Wah, ur reno is fast de loh! Hope that the rest of the reno will be just as fast!
-
Wao! Love all the bright colours in ur place! Makes the whole house a very happy and cheerful one.
-
Nice place. Too bad you're not retaining the kitchen cabinets. The oven and hob looks good actually. Think you'll save alot since you're retaining the flooring.
-
Wah! Huge tv! Sure very shiok if you play PS3 with it. hehehehee... More pics please!

No probs, glad it helps. Hee, we love EMs cuz of the space, and there's more privacy when guests come. Actually after using gas tank, it's still ok. Just that have to sacrifice a cabinet space for the tank. I wanted to go for induction when I heard that I'll have to use gas tank at first. But after hearing that induction uses lots of electricity, I decided against it. Moreover my ILs live with me, and if my MIL cooks, I'm sure she'll prefer the traditional way of cooking.

Yah, I tink mine started a couple of weeks after yours bah. I agree it's better to shift in after it's complete, if not, they may take their own sweet time to fix the rest of the stuff, since you've moved in. Wah, this weekend shift in ah? Congrates congrates! -
familyof4 Hee, I saw afew that I like for the kitchen. But this won in the end. It's hard to stick this on, cuz of all the words! It'll take about 2wks if you send directly from US. apples Thanks! I love them as well. rasp Thanks! I got it from www.etsy.com The balcony doors are retained from the previous owners, along with all the window grills and panes. Paiseh, duno the cost.

Wah.. Ur island with the light is nice! Ur reno quite long liao leh, did ur ID say when it'll be completed? -
New Additions Decal for my kitchen door (pardon the HP pics' poor resolution. Duno where's my cam). Had a super tiring time putting up this decal! Little potted plants from IKEA that my hb named "Fu Lu Shou"

Hehe, looks like ur reno will be very friendly to the pockets.
-
Wah, shiok leh, big enough for dual use. I'm really looking forward to ur place's overhaul.
-
Haha, ur sellers really one kind. If I'm you, I'll tell them "oh, u can keep all the keys. I'm not going to use ur locks and will use ours immediately" Then can see his face change. hahaha.. Ur place very spacious! Will you be using the balcony as a balcony or as a service balcony? Think ur kitchen looks big as well. Agree that they study's mirror looks good. Will you be keeping it?

Haha, true true. How's ur recess area coming along? I rem u said CPF ok liao. I wana see ur recess area with the pretty foyer tiles leh....

Wao, that's quite afew contractors/IDs you've contacted. I think with ur sketching abilities, engaging a contractor will be good enough! There's no need to get an ID who will just copy your lovely sketches. Haha, we did think of doing glass sided toilet in the MBR, after staying at a hotel that did exactly that. But we realized that it's not very wise when hb got up at night to use the toilet and switched on the lights. It immediately woke me up. For a good night sleep and privacy issues, frosted glass and some walls are better. Can you imagine one of you doing some business inside and ur kids or parents walk in?

Oh, icic. No wonder why you say no wall tiles. Should be no probs lar. I always see decor programs on TV and browse pics of kitchen in those angmo countries. Lots of them use paint and some backsplash. If you cook often, just get a good chimney hood should be fine bah.

Wah, ur dining area sounds very class with black/crystal lights and black glass top table. I heard that black glass's maintenance is a killer though.
-
Congrates congrates! Finally get to see your floorplan. Very very nice one. I actually love the planters and ur idea of converting them to mini balconies. Simply love balconies, and u got a big one there. Can always "go out" of the house for fresh air and enjoy the view.

Haha! Oh well, I guess I'm not fated to have Ah Soon as my contractor.

There should be a layer of sealant applied to the marble after polishing. Maybe cuz it's been a long time since the last polish, that's why it seems raw/rough now. Check out this link about marble polishing. I was searching on how to care for my marble floor previously and found this webbie. Hope it helps. My place also uses tank gas. That's the problem with old flats. I got to know it just before my 1st appt, and really wondered if we should go ahead with the purchase, as I hate using gas cylinders. But to let this small problem stand in the way of such a nice flat... In the end, we went ahead with it.

Woohoo! Congrates on the start of ur reno! Got take any pics of the hacking? The dining lights are very nice and classy. The sales pax at extreme (George) also recommended that toilet light to us, but we got another one in the end.

EDL and Jennings are the brand of the laminates. I took pictures of the laminates and posted them in the tblog (can't rem which page though, paiseh). U can always browse through for the colour codes and names. We also headached about the kitchen top, whether to get solid surface or granite. But after reading that light coloured granite not very good, we decided to go with solid top. It looks great now. The only thing is that we have top wipe away spills or water immediately to avoid any stains. But well, it's a good habit to cultivate, so it doesn't matter. Oh? No wall tiles? How come? Then what will you be having? Paint? I think for those who rarely cook, paint for the walls is fine. If you are worried about the hob area, just add a glass or s/s backsplash. Just a note. If you believe in FS, then you may need to reconsider the red/white kitchen, or check with ur FSM if it's fine anot. There are forumners who say that too much red in kitchen is not good, as it'll promote more 'fire', which may lead to more quarrels. PS: I just went to "bio" ur tblog's pics. Ur kitchen wall got tiles leh. U just going to change the laminates of the cabinets izit? Should be easy maintenance bah.

Hiera - haha! Another one! Maybe I should have asked my mom to transfer me there when we shifted there at age 7. I have already studied at my pri sch for half a year before shifting, so didn't want to shift as I had friends there leow. hehehehe... pinklady - Thanks for the compliments! I bought it at Robinsons, Raffles City. The brand name is Akemi. apples - Harlow and thanks! We love our kitchen too. I used EDL and Jennings for the kitchen cabinets. Tink the red is from EDL. I used solid surface for my kitchen worktop, the brand is Acelite. We chose the one with little sparkles in it (can't rem the name of it now). So far, it's very easy to clean the laminates. As for the solid surface, it's fine so far too. Most prob cuz we're so paranoid and careful with it. We've been putting stuff on those cork placemats to prevent stains/scratches. The grease from cooking is very easy to clean from the kitchen tiles as well. Overall, easy maintenance. zonkkie - Thanks! That's what we wanted too, not too showflat and cozy. Heheh, at least friends/relatives won't be afraid to touch stuff or lounge around at our place when they come over. hehehehe... Yupz, it's a nice long journey. We recently went to IKEA and got 3 little potted plants for our balcony! My hb named them "Fu Lu Shou". hahaha.. Show u pics of them soon. hehehe

Haha, I asked Native02 for Ah Soon's contact before I started my renos too. But was told that he's very very busy during CNY that time, and won't have time for my reno. That's why I didn't engage him.
