  1. Yoz, I also went to Poh Joo to get my toilet stuff. The very cheap ones for my wash area cost $120 (WC) and $38 (small basin). The nicer ones for my common & MBR toilets cost $190 (each WC) and $120 (each basin). There are lots of sales everywhere now though, so most prob can get lots of good prices at most places. Good luck and enjoy ur search.
  2. Wao! U guys went to alot of IDs. Hee... Congrates on confirming an ID. Can start on making ur reno ideas come true.
  3. Yah! I know what u mean, after the comments about Red Apple from other forumners. Just hope that we'll be one of the lucky few who won't have any trouble from them. *pray pray* We did tink of going back to Henderson Rd, but since the price and design were similar, decided against it to save time. U know where Scanteak and Oriental Handicraft are? It's along that street. The shop is actually a wholesales, so they may not open all the time.
  4. Hee.. Thanks! Yupz, it's the National one. George asked me to choose 1 out of the 3. I chose National, cuz the design looks the nicest. Haha, then he told me that it's the most x one. I was actually looking forward to some door bells with interesting music, etc. But he said it's the simple ding dong one. Hehehe.. Yoz! Yah, it's really fast! Hopefully they'll be able to handover earlier or at least on time. Yeah, the awning was done up by the owner. So saved $$ on that loh. To do up the awning is very scary loh! U know, when the air con guys came to install my compressor, they did not have any safety harness at all. AND, they wore slippers to work. I was like sooooo scared for them. Hee... It was design vs pricing. And obviously, pricing won. Hee... I can't rem the brand liao. It's those normal ones, but energy saving as well. But I know it's not Philips or Osram ones. Those we'll have to add extra $1 per bulb. If you're concern about the tubes & ballast, upgrade them by adding $3 to the price. $1 each for the 2 bulbs and a better ballast. It'll be $22 per downlight then. Still a good deal. But George, the sales person, told us that we don't need to do that. If you really wana know, I'll check for you the brand when the lights are delivered on Wed? Yoz, no worries. I actually didn't share that in the blog. I got it from Red Apple, IMM branch. The price was $850nett after some bargaining. We saw other similar ones at a beds/mattress shop along Henderson Road. You may wish to check out there as well. Quite good prices and got afew nice selections.
  5. Lights from Extreme Lighting Yay! We've confirmed all of our lights and they'll be delivered on Wednesday. Although not all the lights are what I would prefer to have, but at least we're well within our budget! Total spending: $1,335 (includes a free doorbell ) 26 of these 2x13W downlights at $19 each Foyer light Dining room light All 3 toilet lights MBR Mirror light (2nd from bottom) Staircase light Kitchen Light (Bulb will be changed to the round tube instead of the butterfly tube as shown) Other 2 bedrooms lights. We chose the middle one for the 2nd pic. MBR - downlights
  6. No worries gerl, just glad that everything is resolved. Wah!! U went there also arh? That guy George is a nice guy hor? Hehehe... Show us ur lights soon k? hehe.. I bought those 2x13W ones at $19 each! Was thinking of whether to top up $3 for better bulbs & ballast. But George told us that those that he gave are good enough ones, & dun need to waste $$. Hehehe.. But just a note to everyone else, the lights at Extreme are rather limited. Very good deal if you wana buy downlights or simple lights though.
  7. Haha! That was my reaction also, to my contractor & my hb. I always read that forumners take afew days to clean. But my contractor said that they'll clean the whole house b4 handover, so it should be fine. And hb said that we just do usual cleaning and can shift in liao. Hehehe.. Hope that I'm just worrying too much bah. Oooo, ur kitchen worktop sounds nice! The yellow will match ur cabinets woh. Hee... Just hope to share more info with the rest bah. The more chit chat, the more info shared, the more we learn. I'm also going to Kong Tai to buy the Hitachi WM! But I'm aiming for the 9kg one.
  8. Ur dining light is nice de loh!
  9. Wah seh! Good for u! Ur lights r very cheap! How much does ur downlight cost? With good ballast & bulbs? hee.. I also bought lights yesterday. So happy with the lights. Haha, yah. The price tags at PJ are not the actual prices. Like my kitchen tap, it was stated as $85, but in the end, it's $70. Ah Soon really fast sia... Wed ask ur to deliver the toilet items. Thur ask ur to deliver lights. Have ur bought ur kitchen electrical items? How about curtains? I gota think about curtains liao.
  10. Pics posted by all of us are for others to gain ideas and . I just feel that we should be sensitive to the owners and to the original IDs who put in the hard work to do up the 3D layouts. It's not right for any of us to re-post w/out the owners' knowledge or to mislead others that those 3D pics are done by them. Rondy, thanks for removing the pics as requested. Roamca, hope you don't mind that I asked Rondy to remove them. The links to those lovely 3D pics have been kindly posted above by pinkpetter. Harlow harlow! I bought lights!!! But I left my hp cable in office, so can only upload the pics tomorrow. I bought all lights from Extreme Lightings. Total cost: $1,335. The selections there are pretty limited, so some of the lights were not what I hoped for. But well, we're on a budget, so just make do loh!
  11. Wah, very good idea! Ok, I'm going to do that tml!
  12. Haha! Speaking about convenience, I think that was why ours was requested to be sent so early! So sad to think that the owners (us!) are not the first ones to use the nice nice WCs.
  13. I think my black ones are plastic ones. But I didn't hold them, so I duno how heavy they are. Just hope that they are not too heavy and will crack my tiles when dropped bah.
  14. No sad no sad. Ur flat in relatively good condition right? Just take it that the cash was used to do the reno loh. Hmm, I thought we only need to seek HDB's approval if we wana install a WC in the wash area. To include a shower area should be fine right? After all, that wash area is to wash things and the place is expected to be wet woh. So shower should be ok bah? At least, that's what I think.
  15. Yoz, I used a similar wood look-alike tile for my foyer & balcony. And my contractor used brown grout. Very nice. Really should consider as tiles are much more tougher than laminates.
  16. Hee.. Don't take my word for the P/S trap hor. Cuz I still dun really know much about them. I just repeated what my contractor told me to the sales person, and they showed me the WCs accordingly. Then the S-trap WCs also have different inches as well. Mine is 6" i think. Well, that does sound logical. To change tiles is very leh chey woh. Now I gota rem that I gota refrain from dropping my handspray. If my tiles crack cuz of that, I'll be super heart pain!
  17. Hmm... I thought I saw sth like this in another forumner's blog. Anyway, I thought that roamca wanted white and lime green for her kitchen?
  18. Wah.. U settle on ur lights liao ah? Very fast sia! Hee.. next time then buy loh. I think a mixture of ceiling and standing lamps will be very nice. More interesting. Take time to rest ah. Not good to make urself so tired until cannot enjoy ur reno and wedding process. It's once in a lifetime leh.
  19. Haha, icic. Oh well, can always come back to walk walk & makan. Sg so small, go everywhere also very easy.
  20. The size I'm not too sure leh. Cuz every shop I go, then only ask me "u wan 13W one or 18W one?" But I think mine shd be the 5" bah, cuz I wan those that can only put in 13W lights. The larger ones can put in 18W or 13W, but I find them about the same. So must as well get the slightly smaller ones, and save $$. Hmm.. That's interesting. All the shops that I went to, none of the staff asked me that qns. hehe Hee.. Can either measure at home, or search online for the specifications. The actual specifications will b very accurate. Wah, exciting leh. After the bases done, will b electrical works, then painting, then carpentry, then u can shift in after they wash liao. hehehehe... Oh! That's so near my place now! So ur parents still living there? Or they shifted liao? Hee... Next time when u come visit ur parents (if they still stay there), can drop by to chit chat. Oh ya man! I love the mkt. Love the location too! Go left got all these mkts and shops, go right got NTUC and more shops... Hee... Recently just realized that the nearest food court is a 24hr tingy.. So hapi..
  21. Wah.. Hope u get the waiver soon then can continue ur reno!
  22. Hehehe.. At least that's my way of thinking. Do whatever u really really don't like, & will see very often. For those that u don't see often and can bear with it, KIV till got more $$ then do. Those that u can live with it day-in-day-out, then keep. Alamak, I don't reali know hw to explain. P-trap toilets are those to b fixed to the walls. S-trap toilets are those to b fixed to the floor. Sth like that. Hahah.. That time our contractor told us to get 2 S-traps one and 1 P-trap one, so we get loh. haha Hee.. Matt one v niceeeeee! Haha! Yah, I agree with u. It's either get a unit that's as terok as possible so can hack everything, or get a nice nice one and just move in. Sometimes when u get a halfway-there-reno unit, it's pretty hard to agree on what to keep and what not. Hehehe.. Very good purchase! $0 COV and can redo everything to ur liking. Hehehe..
  23. I think the depth of the false ceiling/L-box is standard, and you can just buy what you like. So far, the electrician or our contractor did not ask us what type of lights we're buying. We just discussed on the num of downlights that's all. My false ceilings do not have any holes for the downlights as yet, so I suspect they'll see what you buy, and then cut the correct sized holes. Still got time lar. Yeak did not rush u guys rite? Electrical work will include rewiring (if u doing), extra electrical points, lights, etc etc. So it'll take awhile loh. Oh, haha, haven do the base yet ah? Then I believe they'll do that first loh, cuz my sequence was all bases then electrical works. The workers will have to tile the bases as well woh. Did Yeak rush u guys for the type of WM/fridge u'll be getting? I sent him my dimensions, and he did the bases around that size loh. If u're using Rondy's layout plan for u, the workers will have to do the short wall btw ur cabinets and WM. It's square ones. I'm not too sure about the round downlights; didn't check on the prices. This is the address: 371 Balestier Road S(329788) Hee... Did Ah Soon tell u when he needs the lights to be delivered? I think it'll b pretty soon for u. Weekend is here tml, faster go and chiong lights shops.
  24. Hee... That's cool! That means after tiling he'll be doing ur electrical works liao loh? Fast leh. I think my electrical works maybe today then finish. A worker that I met yest told me that, and that the painters will come today. Hopefully everything will go smoothly. Did Yeak tell u when he needs the lights to be delivered?
  25. I think ur ID's suggestion is fine. The downlights are about 5ft plus apart from one another. There are pple who do 3-4ft apart. So ur ID is actually saving u abit of $$.
