  1. For L-boxes and cove lightings, you actually get to control the amount of light you need. You can switch on the lights at the places where you hang out, turning off those where no-one is occupying. Without those, you will be forced to constantly on the 2 or 3 fluorescent lights that light the whole living room Normally, I dun use more than 40W of lighting at one time
  2. the thing is how much you want to spend on a drill. For myself, the drill will most likely be chucked into the storeroom, seeing daylight maybe less than 5 times in a year, hence, an in-expensive consumer class will be sufficient. Of course, if you got more budget, go for those used by professionals. As always, the Wattage is important. No point getting a professional brand, but does not have enough power to drill through your walls
  3. you could always profile with wireless first. if its no good then u see how you want to do with wired
  4. I've heard that signals riding those homeplugs can be rather noisy, hence may not be as fast/reliable as you expect they to be. Some homes are wired in a way that homeplugs dun work. You may want to borrow one and test it out first. If you really want to go wired, you cannot run away from running cables. Mayb can get your electrician to run the cables for you if u dun want to do it yourself? BTW, y u dun want to go wireless? The current Wireless-N standards are pretty decent. I'm using still using yesterday's wireless-G, and with 4 PCs accessing the network, I'm still able to stream HD videos from my server quite well.
  5. best is to get the salesman to connect the tv to the free-to-air signal and show the differences to you in the shop. watch the "demo" at the same distance as you would at home. I'm using 42" and I found it to be more blur compared to another smaller 32" in the bedroom (same brand), but still acceptable to me lar
  6. how much is your budget? How frequent u plan to use it? If once in a while, think no point getting one that is too ex.. but one that is of enough power, at least 700W for concrete work. 850W and above lagi better I currently using a 710W Black & Decker (B&D). So far so food. quite easy to go through my HDB wall concrete. Cost abt $150 and comes with a whole set of drill bits. Decent for home/occasional use. Makita also worth looking at. Used to use that before changing to B&D. Can consider DeWalt also (sister brand of B&D but for Pros). I heard Bosch uses those quick-release mechanism, hence the drill-bit may be more ex than those normal chuck-key type. However, the contactors I seen got use Bosch. So far have not came across any uses B&D. If u have higher budget can consider HILTI also.. tried once. very shiok.. but a bit too ex
  7. just wondering, are you using coax or optical for ur digital output?
  8. vinegar is one of the cheapest and most environmental friendly disinfectant/cleaner around i usually mixes 1-2 caps of vinegar to my usual floor cleaner when I mop the floor.
  9. Basin Cabinet is restricted by your existing basin probably more feasible to get a carpenter do custom one for u
  10. Normally buy at Hoe Kee. They have many branches e.g. IMM, Plaza Sing. Found they have a very wide range. quality wise quite ok. Price also very reasonable.
  11. I did the same for my 5-rm flat as well... but mine all non-inverter
  12. I asked my ID to help me source for the PD door. less headache
  13. you can try get Starhub to give you the contacts of their approved electricians, then you contact them see if they are willing to do both electrical and cabling at the same time.
  14. I have actually got a friend to photoshop my 床头照 to something more artistic. After that I went to a printing company to print on canvas material and them mount them on the canvas frame. The effect is quite good. got quite a number of praises from friends.
  15. Are those decals or wallpapers? I have pasted some decals on my walls, ordered from a different vendor. Their quality and ease of application is quite good. PM me if you want their contact
  16. Hi. How do you know if the capacitor is wrong? It is rather risky to tamper with it or change it to one with a different rating. Anyway, the shops Sim Lim Tower carry a range of electronic components
  17. Hi, anyone done this before? how is the maintenance like? Thx
  18. haha.. was wondering will HDB do the concealment if you approach them ornot, since it is OK for them to do the concealment but not by ourselves
  19. Mine is wires concealed in real walls. assuming I want to go ahead and conceal the wiring, what do I need to do? what do I need also?
  20. My HDB unit is those that comes with concealed wiring. I would like to relocate some tel points in the house, as well as to add some ethernet points. Any one has DIY on hacking into the wall and concealing the wires? What is the complexity of the job? will a simple hammer drill be able to do the job? Can I just slot the wire into the wall and plaster it.. or do I need to house the wires in those PVC pipes etc? Thanks in advanced
  21. yup. you need to drill into the wall using a hammer drill. Then slot in the wall plug into the wall. After that you can screw into the wall plug and attach your table
  22. did some painting a year back and I used the light & space series. Cost-wise is abt the same as their other paints. the walls did look brighter, at least that is what I felt.
  23. my oven used to have this problem. because of this, my oven became a white elephant. One solution is to get an electrician to look at it. It is possible your oven has overloaded the current circuit. Like someone here mentioned, the oven heeds to be fitted to a 15A power source we previously thot the trip is due to moisture. we end up buying a dehumidifier and putting it in the oven. it did not work for my case
