I have refrained from posting in this thread for a while, since we are having major issues with the Reno. No resolution from CLC yet, will post a critique of them once we are finally finished. -
New new, yeah, couldn't figure out where to put it so thought we'd just go back for it! Pity you bought the last one!
-
i almost bought that in hock siong!!
-
really inspiring reno! congratulations. BTW, where did you get the recycled wood? We want to clad one beam in our house with wood and I would like to use recycled wood if possible, thanks!
-
if it's small stuff my patio would work, but where can we store the equipment after?? (I will be staying in a corner terrace)
-
Hi!! If you find them can you let me know?? I think these may have to be custom made but I'm cracking my head what's an unusual thing to use, thought of hanging hula hoops

Interior Design Magazines
patsy_sg replied to dolphinz's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Will need to get rid of the 30+ magazines I have (local and imported, some are European and others from the rest of Asia) by Weds. Anyone who wants them please call nine two three nine, zero three six seven. -
HI Archenemy, had the Zwilling set for a long time, it was one of those sets that come with the wooden block with 5 knives and a straightener. I found the WMF carving knife very solid, coz it's whole piece instead of those with wooden handles, easier to carve meat. The bread knife i like coz it looks nice

hi flowerie123, yeah, our first quote could have bought us a 3 rm HDB plant. It was based more on a rebuild rather than just reno, which we didn't want. The guy didn't listen to our wants and put together a quote according to what he thinks we should do! Marcus is quite good with design ideas, practical but with good aesthetics also. We are very involved in the design process and have very clear ideas of what we want and don't want, so I guess didn't really need a lot of Leslie's input. Leslie was recommending a modern resort theme but I didn't want our home to look like a resort in Bali. I want something that captures our personality. Not keen on the show flat look, prefer a lived in look. Opennet? I just called again and again and again (take note of the person you spoke to first and note down her name)and finally asked to speak to a manager, not the regular customer service person and explained my situation firmly. He understood and got their subcon to come and relocate the point for me. Still have to pay the $450 but better than having to hack the kitchen cabinets in the future, right? -

all done! Starhub and Mio will be installed next week. Opennet coming to install on the 27th (managed to get them to come earlier than Oct!) sometimes I pity Marcus so I call Jeremy instead, think they both cringe when they see my number on their phones. BTW, didn't know you hit the greens too... shall we arrange for a round one day? Give me some time to practice first, haven't played in 5 years, though I used to play off a 12 handicap. -
I have been using my Zwelling knives for 11 years now, still good as new, and I'm a heavy user too. Sharpen myself with the whetstone. May consider bringing them to that link posted by Ngunadi soon. I do like my WMF bread knife and carving knife (great for turkey and ham over Christmas!)

Been reading this thread cause we also engaged CLC (on the recommendation of JCase!!) but haven't posted cause I didn't have an idea on their workmanship in the beginning, but now that we're about 50% done, I can make some comments already. So far, very happy with them, on the ball and very responsive (although I think Marcus is starting to dread my phone calls). I really like Marcus because he's not afraid to tell me my ideas are not workable/practical/good, and also cause he often tells me a more cost efficient way of doing things. They're renovating my corner terrace, started June 22nd, and they should be finished by end July. I really rushed Marcus and Jeremy to finish at least 2 floors so we can move in next week, so far on schedule. If I had any complaints would only be that Leslie just met us once, but it didn't really bother me because we have an idea on how the house wanted to look like anyway and in fact, came up with most of the ideas ourselves. He did help a lot with space planning, cause I wanted a really really big dry kitchen and plenty of counter space and we couldn't figure out how to put an island cause there was a big huge beam in the middle of the place. Will post pics in my blog when we're finally finished. I keep forgetting to take in progress pictures. -
quite rush is relative, depends on what you are in England for, where in England you will be based (i.e. London? accessible to major airports?) if you've been there before, and what you want to do when you get to France/Italy. Say you are there for work in London, finish up at 5 pm on the Friday, you can take the train from Waterloo station into Paris (check schedules though, haven't done this in a while). If you're not in London, there are loads of cheap flights (Ryanair, BMI baby etc) you can take but not sure if they fly from an airport nearby where you are and into an airport in the city you would like to go to. If you've not been in England before, there are loads of interesting (again that's relative) places to go there, footy fan? The National Gallery, Royal V&A museums in London would occupy your whole weekend if you're the arty type. British Museum too. PM me if you want to discuss further!

haha ok ok, am supposed to go down tomorrow and will try to remember to take pics!
-
i will definitely be up for this!!!!! DIY lots of stuff for our new place now. Am tempted to buy a work bench and table saw.... but not sure where to store them!
-
Yeah, definitely good! Was in Europe on holidays last July and the sales were really good!! BTW, this is what we hope to achieve for the work desk using a door Study table The hole where the handle used to be will be to run cables up and down. Hope it turns out well.
-
newnew.... haha looks can be deceiving! you should have seen us all grimey and dusty today from the stripping and sanding! We've kept 2 of the original wooden doors from the house and are doing them up to be shelves and table for the attic office! insane, Harrods and Selfridges have them. If you're going to Spain/France/Italy, they can be cheaper there too due to the Euro conversion..... the capsules are much cheaper too!
-
Went to Hock Siong cause I saw they had Artemide Tolomeo ceiling lights for sale, got 2 for $400 for the attic bedrooms..... happy!! Also got a solid teak clothes butler from Journey East yesterday.... seems like buying a lot of stuff these days!
-
Hope you have a smooth reno! BTW, just curious, who is your ID?? You may have mentioned it in the previous posts. Just curious coz you never know, I may move again in a few years time
-
Hey gf, keep forgetting to take! We're DIY'ing some stuff at the new place so always end up so tired after all the stripping and sanding we forget to take! Will try to do some tomorrow!
-
Much cheaper!
