Where To Get Toto Toilet Bowl, Sink & Tap ?
Reiki replied to new_home_maker's topic in Kitchen & Bathroom
I second this shop. Rather quite a big range of Toto sanitary stuffs. Shop has 2 levels of display. Discounts available but you need 'the skill' to bargain. As indicated by green giraffe, more ranges are available at the showroom at Bukit Timah. -
Ooops, please do accept my apologies, Cavalier. 01. Rugs from Furniture Club 02. Curtains from Home Fashions PL. Can't recall the prices. 03. Will be away from mid to end August. Housewarming ah?

Look at the brighter side You will definitely save electricity bills with new electrical wires. I believe most electricians will confirm this theory. Old wires can be electrical vampires especially when connected with old household appliances.

The one thing I kinda regretted about the lighting layout for my dining area is the 4 downlight. Somehow, it just does not serve a purpose but only an aesthetic thing. When there is no dining, there is always enough light from the living/kitchen areas to brighten up the dining area. When dining, the hanging light [above the dining table] is more than sufficient. Having a dimmer for the dining hanging light can adjust for different ambience, which is far efficient than the 4 downlight for dining entertainment. If you insist on having the 4 downlight, proportional layout is important and only your ID will be able to size it/fit up after considering the size of your dining table and the hanging light.

The important thing to look out for a good hood for an open kitchen concept is the air movement, exhaust or recirculation mode and the filtering system. However, bigger air movement also means higher cost. Charcoal filter helps to reduce smell.

All White Theme
Reiki replied to qiqi's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
My experience with black granite top. Both my vanity top use black granite top. The one thing that I am kinda disappointed with it, is the dried watermark stains. I am sure your house will turn turn nice, qiqi. -

Not sure if this range may or will be discontinued soon. As to amplify the roughness of the wall surface, it didn't occur. Perhaps, cos of the good workmanship the contractors did with the wall plaster. I was, indeed, very pleased with the choice and it does give that smooth look. Somehow, I still think it should not give us a problem. -
All White Theme

Just like butterfingerzz, my walls are white [not pure pure white]. We also opted white laminates to some of our built-in cupboard to flush with the wall colour. It is just a personal preference. The paint used was ICI Light n Space's Frosted Dawn. Light n Space, with its technology, makes a room reflect twice as much. Hence, giving a sense of spaciousness, and brightness, throughout. Personally, having white walls make it easier to have arrays of other colours to mix-and-match furnishings. Maintenance is not that difficult. Infact, since it is always easier to spot marks/dirt/smudges on white surface, cleaning comes naturally thus making it 'clean' again. -
Led Cabinet Light Strips For Kitchen / Bathroom ?
Reiki replied to new_home_maker's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
I still think that your joiners and electricians need to work together on this to achieve a neat outcome. There should not be additional cost for your joiner as it is part of the kitchen cabinet design. In my case, we 'cover' up the LED with a piece of acrylic so as to diffuse the 'dotty' reflection. -
Hi adah, First, let me congratulate you on the new house. Happy reno! We probably have the same house layout. Sorry for being kaypoh here - looking at this picture and the size of our common MBR, there is a possibility of a narrow walk space between the TV and the bed [near to the window]. Guess, the only way to make room around that area would be the thickness of the erected wall [for the TV] and the length of your bed. Regards

An alternative to cutting cost for glass backsplash: - Paint the glass. A glass manufacturer would be able to do that. A clear glass will cost more and it will give a pure white result on white paint. To use white paint on normal glass, the result will be a little greenish.

Led Cabinet Light Strips For Kitchen / Bathroom ?
Reiki replied to new_home_maker's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
Yes, do consider where you going to hide the adapter. Some adapter can be rather big. Also, bear in mind that LED will give 'dotty' reflection on shiny ground, unlike T5 that gives an even lighting. To some people, to avoid the 'dotty' reflection, they encase the LED lights which means more cost. -
The answer is yes. When my ID complained to Rinnai about the non-even bluish flame [Rinnai's inner flame should give a uniform blue flame], Rinnai personnel came over to our place. The guy told us and demonstrated the feature.

Where Can I Find Such Kitchen Racks Besides Sim Siang Choon?
Reiki replied to Reno145's topic in Kitchen & Bathroom
You may want to try Genova at Bendemeer Road. Think they have lots of such things too. -
My experience: - The Rinnai Inner-Flame hob is indeed powerful. It cooks/fries food faster. - It can be connected to LPG. - There is a safety valve feature - If not mistaken, when there is gas leakage for certain seconds, it will auto shut.

Sorry for the late reply. Had been on holidays. Thanks for the kind compliments, El Nino and eugela. The kitchen sink was bought from Toto's showroom along Bukit Timah Road. The specific model is Ishibashi and the dimension is 1150 x 515 x 205mm. Yes, it is kinda long though it was not my ideal for depth. The sink bowl has 2 configurations - either left or right, depending your preference and kitchen setup. Err, the price is quite on the high side.

Cavalier, No, we didn't hack the floor. We raised the floor, not with cement, to place the woods. The purpose is for future maintenance where we could just lift the wood for a thorough cleanup of that area. I have PMed you the contact and the cost.

The height depends on your comfort level, spearhawk. In my case, before the TV was mounted, the delivery guys/installers asked if we would always be watching the TV lying down or sitting on the bed. The height was then determined. Personally, I think this is how TV should be mounted. It should be at a comfortable level.
