"It’s a busy day at work but I can’t stop thinking about my entire place waiting to be sorted. I’m moving out this weekend and I don’t even know what to pack first. No one’s gonna be there to help me move. Should I rent a lorry and move my stuff on my own or should I just hire a mover? Grrr, not again. What am I gonna do with this wardrobe and my single bed? I don’t need them anymore but I gotta pay to throw them away? Unbelievable. I should give it to Salvation Army…what, it will take them a month to pick it up? Why is it so hard to donate furniture in Singapore?" This is exactly how the pressure of moving gets to me, almost every year. In 12 years of living here, I’ve moved 8 times. I lost count on the number of movers, property agents, and owners who tried to cut corners at my expense. I wish you never had to go through this but if you’re an immigrant who calls Singapore home, an exchange student or simply living on your own, this would sound all too familiar. If there’s only one thing that I learned that made moving a lot easier, it’s this: LIGHTEN UP. Get rid of everything you hardly use; old stuff that you no longer need. It’s gonna cost to bring them to your new place and it’s gonna cost to throw them away. So don’t. There are good people out there who will be happy to take stuff you no longer need. You can donate it to someone on Free Loved Furniture group or post it on a recycling community, Freevo Nation, to clear it fast and free of charge. The point of all these is to make someone happy; yourself. Moving to a new place is supposed to be an exciting thought! Now breathe in, breathe out, you got this.

Hi guys, I have read quite abit about movers in Singapore on this forum. However, most of the posts are pretty outdated. My line of work really require a few good movers to recommend to my clients. I have had pleasant experiences as well as horrible experiences. I will do my due diligence. Thank you very very much in advance. For now can we start with Vimbox Movers? I have seen quite abit of this companys review here BUT they are pretty outdated and the most recent one was a pleasant experience. And they are listed as Top 5 Best Movers in Singapore, which is confusing. Also I have contacted the participants of the topic about "Vimbox Movers Review" that I have seen previously and i sincerely hope they participate in this forum. Please check your inboxes I look forward to all input. Thank you. Plus I need to shift a few furnitures too so I may as well use one of the recommendations.

I just started my small reno work on the replacing the flooring. It was a tough between parquet, laminate and vinyl tile. At last, after talking to several vendors. Decided on vinyl tile as it is cheap and good for old folks and kids if they like crawling. Will start another topic on this journey after I have finished the work. Today, I just wanna share a great experience I have with this vendor while preparing for my reno work. Used them a while back to store personal items as they were cheap, charge me $48/mth for 12 carton boxes of items and that was 2 years back(have never increase my rent and heard from friends who paid more after initial promo) So, in order to do the reno, we have to remove lots of furniture to be stored away. After making several comparison. we decided to engage them as they saved me lots of trouble with coordinating between mover and those self storage and I am also not sure the size to book. I send them photos and they came back with a quote and guarantee me that price quoted will accommodate all the items stated. I have heard stories from friends who got a cheap quote from self storage and when they engage mover to move, the mover did not stack high during moving and already wrapped everything so they have to pay twice as much as the space quoted by the self storage could not accommodate the items. I told them to do a good job and will help pass words and am currently fulfilling my promise. I was pretty impressed, we ordered empty boxes and tapes for packing and after that they helped me to dismantle my bed frame and use cardboard to wrap my fridge and washing machine and it was really hasslefree for me, the manager Wendy was on site to help with inventory documentation and sign all the contracts. In fact. the price was lower than quoted as we decided to give away some furniture and they reduced the price accordingly. I do not even need to travel down as they did almost everything like inventory, dismantling, move and stack everything nicely for me into the storage. The other great thing is if I need any boxes to be retrieve during this period, I can let them know and they will helped me retrieve it out or deliver back so I do not need to unstack, that will be very helpful for ladies like myself and old people. Let me attached some photos here. Thumbs up to them I liaise with Eddy from PayU Storage and here is his info WhatsApp https://wa.me/6597563849 and their website herehttps://------.blogspot.sg They have some great tips on how to pack safely for moving inside too.

I had contacted BAC Christian Movers and spoke a lady caught Angie to move certain items eg. Mattress, fridge, bed frame, sofa, coffee table, dining table and chairs, from one house to another. She said that her movers could move anything and as agreed on the phone, the price to pay was $275. Before coming to our place the day before, they asked for an increase of $10. Upon coming to our place, they demanded and increase of payment of $120 to move our bed frame. We immediately turned them down due to the sudden increase of payment. They continued with the moving of other items. Upon delivery of a fridge to one location, they demanded my renovation contractor at the other location to pay an additional $150. Which after we told the renovation contractor not to pay but we will pay after all items are moved. Halfway through, they THREATENED to ABANDON the moving items if we did not pay them the additional money. PLEASE DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!! They use these kind of scam tactics to get money out of you. 12 Dec 2017

Dear all, I had a very bad experience with this mover -- Advance Care Delivery Pte Ltd. This company's registered address is in Tampines St 93. They have another company called Advance Creation 'N' Pack Pte Ltd. The contact person is Bernard. Avoid using Advance Care Delivery Pte Ltd at all costs!! I have a few boxes that need to be transferred to another place. Since there are not many things to be moved, so I decided to look for a small moving company rather than the bigger companies or more established companies but now I regret for not engaging the services from the more established ones!! I called them up a week ago to inquire on the quotation, as well as to ask if they can provide free boxes for moving. The person in charge, Bernard told me that boxes are free and they can deliver to my address before the moving date. They said I have to pay a refundable deposit upon receiving the boxes. I further clarify with them if they will deduct the deposit from the total moving cost on the moving day itself and Bernard said I only have to pay the remaining balance on the moving day. **So far all moving companies that I came across do not charge for boxes if they claimed it is FREE boxes. BUT beware of this company, they will charge you for the so called 'free boxes' and also other hidden costs!** THe moving is scheduled to be few weeks later. they delivered the boxes to me the next day after I called them to make appointment and I noticed those are USED boxes. It's NOT brand new boxes, but USED boxes from previous clients! Well, nevermind, I can still use it for packing. When I start packing my items, I took a look on the receipt given to me again and noticed something is not right! the receipt stated ;the boxes are on loan, with refundable deposit of xx" I was shocked and puzzled, why the FREE boxes have now become 'boxes on loan'?? they did not tell me they only BORROW me the boxes, and NOT giving it to me for FREE. When I called Bernard, he sounded very rude and impatient, asking me what;s my problem so I asked him to clarify, he then shouted over the phone saying 'why you want to keep the boxes? You didn't tell me you want the boxes? Since you are going to unpack, you have to return us the boxes within one month!!" I asked him it was not make known to me the boxes ARE NOT FREE! Other moving companies can provide free boxes, why can't his company provide free boxes as they claimed??? DON't ADVERTISE FREE if it is not meant to be free!! Please see below for their website where they claimed they provide free boxes, free wrapping services and free quotation. Now they want me to return the boxes after I unpack or I will be charged for the boxes!! Does that mean they will charge me for wrapping services and quotation on the moving day itself?! This is ridiculous! http://www.adv-delivery.com/service.html I immediately told him I'm not interested to engage his moving service anymore and I want to return him the boxes, all of it and refund of my deposit. The moving has not done yet and it is scheduled one month later and boxes are not used at all. Guess what the fellow told me? He said vulgarities over the phone and told me cannot refund even though his receipt stated 'refundable deposit'!I'm really pissed off and disappointed with this company! This company has the intention to cheat at the very beginning that's why they said 'free boxes' but on the receipt they wrote another thing hoping that you didn't see it! I kena cheated and I don't want anyone to get cheated by the same company, so please beware of this company and avoid them at all cost! and also kindly spread the words to your family and friends to avoid using this company as they are dishonest and have the intention to cheat at the very beginning! Those who used their services before and who also be cheated by this company, please share your experience here with other readers. Thank you!

Just want to warn nice folks here not to use this mover which my friend engaged a month ago. The company is Premier Transport and Mover Services at 22 Sin Ming. The sales guy and supervisor name is Alex **82799482**. This Alex charged them $880 to move their stuff from a Holland 3 rm flat to Jurong East but did not complete the job. The movers were supposed to come another day to move the rest of the stuff and help setup his teak wardrobe, wooden bed but did not keep to their promise. Have also damaged some of their stuff. Have been siaming my friend's call for more than 3 weeks. Called the company, the secretary said boss always overseas, can only call Alex to settle. They ding dong him here and there but did not solve his problem. Poor guy now don't have a bed to sleep. The worst thing is he run out of budget and have 2 young children to look after. My friend and his wife are very nice and kind couple. Probably too nice thus bully by these ppl. This Alex is really very heartless and evil, I hope nobody will use them. FYI, this company charges by hr. On the surface looks cheap but I think the workers take their own sweet time to do the job. Thats how they con ppl money like what they did to my friend. Be careful of such unscrupulous company. Anyway some of our friends and I came out with some money to help him out. Hope the mover we use from the recommendations in this forum will be better.

I wish to share my moving experience about Yong Shen best mover. I was recommended by my Cousin he told me Yong Shen did the moving for his company, their movers are very experience and professional. They completed the 4 truck move in about 5hrs. The supervisors is very friendly and the movers is very cooperative when they move whatever his boss told them. My Cousin also told me the company were invited to the channel 8 program. But I also saw some bad comment about the company and after discussing with my husband, we like to give a try to their moving service. On the moving day, they come with 2 truck and 6 movers as like my Cousin say they were very fast. The movers wraps everything at the trolley and start to load up to the truck, before going to my new house they told us to see the truck it is completely fully load. The supervisor explains they base on truck load, so it is important to show customers the truck is it fully load to prevent misunderstanding. After finish the move the supervisor told us to write a comment to get the promo discount. I am very happy with their moving services that I have paid $800 for the move and I have no regrets using them thanks to Yong Shen best movers recommend

Hi. I hope this is the right place to post this.. I am keen on buying furniture from UK. The shop does not ship overseas and I don't want to use services like vpost since they only ship by air which will be very expensive (buying a 1.4m high cabinet). Does anyone know any good movers that will help to ship furniture from UK to Singapore by sea? Thanks.

I used Hometown Moving Services on my 7th time of moving house, and I now regret that I didn’t use another mover just because of a mere $100 difference. I chanced upon icompare.sg, a website that promises to offer multiple quotations for 1 enquiry. I signed up and asked it to recommend a moving company. Strangely, it only recommended me one, and that was Hometown Moving Services. When I requested for more through the website, I didn't receive any more replies or recommendations. It was only later that I learnt from the mover boss, Jeffrey, that he is on very good terms with the staff in the referral company, sigh. I went ahead with Hometown Moving Services since it was recommended and the price was right. Jeffrey assured me that they are an established company since 1984 with a Facebook page. I went into their Facebook page and thought I hired a cheap & reliable company after reading it. The moving plus miscellaneous charges (excluding deposit for boxes) would work out to be $900 for up to three 14 footer containers. That is where my nightmare started. On 8th January, the Hometown movers came late by over one and half hour, attributing it to a CBD jam. Unluckily for me, it rained heavily in the afternoon. As mine is a condo, moving has to be finished by 5pm. My husband pleaded with the condo management to extend till 6.30pm for us. Hometown managed to move two containers of stuff to my new house. When I came back from work to my new house, I was horrified to see my coffee table and two of my cabinets scratched. These were bought and moved into the original house two years ago at a cost of close to $5000. When they were relocated by Hometown’s movers, they acquired long scratches at the sides and front which were very obvious. These didn’t look like accidental bumps; it was more like the furniture had been roughly dragged across a surface. It really made my heart ache as these are my prized pieces that I took a long time to hunt for. Naturally I started complaining and making noise while the movers were still fitting the furniture; because it wasn’t just one piece, three of my precious wooden furniture got scratched. I unwittingly uttered a word ‘stupid’ in a fit of anger. Suddenly, one worker confronted me and yelled at me “why you call me stupid?”. I was in shock, I never expected a worker to shout in my face, when the word wasn’t directed to anyone in particular (I was just expressing my dismay at the unfortunate situation). My usual way of letting out frustration is uttering words like s-h-i-t, stupid, seow, faint ah, goondoo etc. I believe most of us have this habit. But he insisted I called him stupid, he turned very aggressive and kept scolding me, in the end, we ended up quarrelling. He also accused me of calling him ‘bastard’ when I actually said ‘basket’ (another reflexive swear word). He stormed off and told his supervisor. His supervisor wasn’t any nicer, he told me I should say sorry; he even rudely asked how a mother could behave in this way in front of her children, telling me he was a father and he would not show such example. Well, this time round, I did ‘apologise’, but in an angry manner because I can’t believe that I was being featured as someone bad in front of my child. I just wanted to end the episode of senseless squabbling … I shouted ‘sorry’ a few times back to the worker with my hand waving out to him. Suddenly the supervisor shook his fists several times right in front of my face, and shouted at me, “Is this the way you say sorry?”. My god, I shook my hand at a distance at the worker, he shook his fists right in my face, almost hitting me and yelling at me at the same time. I was very angry, my furniture had been damaged and the workers were close to physically assaulting me. I called up the boss, Jeffrey, and said I was not paying till Hometown finished moved the third container on the next day. I was worried they would mess up my things or cause further damage as we were now in conflict with each other. Jeffrey promised he would get his carpenter to restore the furniture. I seriously doubted that they can look as good again, but is there any choice? Jeffrey said the workers were hired on a daily rate, so they need to be paid on the spot after moving. He promised me he would give me a new team the next day, thus I paid. I was told to pay cash to the workers, but I was not told earlier by Jeffrey so I had to make a trip to the ATM to withdraw cash. That has never happened in any of my previous moving, where I had just issued cheques. Despite the damages caused by Hometown and the conflict that had just transpired, I paid as I would not short-change the other workers due to the bad attitudes of the two that quarrelled with me. I began to suspect that Hometown uses ad-hoc workers that are inexperienced in moving, as I have never suffered so badly damaged furniture before in my previous seven times of moving house. On the next day, Hometown Moving Services caused another horrifying experience. This time, the new parquet flooring in my children’s room was badly scratched in a few areas, one of my fan’s blades was broken, my storeroom shelving was left outside my house, and my small cabinet was missing. The Hometown movers did not heed my maid’s instructions to move the boxes to the right places. In fact, they put some in wrong places and we have to carry and move the heavy boxes to the right rooms. Out of plain laziness, they didn’t dismantle the two metal shelves in the rental house; they just carried and moved them to my new house and then said one could not fit into the storeroom, so they put one shelf inside the store and left one in my corridor. That night, my hubby and I had to dismantle it and then reassemble it inside the storeroom. It took us a whole morning as we are not apt in handling such work. I called up Jeffrey and asked why he given me the same team, he told me the other team cannot find available time to move house. He complained one of his men got badly hurt while moving my bunk bed. Gosh, it is as if my furniture is to be blamed for hurting his worker! If I have been informed earlier that day about having the same team, I would have taken a day’s leave and make sure everything is done satisfactorily. Jeffrey was aware of my concern about having the same team, but he still put in the same team without my knowledge. When I complained about Hometown damaging my new parquet, he promised he would get his carpenter to fix my flooring and damaged furniture at one go. Today is 24 January, it has been 16 days since we moved. Jeffrey has scheduled two appointments for his carpenter to come to my house; for these two times, I took leave because I really wanted to see my precious furniture properly restored and for two times the carpenter didn’t come and Jeffrey failed to inform me. When I sent an angry SMS, he messaged my husband that I threatened him. I admit, I threatened to post a negative review in his company’s Facebook and complain to the referrer (icompare.sg). Unsurprisingly, Hometown Moving Services’ Facebook page has disappeared completely; that is why I decide to post in forums to warn people of this terrible company. Jeffrey kept saying he is responsible, or else he wouldn’t complete moving my house on the second day. Gosh, I didn’t know I need to be grateful that a mover move the rest of my furniture on the next day if they cannot complete moving in one day due to the rain. It is their responsibility to finish a paid job regardless of unforeseen circumstances! When I told him the moving issues in my house, Jeffrey lamented about Hometown’s problems. If he thinks he is not making money moving my house, then don’t take up the job. Jeffrey said he can’t give a definite date for the carpenter because ‘it is a favour’ and it is not included in the moving package. Now he makes it seem that I need to patiently wait for him to get a favour to restore the furniture that HIS movers damaged, so again I should be grateful ... even though the carpenter has never come as promised. Jeffrey said the damages are accidents unavoidable in moving. In my seven times of moving, nothing of this sort has happened before. Only once has my children’s bunk bed not been fitted properly, and even so, the moving company responsibly sent someone to rectify that promptly. If it is damage on one piece of furniture, I could just dismiss it as an accident, but it happened on TWO long cabinets AND my coffee table. There must be something terribly wrong with their moving technique. My master and third bedroom’s parquet were not scratched with the first day moving, but why on the second day, my second room’s parquet had suffered so many scratches caused by the SAME team after the squabbling incident. Jeffrey kept saying his movers are experienced, but experienced movers would not drag my heavy massage chair to test if it was working. I mentioned I wanted to discard the massage chair, so they could have tested it out to see if it could be salvaged for themselves. That is okay but the way they dragged the chair to the power point left two long lines across the marble flooring of the living room in the rental house. Headache! I requested time and again on the moving day that they discard three big items in the rental house but Hometown did not want to do so as they said they were short of time. In the end, I have to pay much more to get another moving company to remove them 2 days later. My advice, NEVER get a mover simply because it is cheap. And avoid icompare.sg if you need recommendations. Check if the moving company has insurance. Jeffrey told me it was not necessary to keep cost competitive but I learnt my lesson painfully. My furniture, fan and new flooring got damaged, I had fists flying literally centimetres from my face for the first time of my life and I was accused of threatening when I got angry that he never keeps his promises. Has he realised who is the one being victimised and threatened from the beginning? Where is the customer’s rights? You won’t find it in Hometown Moving Services. Jeffrey hinted that I should have a heart for the underprivileged and he says ‘who wants to be movers’. I do charities, but on occasions deemed appropriate. When I move house, I want professionals; sorry to say, but I can’t afford hiccups and I can’t deal with ‘rough ‘people when things happen. I shiver at the thought of being aggressively confronted by two male workers in my own house. I thought local movers are better, and I have always supported local workers; I was wrong, they are not necessarily better as some lack the right attitude. If only I knew that Jeffrey is a smooth talker, an ‘armchair boss’ employing underqualified movers that cannot handle my furniture properly. He twists everything I say to make it sound as if I, the victim, is in the wrong. Here is our SMS conversations and photos of my furniture, you can be the judge. http://postimg.org/gallery/27pcogsas/
