We had our curtains from Home Fashions Pte Ltd. The shop is at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, basement 2. Yes, the shop has lots of nice materials but super ex. The workmanship is good and so is the service. The cost for the sheer and dress curtains is about $40 and $30 per metre respectively. Yes, the trunking hides and houses the power cable, hdmi, component cables. The power switches are inside the console. Good to have the TV mounted first before you place the trunks, spearhawk.

Welcome, Cavalier. Hope your search to finalise an ID/contractor will end soon and continue with happy days of renovation.

You're welcome, Amrasenelya. It is a pleasure. The depth of our study table is 650mm inclusive of the switches compartment. Hehe, still, I find it a little 'short'.
-
Thank you for the compliment, aoi.

Hi Amrasenelya, Yup, we have the same for our study table too - which is, err, not so long due to space constraint in the study area. I suggest, if you are doing the same, to have a width of more than 125mm. At this width, I find it is a little cramp when you plug in the switches. A nice width would be 135mm including the mo-hair. Perhaps, some pictures to make it clearer for you:

To Cavalier: Sorry for the delay. Hope all these pictures help. Door Frame Note about hinges - Guess, you have to work with your carpenter for the hinges. As far as I know, the number and positioning of hinges depends on the weight of your door. Basically, it is to prevent misalignment in future. Congrats on the purchase and happy reno, Macbart. It is always the case - with a new house, our old dwelling will slowly become kinda messy and a storage space for new purchases. It does add to our anxiety but in a good way.

*mimicking Moshi* -- "More Pictures! More Pictures!" Hehe, I tend to agree with what Rasp said, mr Kopi All these pictures are good memories when reno is fully completed. Plus, they are like 'Notices' for us to enoy/be attentive. Hope your reno is going well.

Wah .. will do that for you soon. Sounds like more work for me leh I am not sure where we got the feature black wall. It was ordered by our ID. Will need to go through the invoice. Hehe, will revert. Your nick really reminds me of my beloved furbaby leh. Haha, it is making me full of itch to get a new pup.

You may want to visit Furniture Club. They have such sofa. Also, they have a 'flexible' backrest where you can adjust the angles. Personally, what is important with such a concept is the mechanism - its reliability and warranty.

Haha, you are too kind with your words, cavalier! Hope to see your reno soon.

Hi nolit, Here is the HDB guidelines/regulations for Building Works - False Ceiling
-
hi nolit, When I was doing my reno, I learned that HDB has regulation about height to ceiling limit. The only downlight that can fit within the height of my false ceiling is using halogen due to its small casing height. The one thing I like with halogen [though it is said to transmit more heat] is the dimmer function. Alternatively, you can source for LED casing and using LED lights. Your living/dining lighting plan is something like mine. Err, I kaypoh to re-route based on your original. The blue is a two way lights - one switch at entrance and another switch near bedrooms. And, a line of four downlights to a switch. You may want to even-out each of them to cover your whole living area. Just as your original light plan, I have 4 halogen downlights and a hanging dining lamp at dinner area. Personally, I hardly switched on the dining halogen downlights. Hence, these 4 lights are wasted. You can have a dimmer to your hanging dining lamp to create different ambience.

Welcome to RT, eugela. I have the same house layout as yours. Happy reno!

Hi Pet, Hope you are back in the pink of health.

Hehe, Rasp, Welcome me more into the house leh. Wanna see more pics of what's inside. Have been hoping to see more pics for the last few days. Hope you n hb are settling well.

Interesting Proposed Layout Plan, upnorth. And, I like the proposed rooms for the kids. It is 'future-proof' where a door can always be added when they grow up to make it into 2 separate rooms. You have such a big 137sq m house! Happy reno.

Hi feimei, Pardon me for being kaypoh and just to highlight [hehe, in case you overlooked]. I notice the white grout used for the black floor tiles in your kitchen. Perhaps, it is a normal thing for a contractor to do. Perhaps, you requested for it. If that is the case, hehehe, I am really a kaypoh here. When I first noticed my initial finished floor tiles, the white grout was just 'too much'. Already, I had accepted the advise that kitchen floor tiles are best not to be laid too close [minimising between gaps]. In my case, I had the contractor to 'refill' the grout to black - which, to me, it was more greyish when it was done.

I know I shouldnt apologise for adding more comments late [been so busy last few days]. Let me share with you the idea of the angled door. In fact, both glass doors at our toilets [guest and master] cannot be fully open. Rasp is right that most glass toilet doors open inward rather than outward. Old flats, especially mine, have super small toilet. It was a challenge to design, in such a small place, to cater for wet and dry areas. The angle for my common toilet was constructed based on the width of the door [for the comfort of users to go inside without having to take deep breath just to squeeze in]. Most guests that come to my place would always comment that the shower area in my common toilet is not chub/fat-friendly. I always need to 'demo' first how they go in and out. It is the same for the master toilet. Though it is squarish [oops, actually not really square square] and easier to design here, cos of slightly bigger area], the door cannot be fully open but definitely chub/fat-friendly. The door here is also angled. Hehe Looking forward to see more of your reno pics, kopi.

Hehe, ok .. just for you HDMI cable -------------> Technical Diagram ------> TV to Other Gadget -----> Go to your favourite homefix shop ler - think they do sell HDMI cables.
-
If the connection is correct, then it has to do with the cable. For component video, you need component cables. Component cables, though look exactly the same as any RGB cable, the signals are different. Bestest of cos is just to get HDMI. Will solve the problems.

Piang! Gal, cant imagine u climbing up and down to paste all the masking tapes and then painted them! The distance, at where your console is, wont make it any easy for you to paint around that area hor. And, did you bring down that big mirror all by yourself? Ah lau got help anot? Careful leh, pretty. Nice job done!

Not sure if your storage water heater has a temperature setting [from OFF to High]. The setting does help to minimise electrical consumption. For Joven, it is recommended that when the hot water consumption is not in large volume, set the setting to 'Medium'. I was also told by my electrician, for such storage heater, leaving the switch on save electricity. Hehe, coming from an old school, I still prefer your option 1.
