  1. i believe the 18/10 will naturally be more expensive. just went ikea tampines yesterday to check out their Grundtal series. apparently i read a previous posting by applefreak (see, i did my homework! ) that she has gotten some of the grundtal products - 18/8, n im surprised by their pricing. though its 18/8, which is comparable to maybe other stainless steel products from places like Son* Cho or Hoe Ke*, it's so much cheaper! though it may not look as sleek, every cent counts when doing reno, which is costing so much nowadays however, it seems like grundtal series do not have many variety of offerings for the kitchen. btw, keltong, poh jo* is at 159 jalan berseh, diagonally opp j.berseh hawker centre. they hv another showroom at 389/391 jalan berseh. they have pull-out baskets in different carcase widths - 400mm, 450mm, 500, 600, 800 & 900! quoted me $70 a pull-out for 450mm carcase. with their 5yrs warranty againt rust, im thinking if it's a good deal cos i thought stainless steel should somewhat guaranteed against rust for the lifetime? - think song ch* or day & day products have lifetime no-rust warranty but they cost a bomb
  2. Hi, would like to find out if anyone has bought stainless steel pull-out basket (for kitchen cabinet) from Po* Jo* in j.berseh? they gave me a rather attractive quotation: Carcase 450mm, basket size (WxDxH): 355mm x 475mm x 140mm - $70 each the sales lady told me the stainless steel is grade 304. as im not sure about such grading, i asked her if it's 18/8 etc, she said yes(?). also, there's a 5yr warranty against rust. so i would like to clarify if anyone knows the so-called grade 304 is indeed 18/8?
  3. oh, im really ignorant of DB dos and don'ts.. does it mean it'll get 'heated up'? why do i need to ensure it has ventilation?
  4. what material did you choose for your panel? do you mind sharing how much you paid for it? so the absence of bottom track does not affect the sturdiness ya? sorry for asking so many questions. My contractor is supposed to provide us with a bi-fold door, as per the quotation. but im more keen on pd door - seems really good. so now doing the cost comparison and how durable both are.
  5. yes, i feel the same way too. am renovating my condo now, small unit at about 900sqft. but when i showed my quotation to friends to who have renovated last year or the year before, they did commend that some of the breakdowns are abit steeper than theirs. but am consoling myself that we have to take into account the fact that cost for most things are going up north now, everything from cement to copper cost etc are increasing.
  6. yes yes, pls share your experience after u've been there! Understood that the pd door consultant can actually do a free site visit to better access our needs/requirements. but as im currently renovating my plc, it certainly won't be convenient as the entire place is like a war zone. n also, think u can see more samples at their showroom from their website, it seems like they hv many types of materials avail for the panel portion. m also looking for glass as my plc is very small, so need to create the 'illusion' of space pd door users, pls share with us your experience! bi-fold users, pls also share with us your experience on bi-folds! or any brands of bi-folds that are good
  7. have been using aluminium for last 3-5 years. will prefer it to bamboo as it's lighter and also retractable - makes for easy storage when u dun need them. however, i ever had one of them getting 'warped/bent' at the centre portion as we pulled that particular pole to the max and hung too heavy load on the centre portion (too much laundry that time, been lazy, so was our fault) all in all, i'll still choose alum - works well if used sensibly, not to mention that it looks better too!
  8. Oh goodie! I was about to post on bi-fold doors (and also ask for users of PD doors for their experience). Im originally looking for a bi-fold door for my kitchen. However, after reading up on bifolds in this forum, I came across PD doors which seem to be really good - top track only, so the absence of bottom track will not cause dirt to get trapped and also minimise tripping incidents etc. http://www.pddoor.com so i'll like to find out from people who have used PD doors for their experience as I've also came across comments that the absence of bottom track will cause the door to be less 'sturdy/durable'. chubbyman, apparently pd doors can be swung to 180degree so it can somewhat meet your needs for the open concept look. pd door owners, pls share your experience!
  9. yup, tink only solution is to build a fake cabinet to house it. too bad it's so big
  10. as can u can see from the picture, it's really BIG and ugly. didn't manage to get the dimensions as there was a huge pile of sand at that corner when i was there, but the DB's height looks at least a good 30cm. yup, was thinking of building some cabinet to hide it. but can't be shoe cabinet cause we are already making a shoe cabinet to put infront of the door's entrance (fengshui, to block the 'qi' from flowing too fast ). the wall that's perpendicular to the wall where the DB and intercom r will be where the dining table is leaning against. We making full height mirror and painting the 2 sides of that wall with black textured paint (dining table will be black glass with stainless steel legs). so m thinking of how the cabinet for the DB will look like to blend in with the rest of the look and i can't ask my 'ex' ID for ideas too.. so flashed my SOS signal here, in case some1 has faced the same problem b4
  11. OH ****! i had a similar experience! did u get your bed from a shop in IMM?! i ordered 2 bedframes in feb 08. As they do not hv the actual bed in their showroom, i ordered based on a picture of the bed which actually has boxy indentations (and paid deposit). The next day, the boss called me, said the factory in Australia no longer produce the PU leather covers with the boxy indentations, it will be plain. Then gave all kinds of excuses say the indentations will be prone to wear & tear. So, i said alright then and again, he gave me 3 choices of leg stand height - 2, 4 or 6 inches. Told him I'll go for 4 inches. Later, he called again and said the leg stands are fixed at 5-6inches!! N he pacified me to accept blah blah blah... later on (1-2 weeks ltr), I realised there was a miscalculation and the beds are slightly too big for my new home and called the boss asking if i can change to another bed size. and guess what??? VERY curtly, he said he's not able to help me and I hv to find my own alternative!! i was so furious!! when he called me to accept those 'compromises', i agreed, but now???? so now im trying to find a buyer for 1 of the beds (the other one can still fit into the room but will be cramp)
  12. OMG.. tt contractor is so cuckoo! think will be quite impossible for them to patch up close to the other tiles right? u must make them do something to make up for it! somemore new place very heart pain my contractor will be putting up my shower stuff tml/fri. I better remind them!!
  13. Just got a call from my contractor to let him know how I would like to 'conceal/hide' the DB which is located just near where we are going to have our dining table (it's a really ugly box and very visible). It will be costly to change its location hence we'll not be doing so. Is really urgent cause we had a fall-out with our ID who caused our reno to be delayed for 1.5mths amongst other problems! So we paid him for the drawings and from here onwards we'll be undertaking the whole reno project on our own since we are scrapped for time. Is really stressful! Pls share if your have similar experience!
  14. Lush's okie.. juz went last weekend to get my sofa + carpet + dining chairs cos 20% off. sofa's not those designer reproduction, cos those are usually not cmfy - low backrest, can't have that 'sink-in' feeling. the service is quite good!
