  1. Missyling, u hv got mail..... Nex, well said about hving RESPECT . of course i m ok wif dat.... I m glad to share wif others. Isn't dat Y we r in tis forum..... Hey, we want to go visit too..... We welcome visits when our place is more done up, now nothing much to see. Copying design.... I will be very happy dat someone like my taste and want to copy but i doubt it lah, we didn't do much for tis place, only floor, cornice (I know L box/false ceiling is in vogue now, but we did'nt want to lower the already low ceiling), plumbing, kitchen cabinet, a/c and fans. No built-in wardrobe/feature walls/shelvings, etc. We decide against taking a reno loan and also we r waiting for our boy to b a little older b4 doing built-in stuff, cos he is at the terrible 2 stage and hes veri active... u guys will know in a few years time.....
  2. Hi Nex If u r interested to change doors, i saw ad in Sat's paper: Sentat Trading (S) Pte Ltd 801 Toa Payoh Lor 7 Wearnes Technology Bldg T: 63560880. Timber Door promo $198 (min 3 pcs) includes door, door stopper, stainless steel hinges and lever lockset.
  3. Hi Stry I was wondering wat happened... was even thinking dat u may hv given up especially wif those hdb pple. Cool designs.... especially your living area. Pretty avant garde deco too..... Can't wait for your updates wif more pics. Cheers
  4. Ahockz, jus a couple more dat i encountered are: HS door jammed up, cracked toilet windows, different tones of color tiles in kitchen and the latest is leaks in the kitchen down pipes (the fat big ones) thiink Nex meant me . Bring a roll of those paper masking tape and marker when u go opening ceremony. No, its not for the ceremony , its to mark the defects . Don't mark directly on the tiles/walls/doors,etc.
  5. No worry, our place quite windy, also house should be WAN WAN mah.... You've done a lot of ceiling works, must've cost a bomb... Dining room color look veri different leh, we chose linen and natural cane as the contrast colour. Your facing same as mine, where the tv area is the longer wall. A bit of a challange there.... for us, cos we didn't use id.....
  6. Mr & Mrs Goh....... a quote from Paris Hilton....HOT! Me using ICI too, may I know wat colours are your living area and is the dining area HAZELNUT? Also, me want to drop by and say HELLO too, whichever weekend u may be there..... Thx in advance.
  7. Its the original big fat pipe lah... hope its like wat u say about got water, got $$.... Hiya, welcome When u get your keys, check, double check and triple check your place ... as u may hv read wat happen to my place. Of course i hope dat you won't hv to go thru the same as me....
  8. Hi all, guess wat......... yes'day my renovator told me dat the connecting pipe to the down pipe in the kitchen is LEAKING!!!! I think tis house doesn't like us and doesn't want us Luckily tis was discovered b4 the kitchen cabinet is installed.... now hv to wait for hdb officer to rectify and hopefully its nothing major or my reno will be delayed again...
  9. Hello everyone who is interested in the FISHER and PAYKEL SALES, my hb mixed up the time , it should be 8.30 AM TO 5.30 PM. Btw, I know of pple who q overnight for tis sales bcos it is 50 to 70% off..... we wouldn't be camping overnight there, but my hb wil be there bright and early on the 1st day...
  10. Very nicely done up. Can see the difference in workmanship as compared to the lousy hdb's contractor. The vertical strip down is especially cool...
  11. Hiya Very nice tiles for your kitchen the pretty pattern is to enable better drainage. I guess it will be my turn next.....
  12. Hi Nex Do u hv a reno blog? Post some pics to share leh.... so I can poach some ideas.... : P
  13. We are bringing our Mit fridge over, but we r changing to a bigger washer and a dryer from the "WANT" list. After much research, we decide on F & P washer cos Asian top load washer quite high energy consumption. 6kg using 350W to 400W, front loader an astonishing 2000W... F & P using direct drive technology= save lots of energy, 200W for a 8.5kg, jus dat if motor breaks down wil cost more for parts, but they r giving 5 years warranty for motor . Currently we are doing 6 to 8 loads a week, so changing to a 8.5kg or 10 kg will lessen the no of wash. This happens when u have kid(s), we do 2 loads a week jus his clothes and beddings! F & P products lasts quite long too, got friends whose F &P fridge is 12+ years, washer 10+ yrs too. We r still deciding on gas dryer by Rinnai or F & P electric one, costs about the same but gas dryer only comes in 5 kg load...... We bought all our beddings during GSS last year, 60% to 70% off. I wil post any warehouse sales or good lobang dat I come to know in this thread.
  14. Hi guys Theres a Fisher & Paykel warehouse sales coming up in June, 19th to 21st. Address: 150 Ubi Ave 4, #02-00 Sunlight Building. 1pm to 6pm. Cheers
  15. Hi Felix Hows your reno coming along? Looking forward to more pics (especially your kitchen)
  16. Mayb u wanna consider changing your ss plummet to white laminate and wif lightings and your white counter top will brighten it up.... U hv lights under the top cabinets? The other alternative dat I can come up wif would be probably get the carpenter to fix translucent plastic panels for the wall cabinet pelmet. Then fix energy-saving light tubes or bulbs inside the pelmet to illuminate the kitchen at night when the main kitchen light is switched off. Not only will the illuminated panels produce a soothing and pretty lighting effect, there is also no need to turn on and off the main kitchen light whenever any family member enters the kitchen for a short while. Of course, I think tis will add on to your reno costs.
  17. My cents worth of advise is to get wat you NEED 1st, we make a list of stuff dat we need to function normally and a list of things we want to get . So dat everytime we save some $ on the things we need (from warehouse/clearance sales), we can get something we want too. Do accept whatever gifts you'll receive and maybe can trade them in this forum or sell them in yahoo/ebay... think Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
  18. Hi ranval9, Jus get it for yourself.... its your house too. My hb and I do hv some difference in deco preferences, but i give in to some of his and he did the same... kitchen and toilet are my territories I hv to give in on living and dining area .
  19. We change too. We r lucky to pick-up 3 relatively new solid doors from friends and such for free, but pay for transport to get them to our place, but sizes are off, so we manage to get someone to re-size, installed for $80 per door. We are going to paint them though (in renovation package), cost too much to sand and re-varnish them. Wah.... save alot leh... Furnishings can cost quite a sum, especially for couple like most of u in this forum dat are currently staying wif parents. We have some pieces and appliances and we still spent about 5k...
  20. Hi Goh Nice , now make me want to go change my round design to a square one...... Aiyoh, u make me bz leh.....
  21. Hi Lin & L3x As usual, impeccable taste , must be quite a lobang to the pocket.....
  22. Hi Nex, Thanks for the info. I think I wil get my renovator to go settle this. Hows reno coming along?
  23. Hi L3x Thanks, appreciate dat, can save some $$. I also nid the double socket for an extra point in the kitchen (too many electrical apppliance ) So if Nex don't nid them, can give me pls.
  24. Hi Lin & L3x Fab lights. ...lots of tots goes into them, the 2nd & study bedroom lights cover (side) colors as according to the room colors. For curtains.... Jus go wif your instinct and pick something dat u are comfortable wif, U guys hv taste (jus look at the lights!), trust yourself, don't let it bother u too much. The main function of the curtains is to gives privacy and of course complete the house, most of the time u are the one looking at them. Its like an art piece ....everyone has their own taste and value is subjective. Jus an example.... theres a friend who sew her own curtains and beddings using materials from Spotlight, neighbourhood fabric store and Ikea, but her house looks like its totally designer wares, cos the rest of the house are tastefully furnished. Where theres another friend who spend about 2k on her curtains alone (using all imported European material), but it looks odd in her house, cos it didn't fit into her modern bright white wif glass and black leather design. As for the price of fabric, ask for a small piece of sample of the ones u like and use dat to ask around. For imported items, it will state on the ends of fabric the brand, can check on dat too. Just my 2 cents worth.....
