  1. i normally just buy thru NTUC online and pay using credit card...paying for a 3 years package comes with saving as compare to 1 year package.
  2. hi everyone, just to share. My fren had an unhappy incident as she was late in taking over the flat she bought. The seller not to happy cos the money transfer will be delayed or something. Guess what, they flush undies in the toilet drainage system. One week after moving in....the toilet flooded!! It is blessing if buyer can be in good terms with the sellers cos we never know what he does to the house that he so unwilling to sell it to you. Especially stuff that are not visible (for example painting the ceiling black is not possible). It scary to think about it. it is unfortunate that lauahkua met such a seller. I think if u really suceed in buying the house, do change all piping, wiring and lock your letterbox. or instal a small tiny cctv outside the house?? Cos the lady so vicious, even track to where u stay and come all the way. so scary...
  3. my fren also explain that it is better to redeem the loan cos saving on the interest. But if the OA only tahan 1 year, safe period?
  4. for my family, we save the water from the washing machine to flush the toilet bowl after we use it. The 1st and 2nd drain is very soapy and most dirty, so not suitable lah. We will keep the last drain, hence toilet always have pails and pails of water...either wash the toilet floor or flush toilet bowl after we use. also, if there is only one cup or one spoon in the kitchen basin, try not to wash it 1st. wait till there are more. It would save water and soap to wash all at the same time. This does not apply to oily crockery. just to share.
  5. mine is 4 room, 4A 108sqm, highest floor (11th only lah) at 20 year old HDB in north of SG. I dun nid to pay cash monthly as the OA is enuff. When the OA build up, i din pay HDB just in case i jobless and still have OA to tahan for at least 1 year. Now, at least 10 years ba. Come to think about it, i admit i am not brave enuff to buy a EM or those double storey HDB flat which i alwasy wanted since i was a kid. My fear is when my monthly CPF contribution goes directly to paying for the flat, i got no CPF saving left. But when i vist frens house, those with EM or double storey. I envy leh. hmm..i dun even know how much it cost. maybe i should ask ask hor...
  6. Hi all, Allbest came to for 1st visit to instal the trunking, punctual 9am!! Yawn. We discuss about 1 hour on the way the trunking should be run and effect of future reno. Mine is 'Class 0 insulation' and the guys bring the wrong one. One drove back to collect Class 0 and back swiftly. They said it is indeed better than Class 1. One guy is fast and the other one is abit slow. They finish at about 8pm and din even break for lunch at all. Overall, satisfactory with the way trunking is laid, look nice and does not affect any door frame or wardrobe.
  7. i din go geylang. Only walking aroung balestier is enuff to tire me out. As i am only buy 2 lightings, dun really have bargaining power. Must give and take, between time and money. My hubby not that kind would wan to scout for days, ask 20 shops for the prices for the same item and go back another day again to buy. As long as the price quoted to you is reasonabl and we are willing to pay, i would consider that a rip off. But after you buy, do not go around to ask prices again cos will be heartpain if got cheaper quote. hehe
  8. We are not comfortable with having a big reno load. hence i choose to do stage by stage over long period of time. So we feel comfortable and not under huge pressure of not meeting payments. We try not over purchase, only allow ourself to buy something (say 3k TV) when a instalment for one item (2k sofa and 1k cabinet) has been paid up. We did not aircon the whole house cos there is only two of us. My mentality if you have it, you will use it. If dun have it, no use it loh. Fan is just good enuff. I also agree with apple that there is no right or wrong cos you are spending your own money and entitled to spend it your own way.
  9. cant leh..mine is a 20years original HDB toilet (resale). I bought and stayed since Year 2000 and never reno, only change toilet bowl and basin. Only one toilet has shower facilities. Only now then reno cos the toilet tiles are white and light light blue, very very easy stained and dirty. Very eyesore.
  10. many along jalan besar too. I bought mine from Royal Franco.
  11. you not wearing those long long gown that covered the feet? I only get a cheap flat white slip on cos must stand very long, scare my leg tired. hehe. But my mil says cannot give away or lend to fren if i dun wan to wear...only can throw away. Parents always got weird superstition.
  12. some people may wan to have more, own more, own better as compared to their peers. But there are just too many things to compare and will never end. Jus hope everyone live within your means and comfortably. Recently i am renovating my 2 toilets, and merely plastering my masterbed room, hacking the wardrobe, window grill (no use for grill and dun like to clean it), paint the MBR and fix some powerpoint and lighting points. The total cost incl the toilet faucets and accessories and lighting for the MDR + toilet already 13k. Everyone ask why i dun reno the whole house, presuming i can get reno loan since both of us are working. I told them i dun wan a life with huge debts to pay. Luckily i dun own car and kids. if not, i will forgo my coach bags and hols. Without them, i will be miserable.
  13. mean if the eggs are too fresh, not suitable to make red eggs cos when your guest want to peel off the shell to eat, the shell stick to the hardboiled eggs. So my MIL will buy a tray from market and keep it for at least one week before cooking it.
  14. i dun find it useful as my nephew will pull them out. Also, it only protect corners. How about the side of the table? my nephew may bang his head not necessary only at corners. Now, those rubbery tingy jus sit in the drawer.
  15. my MIL did told me dun buy 'new egg'. You can buy the egg and leave it at home to for more than one week to 'age it' before using it to make red egg. if not, ver diff to peel the shell off
  16. Is AC3 and AC5 same thickness, thought of having AC3 in bedroom (less shifting of furniture) and AC5 in living room (more human traffic, more shift furniture). My nephew does 'cycle' around the living house (kid's size with no pedals). would there be a prob with AC5?
  17. anyone pls share where to find carpet that are elongated rectangle..meaning like a 'runway' kind...i wan to lay it in front of the 11ft wardrobe..
  18. wow i buy from royal franco too. and my aircon also from All Best at Imm..all items from both shops delivery and installing next week.
  19. I went free and easy in July 2005 for the summer lavender field. Onsen at Lake Toya, home stay at Bibaushi (near to furano), stayed at otaru and hakodate.
  20. going to buy lights soon..been walking around balestier and writing down prices and drawing pics in my little black book..hehe..typical female.. but not sure who to to buy cos of so many bad reviews on light shops in Balestier. i wan crystal but so afraid they will break during bad delivery. Anyone kind to share recent purchases?
  21. saw the yahoo auction. price went up $30 per pc only if buy 2. maybe i try to bargain. http://sg.auctions.yahoo.com/sg/i:DigiLyf%...Light:236918100
  22. My experience withHenry at Royal Franco. i came to know this place while accompany my fren to buy a toilet basin. She bought a wall mount basin from shop XXX, but the contractor broke it while installing reason being the thickness at the mount area is too too thin for wall mount. So she went back to shop XXX and that salesman suggest we pay $150 him to mount it and if break, he pay back the same basin. We considered. And walk over further down to royal franco and saw the same basin. Uncle says SURE break and cannot use for wall mount. After researching and surfing, many compliments from forummers. Now is my turn to reno. So i bought my entire toilet accessories from royal franco, Ariston Storage Heater 15L, basins, toilet bowls, shower and bath mixers, shower head set and the 7 pcs accessories. Uncle even treat me soya bean drink from next door. Not sure if he is the cheapest, but very good service (take out basin to match with mixer to let me see the actual item). Always lotsa pple and couple in his shop. Delivery next week, hope all went well.
  23. i will be doing both toilets in apr. Quote for copper pipping for both toilets only and ss for cold point is $600.
  24. i jus went royal franco after much researching and surfing, seems to comment it is cheaper. Honestly, the uncle really nice and helpful and most importantly, honest. bought all toilets stuff from him. I prefer to buy all from one place and have one delivery as i really dun have the time to buy 1 or 2 item from each place.
