At last, we managed to solve the problem with the Franke Island Hood. It took few days with few alternatives. The lesson learned - it will be very problematic to install an island hood in old hdb unit if you don't have a good floor-ceiling height.

Thanks! All the best to your reno. I am sure it will be nice. We are using led lights. Our designer feels it will give a uniform hotspot throughout which cannot be achieved with a normal light tube. And led light consumes lower electricity cos of its lower wattage. Thanks Angel81. Will try to post more pics. We are busy cleaning up the place the last few days as we will be moving in early next week. Thanks! It is custom made. Err, not very sure of the price - Designer is yet to invoice us but were told about $850.

The completion date changed few times Initially, we were told early september, then mid september, then early october. Problem is, it is an architect friend handling our project .. it is abit hard to be nasty My place is in Jurong East Reno Updates: The Living Room The Kitchen - We are still having problem with Franke Island Hood. Seems no personnel can install it The Wet Area - The Dry Area - The Kingsized Bed Frame

The Incomplete Kitchen Cabinet We can't afford a full Blum system. Only using the mechanism for all the drawers and top hung cabinets. Carpenters waiting for the glass framed to install to the drawers and doors. Our kitchen will be black floor, white glass framed drawers and black top. The Dry Area: The Wet Area: Hopefully, the island hood can be installed this monday.

Often, we wonder how long does it take for a renovation to finish? We feel that our renovation has been dragging too long and there is still no indicative date for a handover. It has now more than 3 months - haha, it is 3 months and 6 days to be exact All over the house, there are still some works to be completed. Anyway, sharing here some of the renovation pictures: Carpentry works in Dining Area. The wardrobe, right of picture, is basically to conceal the aircon trunkings. Our new gate: The Study Area and the kiasu electrical power plugs at study table:

It's 'Recycled Wardrobe'. A term used by most IDs. I was also confused when the term was first introduced to me. Basically it is a wardrobe to store our tshirts and/or shorts and/or jeans that were used once and not due for washing yet. Think it is neater to have a proper place for such thing.

Lightings All throughout the house, we only use halogen down light except for the dining area. Some lights were up and running yesterday: 1. At the Master Toilet Works are still not completed here. Where the lights are, they should be covered with glass. 2. At the Common Toilet

After a bad week with our joiner, which he supposed to finish all woodworks at MBR n Study area by 20th Sept, we managed to see some of the works [almost] done yesterday: Master Wardrobe Initially, we wanted to have a WiW but due to space, our designer suggested a back-to-back identical master wardrobe. Wardrobe in Study area Study Table Designer forgot to submit the drawing for a top cabinet to the joiner. As such, the work is delayed. The Recycled Wardrobe and TV Console

At last, our joinery works are slowly progressing. The first step is to box up the common HDB water/sanitary pipes in the toilets and the balcony. Boxing up works - not completed: At the Balcony Before: After: At the Master Bedroom Toilet Before: After: (The number of shelves in the Recycled Wardrobe is not right. We should have hooks to hang for our day to day recycled clothes) We built a Recycled Wardrobe to store the water tank. Also to place the daily 'recycle' clothes. At the Guest Toilet Before : After: This week will be rather interesting for us. We are expecting the joiner to complete the following wood works in the master bedroom and study area: 01. Renovation works were kinda slow for last week. Only two major things were done. The parquet at bedrooms were finally cured and treated and lightly lacquered. Also, the chengal woods at the balcony are laid. Only waiting for the final coating which will be done before the handover. Parquet in the house: 01. At the main entrance 02. The Guest Room 03. Went down to the house yesterday to kaypoh with the progress. Hoping to see the wood works on the balcony which we were told was done last friday. Instead, when we reached there, the woods were not laid yet However, the painting throughout the house has completed. We believe it was only the first coating as there were about 2 full cans not opened yet. We are not colourful people and chose ICI Light & Space's Frosted Dawn for the whole house. Actually, had wanted to have it pure white. View of Study Room from Master Bedroom: View of Living, Dining and Kitchen: Also, we noticed that our Master Toilet's feature wall had been oil-glazed. Now, it looks 'shinier' and blacker.

Thanks SmartFool for your kind words. We actually hope to move in by end of this month. Perhaps, should start giving pressure to our designer.

Yes, we feel that it is only 50% completed to date. We are now given the date, 18th September. Don't think we will move in immediately. Would prefer to 'air' the house, of all the chemical smells, after that so that our dog won't suffer. Likely to move in October now. Our concern is the delivery of most items that we had ordered. Not sure they can delay further - already, we had postponed the dates. Hehe, the delivery of the dining set is only in November. We are lucky that the company will loan us a set when we move in.

One of our most expensive single purchase is our dining set. We are getting this table (1.6 x 7.5 m and can be extended up to 2.2m) without the chairs. And 6 of this chair:

The Toilets The two toilets - Master and Guest, are still not completed. Only the tiles are laid. The shower glass, sanitaryware and shower sets will only installed much later. Few things that we are happy here: 1. Rather than the normal drop, we make sure that we have a gentle ram instead. Ram at Guest Toilet Ram at Master Toilet 2. The custom made soap racks. Rack at Guest Toilet Rack at Master Toilet 3. The Master Toilet The Feature Wall needs to be oil-glazed to make it shine and 'more' black. The ugly pipes will be boxed up. We will erect a full length recycled wardrobe next to the pipes and just after the ceiling beam. PS: Sorry guys .. some of the pics are just too big even though it has been resized.

Our renovation is progressing rather slow. Now, into the 6th weeks, we are only about 50% done. There are still tons of works to do. Renovations done so far: 01. Installation of false ceiling all throughout the house. 02. Wall smoothened and plastered. The Living Area: A nice boxed-up of aircon trunks under the beam and the new bedroom door frame: 03. Laying of parquet teakwood in all the bedrooms including at the house main entrance. We omitted skirtings all throughout the house. The parquet is being cured now. Sanding down and matte works will only be carried out on 1st September. The Main Entrance: Master Bedroom and Study Area: More stories and pictures at Reiki Sanctuary
