Rasp, You have a good carpenter! Do check with your carpenter on the number of screws they drilled this console to the wall. As it is a suspended console, I do hope you had highlighted to your carpenter the number of gadgets that you are going to house and/or will be sitting on top the console. It is important to have the right screw support the weight of all your gadgets. A lesson learned from my carpenter - some HDB walls are not solid 'brick' enough to hold screws especially walls outside the kitchen area.

All paint shop should have. Buy the appropriate thickness. Given a choice, I would get the most thickest one to accomodate all the thick cables in one trunk. Unfortunately, the electrician brought this piece and we accepted it. We got it nailed just like any normal electrical casing.
-
Sure, go ahead if this help, pbtgal.

Heng you said it looks neat. LOL. Cos, sometimes I still wonder if a laminated boxup will be nicer? We got our electrician to fix it for us. Haha, we were making use of all the contractors when they were still renovating the house then. Guess, you can always ask your contractor to do it for you too. Unfortunately, the painter finished his job then and got to DIY myself.

Wah, I like the space! Hehe, this is a kaypoh thought when I see your big kitchen. It would be nice - ok, this is just me cos I love plants - it would be nice to have a shelf just infront of the washing machine [also to 'flush' it from this angle of the pic] with lots of plants! I see that you going to have a dryer too as there is no hanging poles in the kitchen. I like the window grill.

Hehe, you are very sharp! It is actually a non-painted electrical trunk. Yes, it can be opened. You can get it at any neighbourhood hardware shop. Some people suggested that we should have a laminated [same as the TV Console] box-up but we find it is 'weird' with a vertical line. Rather, we chose just to use those trunk and flush it with same wall colour. Hehe, the painted trunk - still obvious but we just have to live with it:

Hehehe, just to say 'hello'. Can't wait to see more pics!!

Sorlie ler .. cos hor, I was busy over the long weekend plus kaypoh [no no .. got invited actually] for their hari raya celebrations. Sorry to hear the news, pretty. Hmm .. so what had not completed? Yay! so you still have '25% balance' to play around [think positive! ] Just believe that everything will be ok, new. Hehe, no lah, dun worry oso ler -- no nid to invite me oso i wont be angry ah! You take care!

No question is silly lah, pretty. I am not very particular with geomancy - just didn't want to restrict things in the head and making life difficult for myself. All the plants brought into the house have the right of space anywhere and everywhere. Hehe, afterall, they are brought in to be nurtured. Having said that, I am influenced by a friend who instilled fear in me and, guess, I just have to 'follow'. Fact is, to me, when a thought is constantly passed, the energy kinda disrupted. The only plant that I will not placed anywhere in the house is Money Plant. Her theory - money plant is not supposed to be in MBR cos MBR is about sleeping [money should not sleep .. LOL]. Nor should this plant be in toilet cos it is about flushing out. All other plants in the house are left free. I like plants cos they are life. The placement of each plant, anywhere in the house, is about generating energy in that area. Guess, for me, it is all about intention. Your house ready liow anot? More pics leh.

Hi samdolmat, Hehe, the slow reno works got nothing to do with any individual contractors. Our ID was very meticulous and wanted the best for us. Though we had a general overview of the renovation and knew all the contractors for the whole project - and how the house will look like right from the start - all designs with their actual measurements [she wanted to be accurate] would only be given to each contractor to proceed after one trade completed with the works. Hehe, at times, she can also just reject certain things cos they were not up to her expectation and liking. This could cause another delay.

Rondy has a point there. There is always 'trade discount' where contractors enjoy from suppliers. It boils down to whether these contractors are willing to waiver [or discounted] the cost back to customers. Tiles, in my opinion and past experience, could be over supplied before the renovation. Many people are often stuck with excess. A good contractor with good relationship with the supplier would return these excess tiles [back to supplier] and refund back to customer. BUT, it depends on what is being agreed in the beginning. Marcus, if you don't mind disclosing - as I have a friend looking into resale possibility in Jurong West: 01. Which part of Jurong West are you? 02. How big is your flat? 03. What was the COV that you paid? You can PM me. Thanks in advance.

Wow, your place looks SOOOOO spacious. Imagine if light coloured wall/tiles are used, it surely brings out a bigger sense of space. A BIG congratulations, yhanie.

To a renotalk-er who asked for my house plan, here goes: The Original Layout:

A well thought-off idea of a WIW, Rasp It can also be a simple storage for the big big travelling luggages. Hehe, I like the idea of 'hiding' away ironing board at that corner. Perhaps, get your carpenter guy to drill a hook [big enough] to hang the board at that corner. Good job done, Rasp.

Thanks thanks, monkichi. Renovations took almost 3 months Have PMed you the contact.

hahaha .. no worries.

Thanks, dreamer. Congratulations! Where is your place? I have PMed you the contact.

The purpose of installing hanging lights is to create an ambience for specific area, to brighten up and making that area warmth and cozy. Should this lighting was purchased for the living room, guess it would be nicer to shift it to that area. Likewise, it should shift to the dining area if you have bought it for that purpose. Really need to do it before paintings are done.

Rectification depends on the relationship between your ID and the carpenter. I feel there will be cost argument and, hehe, you should stay away when ID settling this issue. On your part, just stick on that ID had forgotten the initial arrangement. The most practical way correcting the problem is for the carpenter to strip off the laminate and re-apply.
