  5. Hi Applefreak, My ID quote me for the rewiring for the whole place for about $6000. Personally, i feel that that the electrician is out to kill... Can you please help me to see if they overcharge? $24/Lighting Point $60/13amp double power point $45/13amp single power point and he also advise me to change the DB & MCB, is it really necessary? becos i heard from my HDB Technical Officer that there is no need to change that, but some mercenary electrician often suggest home owner to change it to make money...
  6. HI Angel81, Throw lights are fluorescent tubes hidden in the false ceiling to give out cove lightings that would reflect on the ceilings then to the ground. this is an example of cove light Cove Lightings Examples Getting a good idea, which i feel that they contribute more as a person who is able to give you a better suggestion on space planning. Juz my one cent worth... my ID manage to convince us to hack away the kitchen wallls and plan out a kitchen island right thru the living area which i feel that it was really a good idea that we and my wife would not be able to think of
  7. Maybe you can show us the pics?
  8. Hi Hanni06, The conclusion we have was to save up by doing curtains for the hall & MBR, as for the other rooms, we will juz lay the tracks and do it when we saved up a bit more. Bo bian... reno budget way out of initial budget by 25k...
  9. Bamboo... We have been using it for 10 over yrs.... still as reliable...

  11. My contractor brings us to Surface @ Defu Lane, they have really nice tiles there... but the only prob was... most of those nice tiles are out of stock... Not really happy with it, but fortunately the salesperson there was really very patient and helpful. Overally we still managed to choose our kitchen & bathroom tiles over there.
  12. I saw everybody curtains, they are so nice... but i wonder if i would still haf any additional budget for these... =(
  13. OMG... i was quoted $4000 for the living, dining, kitchen & 4 bedrooms. is it too much also?
  14. Hi Seaview, From your pic, i see that your shower screen is next to your toilet bowl. My ID informed me that my shower screen is very closed to my toilet bowl and the leg room would be very limited. Do you also have such problem? btw, your common bathroom feature wall looks great!
  15. My wife place is half tiles & half plastering... so far so good... as far as 30yrs... Most impt is the workmanship... i think
  16. Hi Angel81, I am using L-Box for all my bedrooms with throw lights, according to my ID, he mentioned that it is bright enuf. But also depending on your bedroom size and your lighting tolerance. Do a quick check with your ID, see what they says?
  17. Heh... Thanks Yokine9a. That's the kind of confirmation that i need. Thanks Raincole, Yes, i also understand that sliding one are harder to maintain becos of all the grooves. But my M-in-Law, also mentioned that if use cascade one is difficult to hang clothes outside, as ours are those "slim" 3 windows kind... So kinda stuck in dilemma... whether to ask for compensation or get them to replace it as stipulated in contract.
  18. Dear all, My service balcony was supposed to be installed with a cascading windows, but my ID installed the sliding one , so could anyone advise me which is better and which one is more costlier? So i could get a refund from them... Thank you so much...
  19. Wow! 8 Yrs Warrenty... I doubt my ID would provide me with such assurance.
  20. i tot that was pretty reasonable? I have the same thing, but i use a tempered glass door & 4ft vanity top, but i hacked the tiles instead of overlay. And it cost me about 5k.
  21. the most expensive part of renovating is to redo the toilets and kitchen.
  22. I told all my friends and any one that i have known not to try out this CH** Interiors... Last mth after getting out keys to our love nest, we decided to pay Ch** Interiors a visit after their consistent advertising. And that was something that i regret the most throughout the ID sourcing exercise. We walk to the showroom(Changi) entrance, and we were not even acknowledge, until i have to ASK! And a lao uncle walk slowly and first thing he says is.... Lao Uncle: "Yes" (smugly) Me: We want to renovate our place. Lao Uncle: "Over here" *He just point to a direction without leading us, then we just walk towards the direction that he is pointing...which happens to be a toilet showroom! After that we just stand there and wait. Lao Uncle: "Sit" Then me and my wife, at this point of time abit TL already, then just sit opp him on a bench. Lao Uncle: "You bring floorplan???" Me: "Yes" Then i just pass him the floorplan. HE start to look at the floor plan and seem like in a world of his own, then i tot that maybe he is thinking on how to design my place. It was so unexpectedly....he said: Lao Uncle: "So what you want?" For a moment, i was stunt... really stunt... then i keep quiet... My Wife: "We want to renovate the place, can you give us some idea?" Lao Uncle: "What you need?" My Wife: "We want to renovate our living area...." Lao Uncle: "Then?" (irritably) My Wife: "And also master bedroom ........... Lao Uncle: "Then?" (irritably) My Wife: "and redo the kitchen & 2 toilets." Lao Uncle: "LIke Tat?" (Sarcastically) *** @ this point, i was really TL liao... very very TL, what did i do to deserve this kind of attitude. I took my floor plan and hold my wife and we walk out of the **** place without looking back ever since ***
