Where To Get Wallpaper ?
LittleDevil replied to Kesmond's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
You can go Goodrich. There are a wide selection of wallpaper there. Prices could vary depending on the quality you choose. Address: Goodrich Building 8 Changi South Lane -
I have glass backing throughout my kitchen cabinet. Beyond that, the kitchen wall will be painted due to budget contraint. But I guess should be fine since after putting in all the cabinets, the exposed surface should not be a lot anyway.

Yup. Received quotation from them about 2-3 months ago. Quite reasonable. The guy we talk to very experience and sincere. Recommended by my friend whose house is done by him. Good aftersales service. PM me if you would like to have a copy of their quotation. -
Last evening, after spending a couple of hours on our sofa-hunt, we decided to drop by Centrepoint Robinson to start looking around for our mattress as well. After reading so much about the art and science of mattress selection, I would have thought that we would make the purchase in a very systematic and analytical way which will probably take at least a couple of weekends and probably a few white hairs to accomplish the mission. Prior research in this forum helps to narrows down the brands to the 3S since they are the most highly recommended by many forumers. Personally, I favour Simmons among the three brands. Surprisingly, we threw all the technicality of mattress out of the window when we are at the store. We simply rely on our body to tell us which mattress they felt most at rest... We lied on each of the mattress (which are within our budget), flip and toss about, feeling the support offered by each of them. Since both of us like firm mattress, our choice became quite clear after several tries. The bad thing with this "go with your feel" kind of purchase is we don't really know the market price. After all the complex discounts and rebates, the queen size Simmon BackCare 3 costs $2828. It comes with FOC mattress protector and 2 pillows. Can someone comment if the price is reasonable?

Hi Baguana, Nice home! Your dining area looks interesting. May I know if the table and seats are custom made by your ID? What is the cost? Thanks.

It's inconvenient for us to disclose the individual prices as it's our friend shop. The shop gives us the electronic ballast for the kitchen and guest room ceiling light which is supposed to generate less heat and more energy saving.

This weekend our ID brought us to Goodrich to choose wallpaper for our bedroom TV feature wall. There are so many choices over there. Finally we managed to find this... BigAngel found a wallpaper to his liking... one with a stone texture... but no more budget liao... so next time lar...

Dining Light Hanging light for our MBR seatee Ceiling Light for Kitchen Ceiling Light for Guest Room "Menthol" light for our toilets
-
Thinking of getting one of these... may I know which shop you bought this light from? Thanks!

Yeah, like the place very much as well. Walkable distance to MRT and in close proximity to all the amenities. Initially considered open concept kitchen too but scared of the spread of smoke and smell. With kids around, I guess your main consideration will be safety and durability.

The WIW is fabulously BIG! So envy the nice 3D perspective drawings you have... I only have 3D carpentry drawings...

Foyer Lighting Hey, your choice of lights are great! How much you pay for the foyer light? Looking for something similar for my foyer. Is it made of crystal?
-
Wow! Love your toilet... the black and white dotted tiles... very nice!
-
Master toilet! Two rows of glass mosaics at the vanity corner... a mirror will be place in the centre with light coming out from both sides of the mirror. Entrance of Master Toilet also patched up nicely... 3rd row of glass mosaic at the WC position. That is my tiny-WIW... only 4.5ft x 2... dunno how to squeeze in all our stuff... L-box at MBR still not done yet... electrician forgot to do wiring for this room... coming down to fix it by this week.. L-box of study is completed

More pics of work-in-progress... The original wall tiles of kitchen have been covered up with plastering... not doing new wall tiles for kitchen as it costs much much more expensive. The pipes at the corner will eventually be boxed up. The new kitchen floor tiles. Choosen a brownish heavy duty homogenous tiles for my kitchen. Adding a bit of rustic feel to the kitchen... Common toilet wall and floor tiles all done up! Like the glossy reflective surface of the wall tiles... The edges of the common toilet entrance were being patched up nicely.

You are one of the lucky ones!! I am squeezing in two rows of top & bottom cabinets to maximise storage space. However, scared that the place will look cluttered so use a lot of glass to lighten the look e.g. glass panel/door for kitchen entrance, top cabinet doors are all frosted glass and the backsplash is also frosted/white glass. Changing the colour of the bottom cabinets as the grey turns out quite dull. Actually you can consider to do a full-height cabinet for maximum storage? But then you will have less worktop compared to top-bottom cabinet.

Agreed with the seller on the price around Nov/Dec last year. The valuation was $510k then. Used up much of our "housing fund" But we really like the place... so bo bian lor.. we already queued 3 times for balloting and always ended up at the very end of the queue... and we have seen many resale flats on sales in the market which mostly asking for high COV - even for a flat in Sembawang! Can't believe it!! Too tired and stress over house-hunting so give in to the seller lor... but no regret lar... but will definitely not shifting house for the next two or three decades!

Here is the final space planning for our new home... For Foyer - Pebble wash with slate tiles - 5 ft Full height shoe cabinet - Seatee with drawers (for the socks) - Still looking for a nice foyer light... For Living - Retaining previous owner's bomb shelter feature wall - Raised platform near the window - with laminate finishes - 6ft feature wall with TV console - Aiming at a leather L-shape sofa from Mondi - Still looking for a nice coffee table For Dining - Half height black tinted mirror at the side wall - Aiming at a black tempered glass dining table from Mondi - Bought a set of 3 white acrylic hanging lights.. not sure if the white can match the black? For Kitchen - Fixed glass panel and glass swing door for kitchen entrance - Insist on having two rows of top & bottom cabinet to provide ample storage space but leaving only slighly more than 1m of walking space in between... - Frosted glass backsplash for easy maintenance - Still struggling with choosing the laminates for kitchen cabinet... need to match with my black galaxy granite top and has to be easy maintenance (white). - Ordered small sized kitchen sink (L810mm) and hob (L700mm) to allow larger working space - A tall unit for built-in ovens - Ordered a side-by-side samsung fridge - like its modern look For Common Toilet - Shower kerb with shower curtain (can hide all the unsightly pail behind the curtain.. hehe) - Salad bowl washing basin - Still looking for a mirror vanity box - Door to change to blesglass laminated glass bi-fold door For MBR - 2 x 4.5ft WIW with curtain entrance - A triangular seatee near window (with storage cabinet) - Can only squeeze in a queen size bed - A bedside table for misc items - 7ft TV feature wall with tic tac door to conceal air-con ledge (wallpaper finish... choosing the design this Sat!) - Two-tier laminated ledge for DVD (need to get one wtih compact design) & SCV For Master Toilet - Wall to wall vanity top with suspended cabinet - Shower kerb with shower glass door - Toilet door changed to frosted glass swing door For Study - 7ft built in wardrobe for storage - Ready made furnitures to ensure flexibility of room conversion in future. Plan to have a study table, a display cabinet (for my kitty collection), a two-seater sofa/lounge seat/relax chair For Guest Room - Nothing is planned except the basic (lighting, flooring, electrical, painting)

Yup, the reason why we bought the place is because of its square square layout. The condition looks good because it is a 7 year old flat. The previous owner probably stay there about 5 years plus. From far it looks quite clean but actually it is quite dirty with stains on the kitchen countertop and some dirt marks on the floor tiles. But since we wanted a fresh look for the place, we made the decision to do a major overhaul. Unlikely to do box-up... will take up too much space. Plus the position of piping in master toilet is worst... it's like everywhere! Most likely will ask ID to paint with similar colour as the tiles. Hope they can blend into the surrounding.

My 90cm-wide 10mm clear tempered frameless glass swing door c/w handles & hinges at Kitchen entrance is priced at $500.

With kids around, I guess when selecting furnitures, consideration should be given to the selection of material (e.g. avoid using too much glass) and design (avoid sharp corners). Material/colour chosen should be easy to maintain e.g. white sofa not recommended here, materials which are prone to staining and more difficult to clean should be avoid as well. Use of mirrors and glass are still possible at a height out of reach of the little kids e.g. cystal hanging lights, frosted glass door panel for top cabinet, mirror/glass incorporated into the top part of the feature wall. Although educating the kids of the danger of playing near window is more important, you may consider intallation of window grille to put your mind at ease. To allow your kids to display their creativity, you may give them a wall in the kid's room to draw? Probably you could paste large pieces of plain/coloured papers on that wall? A fresh coat of paint every year is all you need to make the wall looks new. Kids also need lots of space to run about. Avoid cluttering the house with too much furnitures or decorative items. Use lots of bright colours will also help to cheer up the kids!

Actually i quite enjoy talking to the designers... can learn a lot from them. Anyway, attached some photos on the work in progress (taken about 2 weeks ago)... The homo tiles are done but not the skirting... Still waiting for my pebblewash... wonder how it will turn out? The living hall looks so much better just by removing the window grille... Hacked off the kitchen entrance wall to bring in more lights to the otherwise gloomly-looking space. Will be installing a fixed glass panel with glass swing door. Guess there will be alot of wiping to do in future.. Common toilet half done... wondering anyway to make the unsightly piping less obvious?

No choice lar. Know nuts about renovation. Need to source around for more quotation to get a sense of fair pricing. also trying to pin down on our space planning and design... speaking to the designers do help a lot! We used two months to source for the right ID firm cause we believe that a good ID will make a great difference to our reno experience!
