My hubby & I signed up with them during the recent Living Showcase 2008 at the Expo. ClosetRobe, Seng Kwong & Closet Design seems to have very similar closet designs but different pricing. I think they got the materials from the same source bah. And I heard from the staff the bosses of these companies knew each other or worked together before.

I have this following quotation: To hack living room + 1 bedroom floor tiles - $700 To hack masterbedroom + 1 bedroom for laying laminate - $500 To hack kitchen floor tiles - $350 To hack kitch wall tiles - $550 To hack 2 toilets wall & floor tiles - $900 Supply labour to demolish existing store room & clear include 1 bedroom partition wall & erect 1 new hollow block wall c/w plaster finish - $780 Total damage costs - $3780 The contractor verbally said this is inclusive of cement screed and clearing of debris. (very noob here, do I need to pay for sand & cement separately?) Any advice how to negotiate for the hacking fees? Or is it considered reasonable for the work done? =O

$1.80 think it's too low? Try going to tiles company see see look look, usually the average ranges from $2.40 onwards. City Plaza & Tanjong Katong Complex got some contractors & IDs, you can try go there source for quotations too.

Was convinced by the ID to sign up kitchen package first with Unimax during their expo in March. $69pfr & homogeneous solid surface $90pfr. But their renovation quotation is far too expensive for us, so we decide to get other contractor or ID for our reno works. After asking around, market should be at the margin of $80-90pfr for kitchen cabinet and $70-$80 for solid surface. (after asking some contractors) Sometimes it's very tempting to sign up during these exhibitions for the perks and discounts the merchants claimed. We burnt more holes in our pockets last weekend during this Living Showcase 2008. Paid deposit for open/walk-in wardrobe (though we feel that's a good deal after comparing with others) and also a king-size storage bed frame, with customizable headboard(a whooping $1400, discounted from $1799 ). >_< But we haven't confirmed any contractor yet. Still sourcing for the best deal and someone we are comfortable with. Really appreciate if anyone can give some advice here.

Hi happywheel, I don't know whether he's good so I'm not sure about recommending yet. Anyway I searched all the forums but no comments about his company at all. Don't want to recommend now until I confirm his service is delivered as promised. However compared to other contractors he's quite easy to communicate with and we are quite comfortable with him. He's the only contractor who came to our place to discuss what we need him to quote; so i think that's one of the reasons why we shortlisting him. (find him more sincere in doing business) But still considering.. some of his items reasonable compared to the other quotations I have now but I find the hacking + laying of homo tiles more expensive than others, and the tiles price range he gives is quite low. >_< [total hacking $3000, laying of homo tiles for living + small bedrm $2550, think area covered less than 450sq ft cos our flat quite small] The above quotation excludes electrical works, kitchen cabinet and wardrobe.. so for $20k I'm not sure whether worth it mah? Another company I am considering is Lego House, which gives competitive rates compared to other IDs. They have good and bad comments also. *headache*
