Few days later... Previously, I wrote about the shoe cabinet need to open the hole for the socket & light switch. Mr E workers came again in tactical movement and install this. Pardon for the dark image as there was no lights installed yet. I was startled to see this in the beginning. I thought we want to have the shoe cabinet closer to the door?! I called Mr E immediately. He explained that we need to keep some space away from the door to let the ease of moving furnitures in and out of the house. Then I realised he made sense and did good thinking on this.

Sourcing for A Curtain Contractor The curtain guy was here. He quoted me $5.50 per sq ft. He took measurement 80 inch by 72 inch. Quoted me $500 for the two bedrooms doing roller blinds, that means $250 per set. He explained to me about the solar film to block the sun & quote me $940 for 4 set of windows (after discount, original $1150). The brand he used is Rainbow, claiming is USA solar film. (He criticised my unit "why so hot! You need to paste film to block the sunlight") After he left, I checked his math of his quote for the roller blind. He overcharge in his verbal quote. After conversion to sq ft, total is 40 sq ft for one bedroom window. 40 * $5.50 is $220 per bedroom. So he overcharge by $30. Not very honest for the first impression. Does anyone has a reliable curtain/blinds contractor to recommend me? I looking for solutions to block the heat.

After the aircon is up, Mr J came to take measurements, to confirm the dimensions before he tell his workers to cut the wood. That's why you could see such narrow gap between the aircon duct and wardrobe. Swee! Of course, I didn't expect first time will surely do everything right. One hiccup on the shoe cabinet! Obviously no one thought of this including us. There should be a hole for the light switch as we want to install T5 light recess inside. This space has addition socket to let our guests charge their phones. Since HDB did not provide any electrical socket near this area, we decided to request Mr E to open this hole for a light switch and a socket. Good lesson learnt.

A flashback entry... On one rainy and quiet Saturday morning, as I was walking to see my unit... I saw from downstairs my windows are opened. I quicken my steps to take the lift up and found that my gate is opened!! Oh my carpentry is finally here! Mr E did not tell me they are coming so early. And because its rainy, some of the cabinets are bit wet. Mr E and his worker assured me that they will dry up soon. No issue one.

Hi zen_zen, Thank you for dropping by. Sorry I couldn't pm you. No idea why. I have just listed all the works completed in a few posts before. Let me know if you have more questions.

Hi Weiyan, Thanks for asking. I have posted all the works completed. Eventually come to 20K+, less than 21K. There were some savings since some items have changed like the PD door, louvered ones will be about $50 more per door. We decided to go for normal ones since the louvered ones have to run through every step, so it will require more effort to clean. Yes Muji has nice wood tones which we like them very much.

Hi readers, Sorry for my lack of post recently. The handover was completed last week. But still in minor touch up. Bathroom tile chip off! No idea when and how did it happen. And kitchen cabinet door laminate chip off too. Mr E has helped to bring back the cabinet door to rectify. Right now busy on my 8-5 job, wedding prep and many things have taken over my time to write more about my reno journey. Before i drift and fall asleep... Let me summarise the items completed. Carpentry works 1. MBR Wardrobe 6 ft w/swing doors 2. Living Room 4.5 ft shoe cabinet full height 3. Kitchen carpentry a) 9 ft bottom cabinet @ sink area Opposite side of sink area: b) 2 ft full height cabinet for oven c) 5 ft barcounter top (40mm thick ledge) d) 3 ft bottom drawers e) 3 ft above fridge cabinets f) install iQuartz top 12 ft at bottom cabinets 4. Bathrooms vanity cabinet with mirror - install Solid Surface top on vanity cabinet Masonry - Both bathrooms overlay wall tiles - Shower Kerb for both bathrooms - Kitchen base and service yard base Electrical works - install lighting fixtures - added new sockets - install control switch for induction stove - install a heater switch (indicator) at oven area - install ceiling fan at MBR, wall fan at kitchen. Plumbing - install storage water tank - install bidet sprays - install bathrooms basin (yes I've replaced HDB ones) - added washing point at service yard (reuse from one of the basin) Others - Install PD louvered doors (changed to normal PD doors, therefore it's cheaper) - Install kitchen aluminium bi-fold door (didn't manage to do this due to the limitation, shall blog about this in more detail) - Install sliding doors at master bathroom - Install acrylic panels at both bathrooms boxup - Install bathrooms & Kitchen accessories - Install FOC shelvings at DB box - Floor protection - Chemical cleaning - Painting whole house (not exactly since all doors & door frame are not painted, require a top up since the paint used will be different) Remaining works by others Aircon by ColdEngine Bomb Shelter Shelvings by Mr Kay (via Mr E's contact, got small discount! ) Curtain/blinds - still in midst of getting a quote Argh I haven't have the time to write about the shopping of Taobao items and many more. I will try to write more the next few days.

. Good job! Thanks for sharing your tips -
Hi Auckerian, I have pm you. Contractor J does not have much concepts like most ID would tell you what a Scandinavian or Modern Contemporary interiors will look like. But if you could share with him your ideas, he will also give his inputs.

I'm totally noob in telling whether the kitchen faucet is stainless steel SUS304 or not. I read most of the faucets are brass made with chrome coating, that is why the cost is lower compared to stainless steel. Could someone share their opinion on this?
