Hacking/Erecting walls - not sure. Maybe $1,000 - $1,200? Guess, if you are hacking some other walls in the house, it will be cheaper. 01. I still prefer Option C. It's practical. 02. Say, you are putting WM there, will there be issue with electrical point? I think it is illegal to have points in toilets - I may be wrong here.

Thanks for the compliment, worldangel. Hehe, and i like your username! We tried to make the place simple during renovation, with objective to make it bright and spacious. Hehe, yup we kinda like the open MBR toilet concept. But, err, it makes it difficult when there are guests in the house.

Hehe, it's my pleasure. Just thought it is an interesting idea. It derived from our detailed ID. Btw, have a question for you, pink. Understand that you are getting the access balcony. Say, if such a unit is sold [with owner already purchased this area], will the new buyer have this access balcony too? Or the buyer needs to buy it from HDB too?

LOL, hwah, u win liow

Alamak u .. LOL, just becos i said u iron yr spread sheet everyday, u gotta pose such a difficult and tricky question hor. most extreme? hmm, lasik the eyes and make them to see everything neat and nice?

Sorry missyoumuch - hijack your thread. Wahlau new, you iron your bed spread everyday ah? So neat!

Yup, Angel81 has a good idea. So, you can have a wet and dry area. And, have a feature wall facing the new door [if you are reposition it] to give a grand entrance. If you are thinking of repositioning the wc, get an advice from your plumber. It could be possible - just that, when sourcing for new wc, you need to get a proper specs. I cant recall much about the technical wc thing but there are differences in the market.

Interesting transformation, skyblue. Nice indeed. Love the extended MBR toilet and the private balcony.

Ah, at last! Indeed, a very interesting concept. Love the island - hehe, make it big big! Will the only wardrobe in your MBR enough? Good to think for more storage in the house, newnyew.

You have a point there, aubrey. Though engaging an ID carries a higher price tag, it is also important that the consumer [us all] must know what we want. Or expect. A good ID must be able to 'educate' the customer, during the period of discussions and renovation, and not only to focus at end results. Having gone through with an ID, which I must say that we were lucky to have her, we still needed to monitor during the renovation progress. The good thing we only had to liaise with her when we were unhappy about certain things. She was lots under our pressure.

Part Two - Wire Management for TV Console When constructing a suspended console, it is also useful to have a hole [inside the console] for wires to come out to reach, say, the subwoofer. In our case, as we have LED light and acrylic under the suspended console, we opt to have a hole by the side. (Hole for wires at left of pic) A removable plank [where the books are] covers all the switches and hides the wires:
-
With all the opening at the right places, it is not difficult. Except, perhaps, when switching on and off the power which we need to open/close the cabinet door.
-
No, there was no extra charge for us as we did alot of joinery works with one carpenter.
-
I dont have a specific picture to show the scv point and telephone socket. However, they are installed as in the picture: And, this is the TV Console in our MBR: With all the wires coming out of the mohair flip-open: The remote control can still work when we just have the door open at this angle:
-
I believe such wire management can also be incorporated with feature wall. When we have a tv console, together with the feature wall, there will be some electrical gadgets placed on top of the console.
-
Having read many renovation works here, thought I share - especially for those that have to design their own TV console, as how to have a nice piece with a good wire management. Basically, we are one that just can't stand the sight of many wires. When we were constructing our TV console, our ID guided us through and told us that it will make not much cost difference [or no difference] for an added wire management feature. It is how we guide the carpenter with the proper instructions. Foremost important is to decide your power points and get the electrician to fix them first. Have consideration for SCV and telephone socket too [in case you are taking up MIO]. These points, as we want them, are to be hidden inside the console. Once these points are installed/fixed, get the carpenter to come down, for design and measurement, and to make sure the console will hide them. Guide the carpenter where you want to have the flip-open. The top of the console is designed with a flip-open with 'mo-hair' at one end: Behind our TV: End Result:

Hi aubrey, I believe yours is blockboard [centre piece] which had its both side pasted with a thin layer of plywood.
-
Hehe, more of this 'solid plywood' pics? One more with smooth side: I guess, when pieces of plywood are sticked together, the side will look smooth [and believe it was 'sand down']. Laminates are then applied. PS: These pictures are for our reference and knowledge, aubrey. They are not meant to a. upset you and b. make Uncle looks bad. Infact, I may want to recommend uncle too to some other friends in future.
-
Hope by posting this pic, it will provide a platform to understand 'solid plywood' when we had been quoted by our carpenters. This is actually done by our carpenter, during renovation, to let us understand the kind of wood we would be getting. In 'solid plywood', it provides durability. Plus, say if we are to knock a nail onto it [example to hang pictures], the nail will get a better grip. More plywood will, and can, be added on to the desired thickness. Hope everything will turn out good, aubrey.

Welcome chip&dale! A simple guide to post pics: 01. Register a free account to store your pictures. One good site is www.photobucket.com 02. Once registered, you can upload the pictures: 03. You can resize your pictures, should they are too big. 04. To post your picture [from photobucket] to renotalk, click that picture and copy and paste the IMG code. Hope to see your pics soon.

To your wonderful journey ahead, tulips! Happy renovating. Looks like we have the exact floor plan.

According to the product manager whom we met during our installation, he mentioned that Blum works efficiently with much heavier loads.

Hi ivy, Pardon me to kaypoh a lil here. It is always good to have a study table. Are the boys sharing this room and for the study table? We have to think long term for them - that they will grow and this study table will be added with more things in future, example PCs. I would have this study table stretched wall to wall. Based on your drawing, I would omit the end support [it will save some width]. However, doing so, there must be a good leg support for the top to balance. The 'balance' or the legs can be your storage. One end storage for each boy. You may also want to consider having a top shelf for them to put their books. Maybe, for your case, you can have two shelves nicely spaced out. When I constructed a shelf for my study table, I also get the electrician to fix a hidden T5 bulb. At the same time, do think about electrical points. Study table, in future, can be full of electrical gadgets and to have points stacked nicely will avoid messy electrical wires in future. Just some idea how I hide all the electrical points for my study table: Wire for T5 at top shelf: The many electrical points for electrical devices hidden on study table:

I am not sure if the shop is still there. There used to be one shop selling them at Block 178 Toa Payoh, nearer to the 'garden temple'.
