Hi Amberfish! Which area are u looking at? JE or JW? Well, it's really up to you. My hb and I were searching for an EM previously, and we saw one on 2nd flr that kinda fits our requirements. But I don't like low floors, and we did nt get it in the end. After awhile, we found our ideal unit elsewhere. I also asked around whether 2nd flr is good anot. A fren (who stays on 3rd flr) told me that there seems to be more dust, mosquitoes and other crawlies. Yet another fren said that she can't wait to sell her 2nd flr unit and vowed never to get low floors. However, there are frens and forum frens who said that it's very good, citing reasons like not needing to wait for lifts, easy to run for buses, cool and breezy etc. A fren told me that when she drops clothes fr her bamboo poles, it's very easy to go down and retrieve it. There are some people who say that as long as ur house is clean, there won't be more than usual creepy crawlies. What I'm trying to say is that u'll be staying at this place for quite awhile. If you can't accept 2nd flr units (like mi ) then don't force urself. U may just be a house viewing away from ur dream home.

Hehe, gd gd. Tink extend by 1mth is gd enuff liao. Ur sellers will have more than enuff time to search for temporary lodgings. Yesterday we just told our seller's agent that we may not be able to allow they to stay the extra month. We need to sell current place as close to our purchase 2nd appt, if not we'll need to pay instalments for both house. And since current place is financed using bank loan, it's even more complicated. So to avoid using cash to pay the instalments, we may need to take over new hse asap & start the renos.

Same here, Jessie. My hb and I like the big recess area. Can put bicycles there.

Won't it be better to have the dogs' enclosure at the back of the kitchen instead of in front of it? There'll be more ventilation as the window is there, and when wana clean up the poo/pee it'll be much easier, since toilet next to it. Then next time when got guests come and u wana close the dogs in their enclosure, they wun need to pass by the dogs to go into the kitchen.

I tink it looks very interesting. And it will visually lengthen ur living room. Maybe if ur artwork is a different one (not those abstract lines and paints type), it won't look so noisy. Maybe u can try with a large scenery foto or sth? Or if u like those abstract pics, then find those with same colors as ur lines?

Wao. Luckily I read this thread. A contractor quoted me $900 to "change all piping to stainless steel". Wonder if they mark up or it's because my unit is an EM.

Oooo! Sungei Kadut! Hahah, we recently went there. And we put deposit for a living room set!! Hehehe... the Furniture Club set includes 2.9m sofa, 2 small storage cabinets, coffee table and a modular tv console. hahaha... Can't seem to help ourselves, cuz previously we saw this set at IMM and fell in love with it. hehehehe.... Lots of stuff there. Can go c c.

Hehe, so when's the delivery date? Ya, muz have those big items like sofas etc to make it a complete home. Hehe, at least got ur bed liao. The last time I shifted to my current place, the bedframe not ready, gota slp on mattress on the flr. hehehe.. Ooo, I tot that the higher u go, the noiser it'll be? Sth abt noise travels.. But ya, if new place nw face main road, it'll b noiser. Tink after awhile u'll not notice it liao But bus stop dwnstairs good! Very convenient. hehe

Just a thought.. If u allow them to extend to 30Nov, u may not be able to spend xmas in ur new home. After all, u still need to do renos, cleaning up and shifting over. Hehehe..

Hmm, I tink nath.adrie has a good suggestion. After all, u wun b able to enjoy ur house or do renos woh, so doesn't make sense for u to pay for ur instalment or interest. But if ur instalment is only like 1k per mth, then 2wks rental onli $500. So i'll say just go ahead ahead and charge them $1k if u wan. Also rem that u have to take into a/c if u let them stay longer, will u need to rent any place to stay etc. If yes, then they should be the one paying. If not, not fair to u. If not sure abt the rental rate, can always call up afew agts and chk wif them the rate, then u decide again loh.
