Inconsiderate Neighbours
phaffia replied to Air's topic in Moving House: Packing, Storing, Moving To Your New House
Hi all, bringing up an old thread..... This morning at around 4.45am, there were several banging and knocking sounds from the upstairs neighbours. Initially I thought it's just a random noise but it lasted till 515am!! I really wonder what they are doing at that hour. So I went upstairs and knocked on the direct neighbour's door, and asked nicely if they have heard the noises. She claimed that it was the unit above them and they were affected by that as well. I'm not trying to be cynical but I just want to find out if it's possible for the unit 2 floors above my unit, to cause noisy disturbances because I've never experienced this before. Thanks in advance. -
Why not do something simpler and cheaper with vinyl wall decals?
-
What about putting them together to make a coffee table or something?
-
Maybe you can state your requirements before the others can help you. Like for eg, your budget, no. of tables, location etc...

Hi reffine, We (Hubz and I) have been staying at our flat for about a month, but only during the weekends at the moment, till our customary wedding. Hougang St 91 is pretty nearby. Hehehe No worries about the questions. Glad to be of help.

Hi Reffine, Welcome to Hougang! The environment here is quite alright. Whereabouts are you located in Hougang? I find it ok to take public tpt here as there are a few buses that will lead you to MRT stations along the way (at our area) like 109, 103, 70, 43 goes to Serangoon MRT 72 goes to Hougang MRT 156 goes to SengKang MRT or to Bishan MRT (Opp) etc..... depending on where you are taking the buses.

Hi Mr Chong, I know this may sound weird but I found a cricket in my room, making a lot of chirping noises in the middle of the night. I do not know where it came from. Does this bode anything at all? Thanks !

I second Inverter because of the recent hike in electricity prices. We kinda regret not getting one now.

I was recommended Panasonic by a friend hence we got that one for the master bedroom. Our common bathroom has the 707 compact.

Hi applefreak, Thanks! You do have a point there. And yes, the contractor did mention something about damaging the countertop. However, we are just concerned that we will accidentally 're-position' the hob when stir-frying is done on the wok. Have you encountered that problem before?
-
I haven't been to the flat since. The contractor is supposedly completing the rectification works today. Will go and take a look this evening. Thanks once again gladyslim!

Thanks Mace and gladyslim for your suggestions! Truly appreciate this. Hi Mace, just one more question to consult you. Will silicon last the high temperatures that the hob will be exposed to during cooking? Hi gladyslim, I am not sure whether the gasket is in place or not. Will go check. Are there any other things that I need to take note of, when installing the hob? To be honest, I have thought the installation should be quite simple since I haven't read of any problem from other forummers with their hob installation. Thanks once again.

Hi all, My renovation is just about to be completed. There's a problem with the installation of the hob and I hope someone out here can help to shed some light on this. Our hob was installed however it is not secured on the kitchen top i.e. it can be moved about (1-2cm). I wish to know if this is normal. Have mentioned this to the contractor and he claims that it is normal. He suggested using double sided tape (I was like "What the h*ll") or using silicon (he said he wouldn't recommend this as my top is granite). Now I don't really know what other alternatives there can be. Hope someone can help enlighten me about this issue. Thanks in advance

Mine's walking distance from Hougang Point at Hougang Ave 9. Your place is quite near a lot of shops. Very convenient.

Hi Babyiguana, I bought a resale too. Which area of Hougang is your resale flat located? If you're travelling by public transport from Bukit Batok, I'd reckon the best way to get to Hougang is through the North-South MRT line, stop at Ang Mo Kio station and take a bus down to Hougang via Ang Mo Kio Ave 3. Not sure with regards to driving because I don't drive and am not familiar with Bukit Batok. Hope it helps.

Do look around for the designs that you like because sometimes one shop may not be able to cater to all of your needs, and hence you may need to source your items at different shopt. I went to Royal Fanco (Henry), Hoe Kee and Eng Soon Huat (Miss Lee) along Jalan Besar, for my bathroom accessories, water closets, taps, kitchen taps. Bought my Teka kitchen sink at Universal Union. Good luck!

Hi all, I just brought a crestar airvac. However it does not come with the fan speed wall mount control. Does any one know if i can just purchase any universal switch (ex, hager control switch) from Choo Chiang and just install it?
-
Thanks v much, gosaldar!
-
Hi gosaldar, May I enquire where you've purchased your Abloy locks from?

Wow...your reno looks good...esp like the colour in your toilet... Your parquet looks good. Gaps can't be helped but I heard it can be filled later on. The main concern is to allow the parquet to "shrink" sufficiently in time. Nice nice....
-
Hehe...me also considering taking granite for my kitchen top. With regards to the ant issue, would it be that with the colour..it's harder to detect ants...??

Dear all, I have made a mistake over the pricing of the parquet flooring in my previous posting. Have made the appropriate corrections. Sorry for any inconveniences caused.
