  1. A couple of pictures to visualise. and
  2. Changing the doors and the colour of the kitchen cabinet can be done but my own estimate will be more than 50% of a new one. Still there are some savings to be had but you lose a new update in its design.
  3. Not sure if 15k is enough given today's prices. We tend to think it's basic renovation we are looking at but we have a tendency to do more rather than less, and it all adds up.
  4. Just to sharre: I found and cut out a newspaper ad a few weeks back from an company that provides adjustable boltless steel shelving, chrome plated wire shelving with galvanised panels. It claims to take 200kg and 100kg load respectively. Company is Sim Win Liang Pte Ltd (you can google this out cause they have a web address). NO IDEA about their product and service though.
  5. Jack: We don't. Stuff goes into cupboards, under the bed you know.. the usual places and no problems at all though the new house will have one.
  6. For the Kitchen, would a wooden door be as good compared to a glass door?
  7. I would like to find out from the folks here if these places sell not just the switch-plate face but also the compatible case cover box to go with it (which to attach the face plate - see picture). I am asking this because our ID/Contractor tells us for non-concealed wiring (ie. older HDB estates), the face plates sold by Legrand / Clipsal is not compatible and cannot be used with those cheap, normal case cover box ??? Because it is not a direct fit, we will end up with crooked/slanted switches? Advise appreciated! Tks.
  8. I had been monitoring HDB Resale prices for some time and I think the lower asking COV today is partly due the increase in valuation. IMHO: There should be a property dip but it's anyone's guess when but prices will further increase in the long run (good for folks who buy to stay).
  9. Well you could consider looking at some of the 3-Pic in 1-Frame from Bridal Shops for nifty ideas! I think some of providing acrylic panels with wooden frames.
  10. I might be facing this issue for our Feature Wall Cabinet. Not sure if we ought to place it smack right in the middle of the Living Room wall or a little to the left so that there is better use of space on the right, say maybe can put a phone pedestal or something.
  11. From my understanding, if you choose to overlay the tiles - the warranty of tile workmanship & material ONLY covers the part between the new tile to stick/bond tightly to the old tile, but not the old tile's stick/bond on the original flooring.
  12. Nets: I like your bar counter top. Always wanted one but no space for that!
  13. So is it true that disputes will abound for all renovation projects which means not one project could be a smooth sail? Managing the owners expectations, the limit and ability of the ID/Contractor and the budget at length are all potential explosive points.. I cannot imagine any reason for the same depth for top & bottom kitchen cabinets other than the incompetence of the ID/Contractor or a miscommunication, also not ruling out the possibility of a sabotage by a disgruntled worker..
  14. L-box generally cost more? L-box is normally 12 or 18 inches broad so see if that suits your layout. L-box still retains the expansive ceiling look while false ceiling will simply lower the feeling of the ceiling height. Both can be customised with designs/lighting effects. Idea is to get the effect and design rightly compatible in your house. I prefer a mix of both, false ceiling in general but L-Box for sofa and bed areas good luck with the renovation.
  15. Quotation must be free. 2D or simple drawings could also be free. Bring floor plan will do (most will photocopy and return you the original). Maybe it is wise to remove your block, floor and unit number from your floor plan for your privacy. Bargaining power is with owner until he signs on the line so remember to keep your options open, scout around more ID/Contractor firms and do your homework in forums such as Renotalk. NEVER RUSH to sign. Last thing is that you need to define for yourself what is the difference between ID and Contractor.
  16. My sympathies.. more like a BAD Apple!
  17. Bought stuff from Univonna too hopefully they will be delivered with no problems.
  18. Reiki: Does Legrand Mallia have the base container (not the switch cover) for houses without concealed wiring? ie. of where this switches are matched onto. I just wanted to find out more before I could find time to go Choo Chiang later.
  19. Just been to Morris @ Admiralty area, nothing much of interest for me.
  20. Not able to advise but with such plastic wraps, will there be a chance of water stagnation?
  21. Nets: When you pass by places that makes car plates, they might be able to custom for you too. What is the material you are looking for, Nanyang Signcraft? Link
