I like ur marble's colour! It's really easy to match with any other colours (unlike my beige/brown marble). Check with your contractor if your marble is polish-able anot. They'll advise you on the conditions. However, just be prepared for the natural cracks in the stone. For mine, after polishing, afew little cracks appeared. Our contractor told us that since marble is natural stone, it'll have cracks in them. So after polishing, where they polish off a thin top layer, sometimes cracks will appear. If the cracks are little, they'll be able to plaster it up. But not all, esp the big ones. Hope you have a smooth reno process, and show us more pics!

The previous owner hacked away the utility room liao, so we retained as we like our foyer to be big too. We just redid the flooring there and built a full-height shoe cum storage cupboard at the side. The wall that u see right in front when u enter is the kitchen's wall loh. We didn't hack any walls during our reno. Haha! Play mj at the foyer? Then all my neighbours who walk by will see our cards. hehehee... So far, we've been playing at the passageway there loh, next to the little soreroom. It's big enuff to play and let pple walk thru & fro.

Hee... It's better to be aware and worry now, then to suddenly realize tat $ no enough and worry. At least now tat u are aware, u'll budget better.

Throw throw and throw more stuff. And the rest will be able to fit in. Or else, build more storage. Like mine, I built full height storage at my foyer for shoes at bottom and books/DVDs/stationary/umb/etc at the top. A cupboard in wash area to store toilet paper/cleaning liquids/hangers/laundry stuff. More storage in MBR for our personal stuff. So far, we only keep vacuum cleaner, trolley, my hb's suitcase (mine can fit into my wardrobe), extra paint/tiles, cooler box, extra foldable chairs in our little storeroom.

Enjoy the reno process, the stress, the budgeting, the anticipation, etc. Any possibility of getting loans from ur parents for the reno? At least it'll be interest free.

*pat pat* Don't worry too much, things will fall in place and everything will be smooth. My hb used to keep stressing about our reno budget. But I told him not to worry, things will be fine in the end. In the end, we not only did not burst our reno budget, we spent lesser than expected. Plan out a budget and try to stick to it. It's actually good to discuss ur concerns with ur gf, so that she'll know wat's going on. As the saying goes, 2 heads are better than one. As for reno, do the things that are a must-do first. If not it'll b a hassle if you wana do them after u shift in. Strike off those that are nice to have or bearable. There's no need for a feature wall, or a huge WIW or to hack away walls. A pretty coat of paint and interesting decor will make the house a home too.

Wah.. after reading the experiences of mafia_lim, I tink I'm really lucky. mafia_lim, aiyo, ur experiences sound really bad man. How can they just anyhow give things to you, and give u the excuse that they forgot? Hope that everything will b fine on Sat, and that this whole episode will be over.
