  1. We purchased blinds from this company (Avant Garde Curtain Fashion at Balestier) for our balcony last year March 2016. Due to their poor workmanship, they had to send down their contractor three times as the supporting cable for the outdoor blinds keep breaking and falling. When we called for the fourth time since the cables dropped again in Feb 2017, we are told that the warranty has been re-adjusted to 6 months without informing us. Also, we are told that they loose money because of engaging contractor 3 times earlier to carry out the repair. Now we are told to pay for the 4th repair despite still within the stated one year warranty period. Now, despite all the calls and messages to the sales person, Daniel, we are completely not getting any response. Just stay away from such contractors and be wary of their beautiful words before making payment. Please do get all your contractors to fill in the warranty period in the invoice before making any payment.
  2. Just wish to share about the bad experience I had with HoHo Engineering and Renovation Works. Everything seemed fine at first...reasonable rates, accommodative with custom grilles, and prompt appointment made in measurement. After receiving first deposit, everything went downhill. Windows installed had scratches and the rubber seals were poor, misaligned and some plain jutting out. Marker ink was left on the glass, and impossible to clean as it was at the rubber sealed sides. Then grilles were installed and it was a nightmare!!! I had to call them to fix the alignment, the scratches, and gaps. The sides were not joined properly, and the sealant/silicon was a mess...rough and easily causes injuries... and I have a kid! The service was worse, kept taking their own sweet time to get back to me, or arrange the worker to go down and fix. Each time they come down, I'd go inspect, and it would be like NOTHING was done! This went on like 3 times...till finally I had one worker who came down and I pointed out all the areas that needed fixing. He did them on the spot and was the most helpful in my entire experience with HoHo. Not to mention, HoHo is fantastic at CHASING FOR PAYMENT. That would be the ONLY time they would get in touch with me and very prompt. Other than that, it was like I didn't exist. Then when the grilles weren't even fixed, they had the audacity to ASK FOR FINAL PAYMENT. I am definitely not that stupid, to pay them and never hear from them again..with my misaligned and scratched up windows and grilles. Then when it came to the final payment, they told me the amount...which was higher than what I had recorded down. When questioned, they actually said, "Oh, the accounts missed out one payment" and thankfully I had my payment proof. One word of 'Sorry' and yet still they again said the wrong amount...sheesh! NEVER EVER going to use their services again. I do NOT recommend HoHo whatsoever. Their workmanship and service sure befits their name: HoHo...a joke.
  3. Hi Everyone, Some helps needed here, about a month ago I have engaged a ID company(I shall not reveal the name yet until we have complete our renovation process) after signing up the service provided by the Renotalk. We previously found a ID and had his hand drawn images and measurements but he told us he cannot complete within our time frame so he had to back out. Thus this sudden change had led us needing a ID asap as we no longer want to delay the work. Btw, I got my keys on the 30 Oct, we had asked about 10 different companies for quotations and we are only renovating the entire kitchen with cabinets, granite surfacing, one study table, one wardrobe and false ceiling for living and dining area. My house is resale 4A flat about 93sqm. So we found this ID after finding his quotations are quite similar to our previous ID and after much negotiation we decided to sign the contract with him. However, this is one huge mistake made by us that we did not ask him to state the completion date on the contract and some of the details like granite measurements because we are pretty rush on that day. We signed our contract on the 12Nov, he told us that they will need about two weeks to complete the works. However, we did not want him to do everything on a rush so we gave him 3 weeks to complete, till 5 Dec. After signing the contract, our nightmares began. They started knocking off the old kitchen 3 days after signing the contract and another 3 days after to complete fixing the tiles at the cabinet area. (We did not change our kitchen floor tiles so no permission from HDB required as according to them, thus should take lesser time). We wanted a 3D drawing for the kitchen, they promised to give two days after signing of contract but 3D image of kitchen only came up after about 1.5weeks with the first draft which everything is incorrectly done!(We provided them with our previous ID's hand drawn pictures with measurements.) After another 3-4days they finally came up with a proper drawing but still some amends needed. Two weeks has passed, kitchen base checked, false ceiling was done within a day, checked, some electricity work and power points are done and nothing else going on. For the entire process, we keep calling them asking them to update about the process, but they ignored us most of the time until we got really irritated with them and they start updating us a little. The person who signed the contract with us whom suppose to be the interior designer(he can't even draw free hand) and company's manager did not even come down to check on the progress for the 2 weeks! How irresponsible!! And finally, on Monday 1st Dec, the start of third week, they decided to came down and settle the measurements of the cabinets, wardrobe and study table with us. We settled that day with us requesting hand drawn pictures of the wardrobe compartments and study tables. We clearly told them and give them the green light to start with the kitchen cabinets that night. They told us they might need about 3 more days to complete with the cabinets and installation. We are ok with it just three more days, we are fine. So guess what, they took 3 days to came up with the hand drawn pictures for study table and wardrobe like what?! Other ID we went to only took about a min on the spot to draw out! After confirming the measurements and drawing we gave them the green light for wardrobe and study table. We are prepared for a bit of delayed then. We were too tired with the process and did not bother them for the past 2 days and asked about their progress tonight(6 Dec). Guess what? They only started preparing materials for cabinets and not even start doing them! For wardrobe and study table, don't even mention they did not even bother telling us they did not start with it and suddenly they want to make a measurements again. What the... we were so angry tonight and keep asking them when will you complete the cabinet, until then, they finally said they need another 2 weeks to complete the cabinets! That means we are preparing to wait another 3 weeks to complete everything?! That will already be Christmas! We wanted to move in ASAP but how do we?! I looked through the forum previously and found some good ID. However, when we approach them, they told us they cannot meet our deadline and thus we did not use them. For the one we used, they promised and assured they can complete everything by 5 Dec. We have given them all measurements and drawings and did not even require them to design for us.(I guess they can't design anyway). Now that in the contract we did not state the completion date but we have voice recording of them assuring us it will be done by 5th Dec. I'm not sure what to do now, will you please give me some advise, I'm too tired for this... ):
  4. Just to share a bad experience with all of you. A couple months back my aircon started acting up and I wanted to get someone to take a look at it asap. I tried a few recommendations but all were too busy to come by. Searching on Google I came across “COOLCLEAN AIR-CONDITIONING”. Called them and they were almost immediately available. When the “technicians” arrived (more than an hour later than the scheduled time), they took a look at my air-condition unit and immediately said I needed a ‘chemical cleaning’. 1st quote that they gave was $200 (for that single unit). Previously searching on the net I saw other quotes going at $180 so the initial quote was more expensive but not terribly so. After spraying some solution on the unit and general cleaning, he said the job was done. I turned on the unit, it was still not blowing strongly and then the technicians claimed that a further cleaning of the compressor linked to the set as well as topping up of gas was required. At a further quote of $100 (so we’re up to $300 at this point). At the time I was thinking that it was excessive but I wanted to get it over and done with. The ‘special’ cleaning that they needed to do was basically to spray the compressor clean with water. At the same time they claimed to top up the gas. After all that was done, they declared the job done. I tested my bedroom unit against the split unit in my dining area and the dining area was blowing so much more strongly. When I pointed this out to the technicians, they declared that ‘more work’ was needed as they needed to take the bedroom unit off from the wall to clean it further. This was at a further cost of $100! Taking the total to a whopping $400!!!!! Now on hindsight, shouldn’t they have taken the unit off straight away as I already paid for the full chemical wash? The unit finally blew strongly (or at least much more strongly than before they removed the unit for a proper cleaning). They left after collecting $400 and when I asked them what should I do If I faced further issues, to which they answered ,’don’t worry… the cleaning can last 2 years! But any issues just call our company. It’s a big company and will definitely settle it for you’. I guess after collecting their loot, they’d promise just about anything. Unfortunately, less than 2 weeks after the cleaning, the air condition unit started to lose strength significantly. When I was finally (was traveling and didn’t want the technicians coming to my place without me around) able to contact the company to arrange for someone to come and take another look at the unit. Their company’s admin stated that they’d need to charge me again for another visit , after questioning her about the fact that I already forked out $400 for an ‘extensive’ cleaning, she agreed to contact her boss (this was early June) who was traveling till the month end and I just had to be patient. On 1st July, as expected they did not contact me and I contacted them again to arrange for a visit from this ‘boss’. Finally on 9th July, this ‘boss’ came to my place… took 1 look at the unit (he didn’t even open the cover), turned it on, shined a torch at it and declared that the ‘motor’ was faulty. When I asked what made him think so, his response was that he was an experienced technician and could tell. So when I asked him why his technicians did not have that same diagnosis and just went for the kill, he didn’t have anything to say. To end the conversation, he admitted that he wasn’t the boss and that he couldn’t make any decisions (so much for waiting for a month for the ‘boss’). He told me that he’d get his boss to call me to settle my issue before leaving. I followed up by messaging the COOLCLEAN admin but to this day, I’ve not got any response. To finish off, I just want to strongly recommend to all family and friends to avoid COOLCLEAN AIRCONDITIONING (BRN 53321501C)!!!!!! Stick with tried and tested recommendations instead!!
