  1. Hi Kris... I still do not have time to do it.. Busy painting and buying stuff for my bedroom as need to complete on 31 Jul... as Hungry ghost festival starts on 1 Aug. Anyway, I did a search in sg ebay as mentioned by Mace and I found a vintage phone expert in sg.. He has hundreds of phones from 1900s till now.. and he can repair, service or change overseas / vintage wiring cord for sg usage.... Yes, even a real vintage 1940s or 1950s can be modified for current usage... I have contacted him and he only charge $20 for changing my russian phone cord for local usage. I think I will let the expert to do it instead.. Maybe will ask him dismantle and clean up the phone too... Anyway.. anyone looking for a vintage rotary phone like mine can look for him too... He has those Telecom rotary phone in the 80s... PM me for contact if interested.. Cheers!!!
  2. Met up with the designer of closetrobe last Thursday.. original meetup time was 6pm, but he called n said will be late n be at my home at 9pm.. turned up at 10pm instead... Anyway... Luckily my mood was good and was not pissed off.. so he went in to take measurement, and discussed with him on what me and my wife want... he came out the design and we finalized with him.. total cost is $2220 for 6.5ft wardrobe.. which include $180 for dismantling my old cabinet... The worker will come and dismantle my old wardrobe this wed on 23 Jul... then wardrobe installation will be on 28 Jul... will let u guys know the workmanship next wk.

    Diy Mosiac

I just got my mosiac from Hafary last saturday... I wanna put it on my shoe cabinet top whereby the surface is spoilt... but found out that the colours I have chosen does not match to the area around... Gonna go and buy another set of mosiac again... In the mean time, I am gonna use the current mosiac on my other project... Can't wait to start it and post in this forum... But I need to finish doing up my bedroom first... Rushing to finish it on 31 Jul.. cos 1 Aug is the "Opening of h.e.l.l Gates" liao...
  4. Hi all.. I jus bought an vintage rotary dial phone from Russia... love it a lot.. and it cost ~S$70 after shipping.. There's even a CCCP logo in the front But then the phone line plug is different.. I dismantle their plug and there's 2 wiring there, which I think can link it to our local plug and use it.. I have yet to try... hopefully it will work.. else I will just put it in living room for show
  5. Nice posters you got there... u and your wife are movie / anime lovers? I have quite a number of original double-sided movie posters... but i will only put it in my study room...
  6. I painted velvet dream for my living / dining room.... actually not everything in velvet dream... I love this colour too... very nice!!! Anyway.. I painted my living / dining room in 4 colours.... My bedroom with my wife will be in purple tones too.... Think I will start my T-Blog soon too...
  7. Hi... I saw you having a very small TV console mounted on the wall of your MBR... Is that custom made? Or did you buy it from somewhere? I have asked the guy who is making my wardrobe to custom-make a small console of 161cm (length) x 40cm (height) x 33cm (width), with rounded corners instead of 90 degree angle.. and that gonna cost me $700++.... After that I just told me to make the wardrobe first... cos the small console is so ex....
  8. Here's the websites if you are interested... ignore the space that I have typed below.. this forum does not allow people to post website addresses here.. I wonder why... http://www . closetdesign . com . sg/index.htm http://www . closetrobe . com . sg/ http://www . sengkwong . com . sg/aboutus.htm
  9. I went to Seng Kwong and Closetrobe recently.... I engaged Closetrobe to do the wardrobe in the end.... Here are the rough quotation provided by the 2 companies: Seng Kwong: - 6.5ft full height wardrobe = $1960 - can only have 2 close door drawers, need to pay more if want more - can choose any colous for your sliding doors - add pull-out mirror = $150 - dismantle my old 6.5ft wardrobe = $200 Closetrobe: - Standard 5ft full height wardrobe = $1500, additional 1ft = $200. Thus, 6.5ft = $1800 - You can have any combination you want in the wardrobe... no extra charges for additional close door drawers - Price is only for standard sliding doors, think have few colours to choose from. If want to have any differences.. need to pay extra $80 for a pair of doors (which I think is reasonable) - Add pull-out mirror = $160 - dismantle my old 6.5ft wardrobe = $180 By the way, the design consultant at Closetrobe is more friendly and helpful.... very good service. I have paid $500 deposit already... The design consultant will come to my place this Thursday to take measurement, after that will make a remaining 50% payment i think.. can't remember.. then after the whole wardrobe is done.. pay the remaining amount... The design consultant said they provide 10 yrs warranty... whereas normal place only provide 1yr warranty....
  10. Your house layout is exactly same as where I used to stay last time at Tampines st.84... My father got it at $90k last time and Tampines was so ulu at that time... there's nothing except a bus interchange there... But I love the east... gonna move back east in couple of yrs time... :")

  16. Hi all.. I juz got 11 downlights yesterday with 13W bulb and with australian ballast (having a kangaroo logo and said "made in australia"). I installed 4 of the lights last night... However, it kept flickering for a few times before the light is on. Could it be the ballast not able to support the 13W bulb? However, the guy who served me said that the ballast could support till 13W.. if it is 18W bulb, it will keep flickering.... Can anyone help me in this? Thank u. PS: By the way, I got the whole set of downlight at $11 each, total $121 for 11 pieces. The bulb is not philip or osram.. some other brand which I couldn't remember but it is in blue box.

  22. Wow... Mrs Quek called me up about 10min ago and she asked if I manage to set the date and time with Ah Keong, then I told her no and he didn't even wanna call me back... then she settled for me immediately... confirmed the date n time for me to meet up with Ah Keong tomorrow... Hopefully they can do the minor stuff for me soon... it's something that cost me max $1k... I will be grateful if they are willing to do for me...
  23. Hi all... I always find Ho Bee very slow in responding.. They gave me a quotation after a reminder (took few days later), replied them through email and wanna make some changes, they kinda bochap till I called them again (took another few days)... then asked them some questions and they only replied few days later after I called and reminded them again, then Mrs Quek said Ah Keong need to view my house again to see how long they need... asked me to call Ah Keong personally to set a date... Called Ah Keong this morning.. sounded bochap as usual n said will call me back in the evening.. I know for sure he'll not call me.. and I am right.... I need to call Mrs Quek tomorrow morning to remind her again... I am wondering if you guys face this kind of difficulties too? It has been dragging me for 2 weeks already and nothing is confirm yet... I am juz doing a very minor carpentry work on my current home.... maybe they are not keen to do it cos it is too simple work and they can't earn much for them... Do you guys have any other reliable carpenters to intro me? Do PM me.. Thanks a lot!!
