Jurong West St 64 Residents - (july 07 Ballot)
rumi replied to piggiedearz's topic in District 16, 17,18, 19
I want to retile the kitchen and mbr wc.. depending on the cost. I heard doing each WC cost abt $2K+ not sure if near to $3K including new toilet bowl, basin, vanity cabinet, shower screens. Anyway to advise? -
I think could be due to last time our parents and grandparents time use a hose of water to flood the kitchen floor when washing the kitchen. Like those hawkers do in hawker centres. But nowadays I think a wet mop will do.

I have not bought my fridge since I have not started my reno yet. I guess I will not build a base as most fridges come with a rollers behind that can easily push out. With a base, it is very almost impossible to push fridge out yourself to clean the underneath and behind.

But I recall that it is free parking on Sundays at the MSCP near Jurong Pt and also for ALL (about 2 to 3) multi storey car parks beside West mall at Bukit Batok is also free. I don't understand why a temple beside our block equates to car park not being free on sundays. Talk about promoting family gathering etc?!! I have to complain. They should resolve their temple car park problem at their own premises instead of eating into our MSCP space! As long as there are season parking lots marked red, these people can't park at our allocated lots. Whatever that are white lots are subject to First come first serve. Unless u all are telling me every weekend, the temple got a lot of activities that commands all our car park space? Then win liao. -

hehe.. finally.. after much chasing to LTA and LTA to HDB.. and finally HDB replied me on the proposal and finally they are doing. I think I sent the request back in May or what...but will only fully enjoy the benefit once I move in Dec. I thought some forumer also mentioned about a shelter walkway from 678D block to the bus stop outside? Don't see that being done yet. Anyone feedback about making the entrance of our block more prominent? Like erect a sign board to indicate entrance is to which blk no? I notice ours block numbers are in the centre facing the other HDB, oncoming cars cannot see.. surely miss the entrance & got to go one big round. Since the road at st 64 is under HDB territory, I think erecting the sign should ask HDB? Which kind soul want to take up the task? Haha -

Lunar 7th month coming soon. U all monitor the carpark then take photos and send to HDB lor, request for first few floors for season parking. To my knowledge, they will only mark them red if it has shown that many 'outsiders' come back at the car park. I don't think is Town Council territory.... -

Panasonic inverter model saves more energy.. so ongoing cost is supposed to be lower, saving cost in the long run. I am eyeing Panasonic NR-B403V-S6 .

Even with a base. the fridge don't sit totally flat on the base. there is still a space underneath that things & dirt/dust will get into it. I mean i see most fridges come with 4 mini legs/rollers.

hihi, anyone hacked ur bedroom wall and then erect up antoher wall to maek the MBR room bigger and the another room smaller? How much is the hacking and replacement of parquet at that portion? -
hi yc_mw, how much is the lock from adel? Any website to see the models & contact information? samsung one very ex. the one we are eyeing is more than $1K
-
yc_mw which vendor/brand are u looking at? I am eyeing the samsung one.. We intend to buy and get them to install and just close the main gate without locking with key or padlock. the main door lock should suffice.

What's wrong with biometric? Why prefer RFID to Biometric? RFID is just another type of 'key' that you have to remember to bring along with you when you go out and if you lose it, got to pay to replace.

Hey neighbours, finally an update! HDB will be implementing the the proposed traffic scheme at Jurong West St 64 soon, starting in about 1-2 weeks' time. 1. Centre opening with spring loaded post on both side (7m) for exit from estate. 2. U-turn sign with suppplementary plate 'Vehicles not exceeding 2500kg" 3. Modification to traffic island to faciliate U-turn movement at junction near the slip road at JW ave 4. (to enable entrance to estate coming from JP) -
At first when I asked my mother why she needs a fridge base. she said is for washing the kitchen floor. After I questioned her further on not being able to clean the top of the base where u place the fridge. collect dust as well and also did she use a hose to flood the kitchen for washing... she agreed that yah. is not necessary to build a fridge base as u will likely to just mop on the floor. Also mum did not cater to a washer before renovation and it was years later before we bought a washer.. the current waasher is placed on the floor without a base & my mum don't find it a problem mopping the floor. Actually i just want to find out how others are doing it. I asked ID and they say is for washing lor. haha also feel a bit monkey see money do. At least if i don't do base for fridge and washer.... i can save some money...
-
hihi.. is there a different base for washer and fridge if my idea is to place them side by side..with my cabinets is like kitchen cabinet base then fridge then washer. they are placed side by sided.. so i thought can just build continuous base.I don't have a yard area.. small kitchen everything got to squeeze in kitchen. If I don't want a base for washer and fridge. it will just a a base for kitchen cabinet then baseless fridge then baseless washer.

My neighbour recently opens the staircase landing door and stops it from closing with a rubber stopper!!!! My block has few units/level & this staircase is diagonally opposite my unit! I have not moved in yet so i do not know if is is OK for me to ask them to stop doing that? There is a purpose in HDB to build the door at the staircase landing. i think is more to fire proof the door during fire so that pple can escape via the staircase...Also i think opening the door makes my house more exposed & vunerable to outsiders? Should I talk to the en bloc neighbours or directly complain to the town council? -
Hi, I have not started my renovation, but would like to know how many of you DID NOT build a base for the washer and fridge? As i think washer and fridge base is usually in the default package or must haves in the kitchen cabinet reno uness u are doing a suspended kitchen cabinet. For those who did and did not have a base for fridge and washer, could you advise why u did or did not build it? understand some pple say is to make washing of kitchen floor easier and not touch the applicance or make it wet. but unless u are using a hose.. basic mopping won't actually wet them right?

Yes, they are not very nice, but at least they are new though with some limited usage by HDB & your own contractors , & not a resale unit's WCs! Unless u want to pay about $3~4K/WC x 2 = ~$8K to relay new floor & wall tiles + buy 2 new shower screens since after relaying is no longer usable. I find it not worth it. I will just quickly shower, save water and get out. Close the WC @ all other times. -
Hanging wet towel inside the WC is out as I feel is a very condusive place to breed moulds and bacteria, especially after each flush! Besides hanging wet towels behind the bedroom doors, which I am doing now at my mother's house, and find that the wet towels could still be wet if the door has been opened and the wet towels are squashed behind the wall & do not have enough air flow ventilation to dry. Please share how you are drying your wet towels after a shower. Towel racks, towel stand? Any recommendations on where to get them?

Change wooden door to what for free? The door is actually good material versus flimsy bi-fold doors where the bi-fold door may squash my fingers + the hinge will give way very soon and u will not be able to lock or close the door properly. I recall having to tug many times at the bi-fold door at my aunt's place & I really hate it. + it doesn't give me a sense of security , not sure really lock or not.. what if pple from outside suddenly open the flimy bi-fold door. The problem with the current wooden door at our estate is that the door entrance location & where the door swing opens is not very eronomic...So i guess is a design issue. Guess is a matter of use to it. after all how many times visitors come ur place.. only u and hubby and children if any..... Why the sudden increase in the no. of bicycles in whole of singapore HDB estates. I don't see them prominently in the last 5 yrs.... or so..... Influx of migrants? I thought the home shelter can store the bicycles? Guess is a younger generation vs older generation home dwellers mentality lor. Younger generatoin don't like to clutter the common area leading to their home, whereas older generation love to have many stuff clutter along the common area as much as possible to dominate more territory like kampong and keep their own house clutter free...
