My Renovation Budget
vex replied to zzx23's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
agree with immunity, cannot get for the price for the listed items. i suggest do away the kitchen cabinet for time being and use ready build cabinet. use the money saved to do a good flooring and nice paint, this will give the whole house a wonderful look. other things can slowly add on in the future. -

i am going to start renovating my house soon, and have seen about 10 contractors\id over the past 2 months and understood their quotation. the things i have learnt is that all contractors can do the same things and these are a standard list. but most of them dont give you much design or visuals (except few photos here and there and from magazines). Only one brought me to their customers' house to view (which i wasnt too impressed anyway). So in the end i gather that what differentiates them is thew price and most importantly, the trust factor and capability level. For capability and integrity, you either have to judge yourself, or go with a proven and recommended one. The contractor\id is afterall just someone who oversees the project, which is being outsourced to many other sub-contractors.

bad service attitude should not be condoned.but we also have to understand that as consumers, we buy furniture once in a few years, but for the furniture salesman, they deal with customers everyday. so while the cusstomers will be very careful with their purchase decisons, sales people are usually less patient. hence the conflicting expectations.

yes ! what stake yuo play ? for me 5/1 or 1/2, friendly game. have a few long term steady friends to play with.

thanks. i am thinking along the line that buy a cheap yet reasonably good sofa, can change after a few years, than to buy a very expensive sofa and change only after many years. cos may be moving house in the short term.

Thinking of buying a l-shape leather sofa from seahorse as it is leather and quite cheap (1k). anyone know if it is good ? any experience ? cos usually cheap is not good, hence am apprehensive. thanks.

same newbie create two nicks. one to ask for recommendation, another to recommend his own shop. lol . pathetic ..

it is indeed a fact that plasma consumes more power than lcd, yet you bring out other point like plasma has better pixel quality to rebutt her, and your opening statement is nothing but rude and smelt of arrogance. if you think you know well, at least dont sound so rude.
-
so you are alan from mega store after all, right ? just as some of us have rightly guessed it. too many sales men from shops soliciting business in the name of group buy. and forever there are gullible readers falling for it for a perceived pice savings. pathetic ...
-
i also feel this is not like a group buy, more like soliciting customers for a business. take a hard look at it.

my hitachi fridge which i bought from *spam, spoilt twice after just over a year old. regret getting it. i then learnt that it is made in malaysia despite being a japan brand. next time i will get a korean brand fridge instead.

thats the common sentiment in forums. if you read them up, there has been many complaints (some even an entire thread) about philips products being of sub-standard these days and new purchases failing prematurely. yes, they used to be a good brand of electrical appliances, but not anymore these days. why i say philips tv are the worst is because, for the same specs, the other brands offer better value, and add in the quality issue, it adds up to the conclusion. i do know of a few cases of philips lcd tv being really hot and the owners have traced it to the lcd, while this is not prevalent in other brands. also, if you compare picture quality, philips' tv doesnt stand shoulder to shoulder to other brands, eg. samsung, sony, even lg, but their price is.
-
you wont get much response in this thread, because most people think that of all tv brands, philips tv is the worst. and since you mention brand reputation, fyi philips has garnered a bad reputation for their products in recent years. i guess you are attracted to the ambilight which is glowing lights at the side of the tv, which is not a new feature since several years ago, and after a while when the novelty is gone, you will want to disable it as it serves no purpose except use up more energy, not to mention philips tv are very hot (you will feel the hall has a working oven). anyway since you bought it already, just enjoy.

i find that you are the type of customer who are hard to please and think your money is super big. Look, you admit the scratch wont there when you received it, and it appeared thereafter. So what can you complain about ? Obviously it is due to your own usage which caused the scratch, and you want them to be responsible ? Where got product that covers damage due to own misuse one ? Even if it is a marble table, if you scratch it, it is your problem. Just a small scratch and you spoil the company's name like that as if it is a rogue shop. At least they attended to you already, what else are you not satisfied with ? And you are the one being nasty here. I am sure many forumers feel the same about you, just that they keep quiet about it only. Some customers just are very ngeow and self centred... tsk tsk.

Materials That U Regret Using/ Installing
vex replied to st002's topic in Home Maintenance & Repairs
my biggest regret is having laminated flooring in my three rooms. i strongly advise everyone NOT to do it. it is a matter of time it will warp, because when wash floor the water will sip in inevitably and then the pieces will slowly and surely start to become uneven. -
i fully agree.
-
i agree there is nothing wrong on the practise of the said sales person. it is imperative that a sales person will try to sell his/her own company's product. do you actually expect them to tell you otherwise ? eventually the decision is yours, and every company will try to sell their strong points. nothing unethical.

you are spewing nonsense. mattress that comes with bedroom set is no good, so you are implying only expensive ones are good ? You also got it wrong, the 3Ses are Serta, Simmons and Sealy, not Slumberland. So what about other establish brands like Nightingale, Dunlopillo, King Koil, Omaz, Four Star, Max Coil and many others, they are not good ? Establish means good ? Then only BMW and Mercedez are good, the other lesser prestigous car brands are not good. What logic is that ? Some mattresses spend a lot on marketing to portray a high class image can only fool naive people like you, who will likely end up paying a premium for their marketing. Pay to read those internet statistics ? Many of these web sites are related to the brands they 'advertise' and so they have nothing but good things to say about a brand, only fools will buy it. Paying for these statistics is paying to be fooled. For your infor, and this is free, many US brands manufacture their product in other country, so it is not that a US brand must be made in US. In actaulity many renowned brands manufacture their mattresses in other countries, the technology and manufacturing standard is carried over and applied to the manufacturing. Like Levis is made in China and the quality is unquestionable. The statement you made about the 3Ses being the safest buy, is laughable. Pls dont anyhow advice readers when you are so naive.
