  1. congratulations Sam!! very nicely done!!
  2. hi everyone, just a brief note, no worries about the bulk/weight coz airlines in the US count per no of bags, not per kg!
  3. hi everyone, just found out i may have to be in the US soon.... if you want I can just pop into a target/kmart/outlet store and get it for you guys! but cannot promise when...
  4. sometimes what we don't realize is not everyone is cut out for child/elderly care... if it was, then any of us can be a teacher/nurse... we're all different human beings and have different interests/passions... the problem sometimes is some employers expect their maids to be perfect in everything, and to do things exactly the way they want it. i think it really boils down to picking the right one for the right job... there will never be anyone who will excel at all jobs, so my mantra is if she's good at 8 out of the 10 things i need her to do... ok liao. Of course there are those who are really bad (lie/steal/harm the family/lazy!!) all sorts lah, sometimes finding a good one is like winning toto !! luckily mie has been with me for 3 years liao... and says she will stay on after taht too!
  5. I used Styline for my bamboo decking in my balcony/planter, you can look at my blog for the pictures.
  6. wish the government would relax the rules against helpers working in more than 1 household. while I understand it was implemented to prevent employers asking the maid to clean more than 1 house blah blah blah, for people like me, who have a helper at home, just looking after 2 of us adults, who both travel a lot, she spends so much time reading the paper/pocketbooks after doing her chores (must say my helper is very good though...) i t just seems to make sense to send her somewhere else to work when I'm at work/overseas! Especially when we travel, she's alone at home doing nothing.... but due to the gov't restriction, am afraid to send her to friends' place to help them clean/iron once a week... my friends all say my helper has the best life amongst all of us.... very free! and yes, i realize I don't need a maid but the last thing I wanna do after back to back biz trips lasting 10 days each is do the laundry!!!
  7. hmmm good idea.. i'll be the manager... will deffo find good gigs, they may be in timbuktu, mind your zoo, ermmm home is coming together really beautifully! can't wait to see the finished product

  12. my 2 year old nephew loves that song!! would volunteer for the band but tone deaf people are probably not wanted back on topic, when will the King Koil sale finish? Been out of town so didn't even know about it until I read GG's blog! need 2 extra pillows for the guest room....

  14. heee sammie, after a while they will give up! last week when we were in europe i was trying on a pair of black flats.. he said "you have more than 3 pairs of shoes that look like that" I just looked at him and smiled pity no size coz it was 70% off!
  15. hmmm think that's a good idea. I used to use someone in Geylang but I think she's closed down now. My colleague recommends this place in Bukit Merah, near the Alexandra village, she said very reasonable.
  16. comes with age lah... think would be one of the oldest in this forum... most are newly weds, still surrounded in the glow of marriage.. for old birds like me.... don't take s**t from the men liao! haha for me was easy, i packed the stuff, so when unpacking, i took out my stuff first. the wardrobe in the MBR was very small, could only fit my stuff, so i told him to use the wardrobe in the 2nd bedroom instead .... no choice to argue coz all my stuff were properly hung up already hehe evil right? you all so good count the number of shoes you have! i never did (or as bf tells me, " afraid to find out how many you really have!")
  17. Sam if I'm mistaken I saw on HGTV you have to put ice on the glue to come off, not heat, coz heat will just melt the glue and make it harder to take off. how big is your frame? can buy those ready made ones from ikea?
