  1. Hi everyone, came across this topic and guess many of you love quartz countertop alot. However, Silestone is not the only one that does quartz in Singapore. There're other companies that does quartz too! One example is Four seasons hotel. I'm not sure when Silestone came to Singapore, but I do know that the countertop in Four seasons hotel are not made by them.... Just search deep enough, you may get something at a more affordable price.... Cheers!!
  2. Pardon me if I'm wrong. I think solid surface are mostly consist of acrylic and aluminium oxides and some polyster fillings. The higher percentage of acrylic the better it is. So regardless of the brand, just ask the percentage of the acrylic inside. However, a 100% acrylic will deform (burn) at about 130 - 150 degrees. The more fillings the lower the heat tolerance.
  3. Pardon me if i'm wrong.... 12mm more sturdy than 10mm. YES. 12mm is stronger than 10mm. Pressure, YES. Impact, NO. (Any glass weakess point are the corners, give a knock, it'll break into pieces regardless of the thickness) Anyway, whenever you have any tempered glass install at home, you can't know for sure they'll last. Cos they might have knock onto a sharp object before that will weaken them but can't be seen by naked eyes. One more impact on the spot will cause it to shattered. So if you're looking for tall glass, go for 12mm for it's sturdy not the strength (if for vertical application).
  4. I guess you should focus on the material and thickness as well as how they assemble your drawer (if its made of wood) rather than the runners. replacing a runner is easy ( get a pair of stainless steel "3-layer Steel Track" as micki translated with as many ball bearings as possible ) this kind of runners are good enough to hold systems close to about 50 kg .... however, can your wooden drawers hold such weight over the years? Afraid not....
  5. Most of the slab comes in 8 by 4 feet for stone. However if your hob and sink are side by side, your ID may split them into two piece so as it will not break when transporting.
