  1. Totally agree It looks gd and dats about it. Unless u get raw silk which the raw material costs about $100 a meter and get someone to sew it and... can only dry clean. Its totally impractical in S'pore tropical climate to use silk/satin. Invest in some good combed cotton (about 500 thread count) or bamboo "silk" which is actually bamboo fibre, it looks and feel like silk. These are about $300 to $500 a complete set (fitted sheet, pillow cases, bloster case, quilt cover), available in Robinsons. From time to time u can get them @ up to 40% discounts during the annual sales. If u really like the silky sheen get them in jaquard which the weaves gives a more textured and luxurious look.
  2. Its the thick soft plushy top that is not giving proper support. I hv chronic backaches since my teenage time (I have a slight case of scolosis and also had a sports injury b4). When I got married, we decided to invest in a more luxurious high end mattress thats has state of art fantastic pocketed spring and a plush top. Its not the issue wif the mattress, its the soft plush dats sinks, which gives inadequate support. I almost ended up in hospital wif severe lower backaches, thinking dat I suffered a slip-disc or something. We gave the 3k mattress away and bought a $600 diamond mattress from Seahorse, which is super firm and even my husband is surprised that it helps wif his stiff shoulder. The pillow also plays a important role.... the height and firmness of the pillow will also affect your sleep posture.... causing stiff shoulders/neck leading to backaches. If your previous mattress is very different from your current one, your body do need some time to get use to it... Anyway, if its affecting yourself and your wife, it is better to get another one. Backaches don't jus go away, it could escalate and affect your daily life, especially if you hardly ever hv them b4. Jus my 2 cents worth...
  3. I think Stry's dad means make two wardrobe back to back bah.... I had been to a friend's place where their 2 childrens' wardrobe is between the 2 rooms, more like a walk-in and shared between the 2 kids, each can access the wardrobe thru a door in their own room.
  4. Lovely toilet tiles.... more pics please....
  5. Very well designed MBR , especially for such a small space... Can't wait for your place to be completed..... so I can come and steal some ideas for my 2nd reno in 3 yrs time...
  6. When taking measurements, remember to measure height of the position of lockset, it could affect alterations. As for the frames, bcos i didn't want to spend on it, i just painted the door instead. Most probably nid alterations, if u nid, i know of a gd contact...
  7. Hi Lin & L3x, Welcome back..... Can I drop by this sat/sun to collect the switches. My renovator jus put in the regular type with the button looking switch... Thanks in advance. wondering wat happen to everyone.... no updates on t-blog... my guess: everyone bz wif wedding preps and moving in??? I finally moved it on Wednesday. My place now looks like warehouse wif boxes and tons of junk collected over the years.... Nex, i m hving problem wif the heater cutting off whenever I switch from tap to shower, also when i turn the mixer to a lower temp..... did u test yours out? They are coming tis sat to check it... sianz... hope its not the plumbling problem.... Felix, sorry about the terrible mess when u & mrs visit... Thx for dropping by. Btw, starhub cable tv/max online subscribers, u nid to call them to hv it activated from inside your house. Phone lines nid 4 working days to be transferred from existing address.
  8. Hi, WOW, looks better than the 3D... Love the kitchen, my colleague tot its a showroom piece... Very sleek, clean and modern....CLASSSYYY
  9. As u mentioned dat the current a/c is more than 10 yrs old, it is advisable to change the pipings. Theres life span for insulation materials and u wouldn't know how was it installed. Hence its not worth saving a couple of hundreds and to worry about piping problem. We paid ard $3300 for Toshiba sys 3+2, but its a new flat. In your case, they may hv included dismentaling the existing blowers and compressor. Btw, theres a Toshiba non-inverter that has 3 ticks, which is the one we installed. Hope tis helps....
  10. hock, Congrats... U happy until blur.... me didn't change heater, its Nex. Nex, did the they test the heater for u? The guy dat did mine jus left w/o even telling me, when I called citygas, they said dat they will send someone over when cooker hob is installed. Also, do u find dat the water pressure is low? the main is turn up to the max and yet the rain shower no pressure... the taps also not very strong, mayb now mandatory to save water?!
  11. We are planning for retirement in Trinidad. Crime rate there is amongst highest in the Carribean, lots of robbery and kidnapping.... hopefully in 15/20 yrs time, it would improve. I think its worth the risk, just hv to built higher fences and invest in better security system. I believe in 20 yrs time, it would be quite impossible to retire comfortably in S'pore with the increasing standard of living and soaring inflation rate. Well, I m glad that I hv a choice, jus dat to leave my family would be a little tough. But I wouldn't miss the opportunity to retire in the carribean islands.
  12. Dats bcos my sink is a custom order piece dat is integrated with the counter top (seamless), it would be NO joints and its also the same solid material as the counter top. Its not undermount or over mount, its one continuing piece wif the counter top. Dats y can't get it for the carpenter to do the measurement. Unfortunately, the mould for the sink is fixed and cannot be made smaller. Anyway, I hv to put dat behind and march on. . CITY GAS HAVING PROMO FOR RINNAI 8L GAS HEATER + GAS DRYER FOR $668 If u r going for a dryer, its a good deal, cos the dryer alone costs about $600.
  13. I m not a believer, jus dat most around me find our union is fated. about the kissing of both cheeks... still get quite a bit of this from my hb's circle, my feeling is that it brings pple closer instantly. When i first went to Trinidad, i couldn't stand their overly (in my opinion) laid back way of life, they seems to hv a different clock that gives them an extra 12 hours a day or something. Things are slow to get done, nothing seems urgent enough for immediate attention. It took more than an hour just to update your bank account and get a new atm card . pple there are so friendly and warm, strangers greet each other, friends and neighbors always welcome you into their home, anytime of the day. A simple hello to next door neighbor turns into a half day visit wif tea and dinner served. I got a taste of how does it feel to be a minority, but in a good way. When I came back, I missed the greetings and smiles on the road, in the mall. We are more forgiving towards each other bcos of our different background. We always hv to try harder cos we attract more attention than my siblings. We are more open wif each other bcos theres always situation of miscommunication/misconception. We are stronger bcos we went thru lots together........
  14. In my household, its my hb dat has 30 l/s shirts, 10 casual wears, 10 pairs of long pants ironed and hanging in the wardrobe at all time wif about 20+ pairs of shoes in the cabinet. The "hair" is from my short hair dachshund, cos I hv very short hair and my hb botak. Back to the reply. We hv a shoe cabinet in the house bcos kenna stolen b4. Til date still wondering who can wear my hb size 13 shoes??!! Or mayb very difficult to get tis size in S'pore, so just steal...
  15. Hi Purple Since u r already consulting a gyne in KKH, I would encourage u to continue, cos u already did blood tests/scans, etc. If u were to go to another, u would most probably hv to go thru all dat again. Also, u didn't mention your age group, which is also a contributing factor. For women >30 yrs old, its normal to take up to > 1 year of trying. Theres a fertility clinic in KKH, r u wif them or jus consulting a gyne there.... Like wat nimo said, sometimes it helps to give it a break and let nature takes its course... go for a nice romantic getaway... R & R helps to reduce stress hormones which will in turn helps to increase your fertility hormones. All the best to you.
