  1. Yesterday when I went to my place, I saw a balcony with those greenhouse roof. It's basically open air with a glass roof on pillars. Looks rather shiok. Can consider this as well. Then can use bamboo blinds to prevent rain from coming in. Hee... so shiok! Can enjoy new house already. I know u have a little sausage doggie name Greddys (think I didn't spell correctly). How about the other one? Yah, and reno loan cannot use cpf woh. If can, think everyone's house super nice liao. eheheheh No privacy leh... At least enjoy ur new home for awhile before renting out bah.
  2. End of Reno Day 9 Pics Nothing much for the past 2 days. Maybe 'cuz there were fewer workers at my place, or cuz' they had to wait for the cement base to dry. Foyer floor done, except for skirting and front door kerb Kitchen low wall, washing machine and cabinets base done We love our kitchen already! Fridge and cabinet base done
  3. Ur house is really looking great! Sorry to hear that there's so many problems to rectify. Just hope that the rest of your reno journey will be smooth smooth. I think ur staircase looks great as it is. Maybe can consider to paint it white to blend into the surroundings? That way, u'll save the money by not redoing it.
  4. Wao, that really is alot of steps. Usually only hear gota buy pineapple, oranges/apples and some offerings. Sounds really interesting. Hehehe..
  5. Confirm plus chop man! But I think it'll be a very very long time before we think of shifting, cuz we simply love our new house and it's location very much. My contractor told me that changing of window grills very easy one. If ur budget very tight, why not keep the grills for a while first and change next time? If the grills are in a bad condition, then change those impt ones first, those in bedrooms, keep for the time being? Haha, yah man. But I think nowadays, most young couples don't like rockstone. Those that have rockstone, either keep it cuz of tight budget or plaster it. Heehhehe, if it's kitchen wall, I'll try to build cupboards there to hide the rockstone. Then can save $$. Too bad it's at those exposed areas.
  6. Oh! U're keeping the floor tiles arh? Wah.. the workers hack the base very neatly sia.
  7. Spam chop and congrates on ur new home! Wah... It's so nice to stay near IKEA... Can always go there for meatballs and salmon. Ur place looks very well kept. The kitchen also seems very nice. Is the floor in the service balcony tiles or those vinyl covering?
  8. Harlow! Haha, hope that the final product will be nice bah. Now feeling my pockets getting lighter & lighter liao. Can't wait to shift in and enjoy it.
  9. Har? His quote is too high arh? That's sad then. I thought that his quote will be good, and u can use it to convince ur hubs to use him instead. Good luck in the search bah. Well, like what pinkpetter said, he's out of ur life liao. So just throw away all those stuff and enjoy being a new owner of ur very own house!
  10. Yah.. I would love to go without a roof at the balcony, and do a retractable awning. Too bad my sellers did the roof, and it's such a waste to hack it away. U staying in ur new home already?
  11. 1. roof 2. Roller shutter 3. Retractable awning 4. Bamboo blinds (for those with roof without windows) Can only think of these few. Cost, not too sure. U can check with the companies that do such stuff directly.
  12. Yupz, very heng. Cuz last time when we were still searching for house, my hb did comment that plastering is v x, and won't be able to plaster the whole house if there's a need. So when I found this house, I was very happy, cuz everything plastered liao (or so I thought ) Wah.. Ur place already $1k plus.. Tink mine will b about $2k plus then.. *faint* Hee... yah loh. $300 still ok.
  13. Oh, haha. Nope, we don't need to do whole house plastering. The exposed areas have been plastered by the previous owner already. Abit confused right? hehehe.. 1st owner did rock stone. 2nd owner (my sellers) plastered the exposed areas. Now I (3rd owner), have to plaster the previously hidden areas as they were not plastered during the last reno. So it's not the whole house. I think whole house will cost ALOT! So I'm actually very heng, to need to plaster small areas only.
  14. Cool! Good luck and all the best! Hmm... So maybe there'll be soccer, etc as one of the games. Sounds interesting.
  15. Wah.. So fast start hacking liao! Can start buying your kitchen stuff like sink, hob & hood le! Looking forward to see your new kitchen.
  16. Still ok lah. It cost slightly less than $300. But it's still an un-budgeted amount loh.
  17. The wall in the pic is in a bedroom (my PIL bedroom to be exact). There's another wall in the same bedroom that needs to be plastered as well. Other areas that exposed rock stone walls after hacking are the old air con trunking area. My kitchen ceiling also needs to be plastered as it's not smooth. All these area will be exposed in the future, with no furniture to hide them, so we have to plaster loh. If not, some parts are smooth walls, some portions are rock stone... Very ugly
  18. Hee.. That time when I took the keys I was not very excited as well. Maybe 'cuz we allowed the seller to stay for a few more days. And also 'cuz we felt the responsibility weighing on our shoulders. Ur agent is good! Will fight for you. That time my sellers also same, wanted to keep a spare letter box key for convenience sake. And we told them no, as we have a few letters that will be sent to that address liao. Have you shortlisted any contractors? Or are you still finding more to quote?
  19. Hee.. More pictures please! Love the bright pink room!
  20. Reno Day 7 Pictures Time flies when you are having fun. And reno (with it's up and downs) have been very interesting so far. The search for contractors, lights, kitchen stuff, toilet stuff... Can just imagine the thoughts and effort put into making our new house a home that we can be proud of. Here are some of the pictures that were taken over the weekend, during our on-site discussion with our contractor about carpentry and electrical works. Old air-con taken down Electrical works for dining and Level 1 walkway Electrical works for living and balcony Anyone interested in these cute door knobs? Still rather new and it's a waste to throw. But I don't intend to keep them as they won't match my decor. Unknown extra cost.. Previous owner did not plaster behind the cabinets. Now we have to plaster these, and a few other areas. To be hacked, as that area should be another type of tiles. Birdie eavesdropping on us while we were discussing on the electrical work in MBR.
  21. Hope everything goes fine for u too! And that the FSM won't give too weird recommendations.
  22. Spam chop and congrates on ur new home! Wah.. shiok leh. HDB redoing ur toilets. *envy envy*. The victorian series will make the kitchen look interesting. But I agree with ur wife that the red does not match. Maybe bottom victorian laminate and top cabinates white?
  23. Congrates on getting ur keys! And I hope that ur seller shifted out today.
  24. Hehe, agree that the floor looks good. And I like the extra wardrobe idea! More storage means more space to buy & store clothes!
