  1. some initial photos to share... which I think are not nice at all share quotation please
  2. Parquet for the win trusted everywhere... expensive but lasting
  3. 1 of the IDs i went to told me that some brands dun have warranty against warping... you gals/guys might wanna take note of this clause
  4. laminates will definitely last more than a couple of years some brands even provide 10 years warranty... Parquet flooring is made of real wood. If it's well cared for, it will last nearly forever. A solid hardwood floor can be sanded and refinished several times over many, many years. like what gadgetgal mentioned, varnish is like a protective layer... I dun think laminate flooring can be varnished
  5. i think u meant the laminate will peel off? 1 ID told me not to use laminate flooring for my platform as the corners will peel off after a few years... parquet is actually not hard to maintain... i've been living with parquet flooring almost half my life... as long as the parquet flooring is varnished, it'll last... except for scratches varnish can do wonders, recommend that we varnish our toilet doors as the toilet is a wet area and water definitely affect our doors
  6. cannot use wet mop on parquet flooring... damp mop is fine as parquet flooring is varnished. been doing it for the more than 10 years in my current place not sure if u can even use a damp mop on laminate flooring ceremic tiles are what older generation houses are using... seems to crack easily? indian granite are lighter & nicer as compared to the china ones we see @ showflat #06-106
  7. FYI, Li Sheng & Tong Hong are related. Nephew & Uncle respectively... How to enter blk 27B?
  8. once u received the quotation, share with me ok? we compare....
  9. nemofc, look for Patrick (U-Home) and ask him if both of us engage him... will there be additional discount PM me if you wish to have his contact... He has some good ideas, but his pricing lose to GPlan based on the same design
  10. stuck between GPlan & U-Home now Hmm, no hurry for completion as my customary will only be in Nov 2008
  11. most likely my HLE will expire before key collection day... I'll probably call them when I receive the notification and not initiate anything as I only wish to do my reno after CNY... no point for me to collect keys and start paying when I'm just gonna leave my house in its present state
  12. before I selected my unit, I went to the site to survey... went up the O/H bridge and noticed that the low level units are in full view from the O/H bridge... no privacy
  13. done by the IDs? b'cos most of the units have their gate locked, no way to vanish the wooden doors
  14. will be dropping by on Friday noticed that blks 25B & 27B are close to the O/H bridge... anyone chose those units which are visible from the bridge?
  15. my in-charge is Amy Tam and she told me that HDB will take a minimum of 5%, up to $0 left in our CPF gadgetgal - u only paid 10% downpayment? SERS batch?
  16. hmm... I thought it'll be wiped out completely, that's precisely why I wanna delay my collection anyone can confirm if they take 5% or more when we collect our keys? HDB left 1k+ for your Oct installment? When you collected your keys, was it more than 5% withdrawn from your accounts?
  17. i believe so... i saw the process of laying tiles @ Blk 25B 6th floor showroom by Tong Hong... they will spread cement like kaya and place the tile on top... no screeding needed. laminates & parquet have a flat base... therefore a need cement screeding to level the floor tiles usually have grooves below and laying tiles on a flat screeded floor is not ideal, the grooves cannot grip on a flat floor Recommended Link : http://www.stdesign.com.sg/FAQ.htm
  18. gadgetgal, we can delay the collection of keys right? were u told otherwise?
  19. yup... in fact, I'm gambling with my reno $$$ now... there're pros & cons to our methods... I start slow, but I have more to "top up" should the investments go red, helps me bring down my WAC... U start fast, but u have to pray hard that nothing happens to the economy and u'll gain much more than me in a shorter period !!
  20. for me, I pay as much downpayment as I can so I'll have more excess CPF monies every month... with more excess, I can diversify into more investments or maybe take up a regular premium life policy
  21. my property agent friend told me to take the longeest loan period allowed
  22. for our type of windows, the handles can break easily as they age... and they also become loose over time, so the tighter the better the handle in my current bedroom broke and the maintenance guy cannot find a replacement for me and it is not easy to replace
