ash grey for the two bedrooms, it will not look good to extend it to the living - the whole place will look too 'greyish' even though I know grey is 'in' but I'm not going for an 'industrial' look. I wanted to use a brown tone for the living floor that has alot more wood grains on it and matches my cabinets colors...but again, having two different will end up with a 't-joint' that he will need to use at the joints!? So I'm like back to a catch-22 situation any suggestions?experiences? Please kindly share/advise. 3 room resale @ Hougang Reno started - week 1 Reno feature - Hacking of storeroom in place of a bar counter Chalkboard feature and planters above rubbish chute

Hi everyone, our renovations are ongoing now. We have viewed over 20-30 units over a span of 3-4 months. We loved some units but some was way over budget. The agent was very nice and she kept showing us despite us being so flicked minded. Finally we decided on this house! The reason being it is NS facing, high level, unblock view from bedroom and windy. It fits neatly into our budget too! Our floorplan: Our main aim for this house: not to look like a conventional HDB. We have no money to stay in condo, but at least we can stay in condo like HDB and so we were telling ourselves. HAHAHAHA. (So pathetic) Like our house hunting process, we went to 10 different IDs (IMM, Balestier Rd, Eunos...) then asked for quotations online. Some IDs are really "chui" and their designs are worse than a 10 year old drawing. Others are very "smoky" and they don't know how to handle the requirements. (Told me cannot be like this, be like that) Of course, there are a few whom I loved the designs but the price quoted is way too high for us. One of the quotations was 120k without changing windows and floor! We have a contractor friend and we asked him to quote as well. However, he kept telling us that this can't be done and that can't be done . Is our design really that hard??? And so after seeing SOOO many IDs and was about to choose my contractor friend to do the renovation already. I chanced upon reno blog and read the review of several IDs. We went to some and called some. Finally, we shortlisted one of the IDs. I called him and he sent us the quotation within 2 hours. Seeing that he is quite keen and prices are reasonable, I went to research further about him on the renoblog. No negative comments, check. Doesn't look like ID, nevermind. Mouth quite itchy, I think I can handle. Ok, him then! This is the design that I want. Hack the wall between the 2 bedrooms, build WiW, hack away the kitchen and extend it so we can have an island. I want to have a room within the kitchen (for maid next time in case)
